Our stay at Art Yala Boutique Resort was absolutely wonderful! Muda and his team went above and beyond to make us feel at home. The food was amazing, and the location is simply stunning—perfect for a relaxing getaway. One of the highlights of our stay was the safari into Yala National Park that Muda organised for us. It was a seamless and memorable experience. The team’s thoughtfulness didn’t stop there—they even helped us book a restaurant at our next destination, which was incredibly helpful and kind. We stayed for two nights and genuinely wished we had stayed longer. Thank you, Muda and team, for such a fantastic experience. We can’t wait to come back!

We had such a beautiful stay at My Resort Yala. From the moment we arrived we felt welcome and cared for - the staff really want to make sure you have a comfortable and enjoyable stay. This is evident in the facilities - air con, good fans, filtered water in the room, mosquito nets (even though there weren’t many mosquitos), a fridge, a hair dryer, adapters to suit every country’s appliances. My favourite - bicycles. This allowed us to ride around town - a thoroughly enjoyable way to see the place. We did an afternoon safari and managed to see a sloth bear! Along with so many other animals - many elephants, crocodiles, deer, bird species, mongoose, jackals, goannas (probably forgetting a lot here). The leopard eluded us. My husband and I have been on safari in Africa so we thought maybe we’d be underwhelmed - but it was awesome. The pool was great for my kids. The temperature was just right. Breakfast was tasty and very generous, and the place has such a peaceful outlook over the rice fields. All of this for such good value. Thank you to all the staff for making this such a lovely stay.

Word cannot express how grateful we are to Nalin and Isharni for welcoming us into their home during Sinhalese New Year. Staying at Black Panther Yala was the absolute highlight of our two weeks in Sri Lanka. It was such a special weekend where we learnt/ate traditional food (e.g. oil cake), participated in the rituals and traditions and met the neighbours and relatives. The room was comfortable and the food delicious. Dinner included is such a rare treat. The location is lovely, set next to the wetlands. You can borrow bike and ride around the area. We did a safari through a driver that our host recommended and it was amazing. I would highly recommend Black Panther to anyone!

Great place in Lake Yala, far from city center. It feels like you are staying in the middle of the savanna. There are few huts in the complex so it's really quiet, low light pollution so stargazing at night is an option. There is a gate you can use to access Yala lake to see buffalos and walks at sunset, really cool. There were some friendly guardian dogs around and the staff was very nice, always available 24x7.

Just the best hotel in Yala for sure. The pool is incredible in front of the rice fields. You can also have a romantic dinner near the fire each night. Good food, good service, good room ! This is by far the most amazing experience we had with accommodation in Sri Lanka. I cannot stress how important it is to stay here. The family that host are the warmest most kindest people. Do not bother eating in the town which has average restaurants, the food they make here is delicious, clean & so cheap. What a spread ! The owner is super helpful & also took us on a free cruise around the lake. We learnt a lot from him about how the locals live etc. He also gave us space if we needed it, it’s completely up to you. Rooms are lovely, spotless & big with an insane view. Also make sure you book your Safari from here. Our guide had been touring for 10+ years & was amazing with the animals. I could go go on forever ha !

He arrange a safari for us for great price andthe safari was good we were lucky to have that safari jeep because he knows where the Leppard lives in the jungle.. our stay was very comfortable clean rooms with quite location. We loved everything ! Mithila is the best host we ever get ! Rooms are clean with all the needed equipment and AC. But the most important is that she organized us the best safari ! My exhilarating trip to Sri Lanka was an incredible experience that will always remain in my memories. The pristine landscapes and beautiful nature of this country captured my heart. However, what made this trip even more special was our stay at Laya hotel. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and also the place was very comfortable and quiet at night. We happened to be there during Sinhala and Tamil new year holiday, and we decided to stay an extra night to celebrate with them. We participated in their games and festivities, and it was a great new experience. We were even honored as special guests on the second night to stay in their brand new caravan. Special thanks to the hotel general manager (Mr.Wasantha) and his deputy (Mr.Dulaj) for their hospitality.

