Really nice apartment, specially equipped for western turists, with hair dryer, toilet brush, drinking water, big room and bathroom, with big patio in front of the room, plus swimming pool. What else can you wish more. It was the best experience during my trip in Sri Lanka. Big bonus was also Janaka, resort manager who organized Safari in Yala for us.

Able to arrange safari trips, scooter rentals, take you to bus station etc. Excellent home cooked dinner by owner's wife, a true masterchef, food for two could feed six, worth the value of the stay alone. Awesome Welcome & Farewell drinks, take away breakfast ready at 5:30 for our early morning safari trip, couldn't ask for more.

From the moment we arrived, Randy and his family greeted us with warm smiles and genuine hospitality. The guesthouse's idyllic lakeside location created beautiful mornings and evenings.
The rooms was spacious, clean, good AC, and tastefully decorated, offering all the comforts one could ask for.
Randy went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. He were incredibly attentive and always ready to assist with any request.
He organized enriching experiences like a village visit, pottery session, and a captivating lake tour. His extensive knowledge of birds added an extra layer of wonder to our tour.
The guesthouse's proximity to Yala National Park made it an ideal base for a safari adventure.
In summary, our stay at this guesthouse was truly extraordinary. The blend of natural beauty, impeccable service, and super good cuisine rendered it an unforgettable experience. We can't wait to return to this hidden gem in Sri Lanka.

Sri LankaAs a local couple first of all I wanted to thank to the owner of this place and pubudu he not just a staff he is very familiar person. and extremely kind and 100% decent person. when I was booked there I was very particular about privacy and protection. so I can 100% guarantee to anyone who like to come there in future. because the place in owner property and their house below us. and 100% safe. and there is no security cameras in rooms. so you ll have 100% best privacy.... and regarding room view is in front of paddy field. and village view so much beautiful. and we had very good breakfast for good price and food is very hygienic. so overall everything is perfect and I forgot to tell. they have hot water as well and in the bathroom wall is very beautiful with snow mountain art. 100% I recommend this place. looks luxurious and safe specially for foreigners. to the

We took a quick R&R trip to Sri Lanka and spent 3 nights at a tea estate in Nuwara Eliya before heading to Uga Chena for another 3 nights. While the 5-star tea estate was lovely, we found ourselves wishing we had spent all 6 days at Uga Chena—it was that fantastic!

Uga Chena offers the best of both worlds: a beautiful beach and proximity to a wildlife sanctuary. What more could you ask for?
Accommodation: 10/10
The hotel is stunning with big beautiful well appointed rooms, the bed linens used are of high quality. With your full package, the rooms are always well stocked and have everything you'll need to have a comfortable stay. Every time we came back from breakfast, lunch and dinner - our rooms would have been made up! We never had to tell the reception even once that we need house-keeping! As soon as we'd step out of our rooms, it would seem that magically, little elves would go and tidy up your rooms! So that when you got back, you'd have cool, clean and refreshed rooms!
Management: 10/10
Not just the rooms though, be it the bar area, dining areas, beach and sundowner areas or even be it the walkaways to your room - all are cleaned and raked and well maintained - but never so that you feel you're in an artificially manicured place. It's all natural and beautiful! This property is extremely well-managed and maintained.
Food: 10/10
Chef Nuwan was so good - not only was our dining experience fantastic but Chef was so gracious and accommodating! You could ask for something that's off the menu and he'd whip it out for you! Everything from breakfast, to lunch, sundowners and dinners - all were fantastic!
Staff: 11/10!!!
Staff made this place so much more special! They were just fantastic! It sounds impossible, but not one staff member gave us a reason to complain! Everyone was so polite, friendly and efficient! No matter your ask, they catered to it, and that too always with a smile!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Kithala Thissa-Yala Resort, and it was an experience worth every moment. From the moment we arrived, the tranquil ambiance and stunning views of the surrounding paddy fields immediately set the scene for a relaxing getaway.
The resort itself is immaculate, with spotless rooms and well-maintained common areas. Its proximity to the main attractions is incredibly convenient, making it an excellent base for exploring the local sights.
What truly sets Kithala Thissa-Yala Resort apart, however, is the exceptional hospitality of the staff. A special shout out to Ayenaji and Surangi from the front desk, and Iresh, Janith, Gihan, Wathsala, and Pavindu from the restaurant for their outstanding service. Additionally, a heartfelt thanks to the many other sweet and most attentive hotel staff who went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was enjoyable. Their service was unmatched, combining professionalism with a warm, personal touch that made us feel right at home.
Initially, we only signed up for the bed and breakfast deal, but the quality of the food was so impressive that we ended up dining at the hotel for both lunch and dinner. Every meal was delicious, showcasing a variety of local and international dishes that catered to all tastes.

