DenmarkI’d describe our stay as value for money. We didn’t pay much for two nights but we got sweet staff, great breakfast, a nice swimming pool and a good and modern treadmill which I appreciated a lot.
The hotel contacted us before arriving and arranged a full day of safari for us. We (my girlfriend and I) got picked up by Channa at 4.30 am and had one of the best days of our lives. We saw three leopards fighting and playing and our driver Channa was so good and found the leopards in the early morning. He had 18 years of experience and I hope everyone else gets the chance to go safari at Yala National Park with Channa

SwedenI will give this a 10/10 out of how much the owner provided for me. The view outside is amazing, just in front of the lake. So peaceful! So the room was okay. But the best thing for me was that the owner provided me a free tour around the place, watching sunset, crocodiles, bats and owls. He also took me to the atm, supermarket, and picked me up from the bus when arriving. Everything for free. And I can also recommend going with the safari that he is providing. That guide was also amazing, experienced, and affordable.

IrelandThe food, the people working here, the location and facilities. The room had the comfiest bed, nice coffee, all in the middle of nature with birds and paddy fields. Lovely pool, great breakfast, lunch and dinner. All of the employees were so friendly and attentive. It was only a short drive to Yala for safari. They packed us a nice breakfast for the early start...just remember to hide that breakfast in the jeep cab or the monkeys will take it😁stayed 2 nights, and extra one would've been great!

New ZealandThis is by far the most amazing experience we had with accommodation in Sri Lanka. I cannot stress how important it is to stay here. The family that host are the warmest most kindest people.
Do not bother eating in the town which has average restaurants, the food they make here is delicious, clean & so cheap. What a spread !
The owner is super helpful & also took us on a free cruise around the lake. We learnt a lot from him about how the locals live etc. He also gave us space if we needed it, it’s completely up to you. Rooms are lovely, spotless & big with an insane view.
Also make sure you book your Safari from here. Our guide had been touring for 10+ years & was amazing with the animals.

We took a quick R&R trip to Sri Lanka and spent 3 nights at a tea estate in Nuwara Eliya before heading to Uga Chena for another 3 nights. While the 5-star tea estate was lovely, we found ourselves wishing we had spent all 6 days at Uga Chena—it was that fantastic!

Uga Chena offers the best of both worlds: a beautiful beach and proximity to a wildlife sanctuary. What more could you ask for?
Accommodation: 10/10
The hotel is stunning with big beautiful well appointed rooms, the bed linens used are of high quality. With your full package, the rooms are always well stocked and have everything you'll need to have a comfortable stay. Every time we came back from breakfast, lunch and dinner - our rooms would have been made up! We never had to tell the reception even once that we need house-keeping! As soon as we'd step out of our rooms, it would seem that magically, little elves would go and tidy up your rooms! So that when you got back, you'd have cool, clean and refreshed rooms!
Management: 10/10
Not just the rooms though, be it the bar area, dining areas, beach and sundowner areas or even be it the walkaways to your room - all are cleaned and raked and well maintained - but never so that you feel you're in an artificially manicured place. It's all natural and beautiful! This property is extremely well-managed and maintained.
Food: 10/10
Chef Nuwan was so good - not only was our dining experience fantastic but Chef was so gracious and accommodating! You could ask for something that's off the menu and he'd whip it out for you! Everything from breakfast, to lunch, sundowners and dinners - all were fantastic!
Staff: 11/10!!!
Staff made this place so much more special! They were just fantastic! It sounds impossible, but not one staff member gave us a reason to complain! Everyone was so polite, friendly and efficient! No matter your ask, they catered to it, and that too always with a smile!

EVERYTHING! The setting, staff, food, room...I mean EVERYTHING was exceptional. This time my trip to Sri Lanka was quick and involved a lot of movement, but I am so thankful I ended my trip at Rate Wild Coast Tented Lodge. From the moment I entered, I felt like I was in a safari paradise. The staff, waiters, and GM were completely attentive and accommodating. While not the cheapest place I ever stayed, I think it was worth every penny. At first, I was disappointed I didn't have direct beach access as I had booked a pool room (and I thought those were only on the beach), but after settling in for an hour and catching a quick sunbathe I turned around to see a giant elephant on its way to my watering hole...they said it could happen...but I really thought the reality was slim to none...boy was I surprised! Besides all that, all the food and drinks were delicious! And, it cannot be omitted...the coastline! WOW! I have traveled the world and consider myself pretty versed in beautiful coastlines...and I have to say, this is one of the MOST BEAUTIFUL I have ever has the opportunity to sit and enjoy! The gigantic rocks, the angry sea, and the soft soft...even without at elephant visit I would have been so enthralled by Rate Wild Coast Tented Lodge. Thank you!!!