The rooms were very comfortable with a great view. What i loved the most about this hotel was the staff on duty especially Angela and the service provided. Although i travelled alone, i did not feel lonely because the staff were extremely hospitable and went out of their way to make me feel at home. I had a safari tour pick up at 5am and i loved how the hotel took our needs into consideration and packed breakfasts in takeaway boxes for us to go.

Truly one of the highlights of our trip through Sri Lanka ... our tree hut had amazing views of the surrounding area and very near water hole; make sure to get up early to see local wildlife seek refreshment. The level of hospitality is very high and the team delivers an extraordinary food experience for both breakfast and dinner; multiple servings in a beautiful, authentic location.

To list some of the all around perfect stay. - super quite and remote (if you don’t mind the sound of the jungle around you) - absolute adorable staff who try to fulfill any wish you might got - best Safari rides with the best driver (scooby) and incredible educated and nicest Ranger (Dhanula) who make this trip forgetable.

It should be on everyone’s itinerary! The safari was amazing- go for the all day! And Jami Riverside Hotel is run by a wonderful host couple and the accommodations were comfortable, clean and affordable. They will make all the safari arrangements with the park for you if you wish. We had a wonderful driver -PHN Kasun Sampath.

This place is amazing.

This place is amazing. We stay with our 3 young kids and the staff were so kind and attentive. All of the small details have been thought of and it’s a wonderful experience in nature. Lovely local Sri Lankan are served for each meal.

We thoroughly enjoyed the hoppers dinner with its absolutely delicious curries. We must also mention that the curd and honey were the best we’ve ever had.

A great place to stay and would definitely recommend. Large comfortable room close to the pool, with restaurant and plenty of cold beer. We were very well looked after and nothing was too much trouble. Anyone looking for a visit to the National Park should consider staying at Tringa and booking the tour with them as they will make sure you have a great experience.

Weerawila, located in a dry zone of Sri Lanka, is ideal for wildlife safaris and nature experiences. This location is especially convenient during the rainy season, as it often stays dry even when the rest of the country is experiencing thunderstorms. We chose it specifically to avoid heavy rains.

We went for leopard safari & it is in zones 5&6. Safari was excellent & saw one leopard & a bear! Hotels generally not near any restaurants so confined to your hotel for dining. Would not want more than one or two nights there.

The White House Inn is a fantastic place to stay in Thissamaharama. It’s situated in a calm and natural setting, making it perfect for relaxation. The inn is also very close to the Yala National Park, which is great for those looking to go on safari. The hotel is clean and comfortable, providing a welcoming atmosphere. The spacious lobby area is a nice spot to unwind. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, offering excellent service throughout our stay. One of the highlights was the food. We enjoyed both breakfast and dinner, and the Sri Lankan dishes were absolutely delicious. Overall, we had a wonderful experience at the White House Inn and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

Tissamaharama is a fantastic base for anyone looking to explore the natural beauty and rich culture of southern Sri Lanka. It's perfectly located for Yala National Park safaris, offering easy access to incredible wildlife encounters. Beyond the safaris, the town itself has a calm, local vibe with beautiful lakes and ancient temples to discover. You'll find plenty of local restaurants and shops, making it easy to enjoy authentic Sri Lankan experiences. It's a great spot for both adventure and relaxation, and I highly recommend spending some time here!

It definitely is an experience worth trying.

It definitely is an experience worth trying. The tree house has all the comforts you need but yet kept on the simple side. Don't expect much and you will get a lot. Nice food Bbq and big fire lit for you in the evening to give you a chance to relax and talk about your day activities. It was great to be left alone and the silence of the night. There were times you just felt that we were the only ones there and when you needed something the staff would magically appear

It is a holy place visited by Buddhists and Hindus alike. Some Muslims also visit a mosque located in the sacred area. Buddhist usually visit the Kiri Vehera area first and then come to the Devale premises. There are circular roads to facilitate that sequence. Otherwise, one can walk to the Devale premises and then proceed to the Kiri Vehera premises. There are lot of boutiques selling various items including offerings for Devale. They are located in the town area. After that one has to cross a small bridge over the Menik River to enter the sacred area. Over the years both sides of the river have been re-organized for a better sequential experience.