Exceptional staff. So friendly and went above and beyond to make us feel special for our honeymoon and my husbands birthday. The food was delicious and the views and grounds were very peaceful and quiet.
We booked a private safari with them which was great. They packed us a lunch to bring.

Great authentic jungle experience, the candlelit bbq dinner was a highlight. They catered very well for me as a vegetarian, providing an amazing platter of freshly grilled veggies.
Lasan and his team were excellent hosts and made sure we felt comfortable. They also arranged a great safari for us.

This was my fourth visit to Laya Safari and I wouldnt think twice to visit again.

It should be on everyone’s itinerary! The safari was amazing- go for the all day! And Jami Riverside Hotel is run by a wonderful host couple and the accommodations were comfortable, clean and affordable. They will make all the safari arrangements with the park for you if you wish. We had a wonderful driver -PHN Kasun Sampath.

This place is amazing.
This place is amazing. We stay with our 3 young kids and the staff were so kind and attentive. All of the small details have been thought of and it’s a wonderful experience in nature. Lovely local Sri Lankan are served for each meal.

We’re really glad we chose the Mailagama Cinnamon Residence...
We’re really glad we chose the Mailagama Cinnamon Residence for our stay in Kataragama. The staff treated us with great respect and warm hospitality. We thoroughly enjoyed the hoppers dinner with its absolutely delicious curries. We must also mention that the curd and honey were the best we’ve ever had.

A great place to stay and would definitely recommend. Large comfortable room close to the pool, with restaurant and plenty of cold beer.
We were very well looked after and nothing was too much trouble.
Anyone looking for a visit to the National Park should consider staying at Tringa and booking the tour with them as they will make sure you have a great experience.

Weerawila, located in a dry zone of Sri Lanka, is ideal for wildlife safaris and nature experiences. This location is especially convenient during the rainy season, as it often stays dry even when the rest of the country is experiencing thunderstorms. We chose it specifically to avoid heavy rains.

We went for leopard safari & it is in zones 5&6. Safari was excellent & saw one leopard & a bear!
Hotels generally not near any restaurants so confined to your hotel for dining. Would not want more than one or two nights there.

The White House Inn is a fantastic place to stay in Thissamaharama. It’s situated in a calm and natural setting, making it perfect for relaxation. The inn is also very close to the Yala National Park, which is great for those looking to go on safari.
The hotel is clean and comfortable, providing a welcoming atmosphere. The spacious lobby area is a nice spot to unwind. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, offering excellent service throughout our stay.
One of the highlights was the food. We enjoyed both breakfast and dinner, and the Sri Lankan dishes were absolutely delicious. Overall, we had a wonderful experience at the White House Inn and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

Tissamaharama is a fantastic base for anyone looking to explore the natural beauty and rich culture of southern Sri Lanka. It's perfectly located for Yala National Park safaris, offering easy access to incredible wildlife encounters. Beyond the safaris, the town itself has a calm, local vibe with beautiful lakes and ancient temples to discover. You'll find plenty of local restaurants and shops, making it easy to enjoy authentic Sri Lankan experiences. It's a great spot for both adventure and relaxation, and I highly recommend spending some time here!

It definitely is an experience worth trying. The tree house has all the comforts you need but yet kept on the simple side. Don't expect much and you will get a lot.
Nice food Bbq and big fire lit for you in the evening to give you a chance to relax and talk about your day activities.
It was great to be left alone and the silence of the night. There were times you just felt that we were the only ones there and when you needed something the staff would magically appear

It is a holy place visited by Buddhists and Hindus alike. Some Muslims also visit a mosque located in the sacred area. Buddhist usually visit the Kiri Vehera area first and then come to the Devale premises. There are circular roads to facilitate that sequence. Otherwise, one can walk to the Devale premises and then proceed to the Kiri Vehera premises. There are lot of boutiques selling various items including offerings for Devale. They are located in the town area. After that one has to cross a small bridge over the Menik River to enter the sacred area. Over the years both sides of the river have been re-organized for a better sequential experience.