We had a great experience staying here and exploring Yala. The hotel arranged two safaris for us, and both were excellent. Our guide Sampath and driver Supoon were very knowledgeable, and thanks to their experience, we were able to see leopards on both trips. They knew how to navigate the crowds and where to go for the best wildlife sightings.
The hotel itself was lovely. We enjoyed the view of the beach from our cabin, and listening to the waves from the porch was a highlight of our stay. The property’s access to nature was excellent. The nearby lake was a prime spot for wildlife viewing. We saw crocodiles, wild boars, and elephants there. The staff, especially Gayan and Saman, made an effort to connect with us every day, ask how our day was, and point out wildlife around the property. We would recommend this place for anyone visiting Yala and looking for a peaceful stay close to nature.

We absolutely loved our stay here. We were only at the hotel for 1 night but wished we could have stayed longer. The hotel staff are amazing & went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and welcome. We were able to book a safari through the hotel & they were kind enough to arrange a packed breakfast for us since we left at 5am. The grounds are lovely & well looked after and the swimming pool was great. The room was one of the nicest we have stayed in during our trip and had so many nice touches and amenities. The restaurant was also very nice & had vegetarian options which was great. It was also amazing to have room service after a long day of driving. Can’t recommend this place enough!

The rooms were very comfortable with a great view. What i loved the most about this hotel was the staff on duty especially Angela and the service provided. Although i travelled alone, i did not feel lonely because the staff were extremely hospitable and went out of their way to make me feel at home. I had a safari tour pick up at 5am and i loved how the hotel took our needs into consideration and packed breakfasts in takeaway boxes for us to go.

Tissamaharama is a fantastic base for anyone looking to explore the natural beauty and rich culture of southern Sri Lanka. It's perfectly located for Yala National Park safaris, offering easy access to incredible wildlife encounters. Beyond the safaris, the town itself has a calm, local vibe with beautiful lakes and ancient temples to discover. You'll find plenty of local restaurants and shops, making it easy to enjoy authentic Sri Lankan experiences. It's a great spot for both adventure and relaxation, and I highly recommend spending some time here!

It is a holy place visited by Buddhists and Hindus alike. Some Muslims also visit a mosque located in the sacred area. Buddhist usually visit the Kiri Vehera area first and then come to the Devale premises. There are circular roads to facilitate that sequence. Otherwise, one can walk to the Devale premises and then proceed to the Kiri Vehera premises. There are lot of boutiques selling various items including offerings for Devale. They are located in the town area. After that one has to cross a small bridge over the Menik River to enter the sacred area. Over the years both sides of the river have been re-organized for a better sequential experience.

This place is amazing.
This place is amazing. We stay with our 3 young kids and the staff were so kind and attentive. All of the small details have been thought of and it’s a wonderful experience in nature. Lovely local Sri Lankan are served for each meal.

A great place to stay and would definitely recommend.
A great place to stay and would definitely recommend. Large comfortable room close to the pool, with restaurant and plenty of cold beer.
We were very well looked after and nothing was too much trouble.
Anyone looking for a visit to the National Park should consider staying at Tringa and booking the tour with them as they will make sure you have a great experience.

Weerawila, located in a dry zone of Sri Lanka, is ideal for wildlife safaris and nature experiences. This location is especially convenient during the rainy season, as it often stays dry even when the rest of the country is experiencing thunderstorms. We chose it specifically to avoid heavy rains.

We went for leopard safari & it is in zones 5&6. Safari was excellent & saw one leopard & a bear!
Hotels generally not near any restaurants so confined to your hotel for dining. Would not want more than one or two nights there.

The owner of Serenity lake advices us to visit Yala safari, Sithul pawwa magul viharaya and sithul pawwa a super history with beautiful scenery,
which we did and we're very grateful for his advice.
We returned to the serenity lake to have lunch before heading off.
Requested for a village kind of lunch with the local veggies and it was served on a lotus leaf...
The most delicious meal it was.
We had lunch at Reds and at the Serenity lake .

Kataragama itself is a temple town and that’s pretty much it. Other than that it’s a jumping off point for safari in yala and kumana.
One day is more than enough for cultural/religious aspects. The Perahara (pageant) in July is fantastic. Be warned that it may not start till midnight and may need pre booked tickets. Also watch out for pickpockets in crowded areas around this time.
The country side and the rural life as well as the wildlife is fantastic and authentic.
Quite hot and sunny year round but dec to feb is more comfortable.

It definitely is an experience worth trying.
It definitely is an experience worth trying. The tree house has all the comforts you need but yet kept on the simple side. Don't expect much and you will get a lot.
Nice food Bbq and big fire lit for you in the evening to give you a chance to relax and talk about your day activities.
It was great to be left alone and the silence of the night. There were times you just felt that we were the only ones there and when you needed something the staff would magically appear

We were extremely satisfied with the hotel and its beautiful surroundings. Everything exceeded our expectations.
We took lots of photos & are sharing them with friends. The restaurants,Roof bar,Spa's and the pool side and pool is world class with out doubt!
The service was outstanding, and that is something that can really make or break a vacation. Congratulations to the Super Proactive General Manager Mr Krishanta Damunupola and his team members to include Mr Seeman and Miss Sandani(Intern) for being so accommodating at all times with oodles of dedication. We also especially liked the super-comfy room with the balcony, bed linens which were very high quality, and felt so good to slip into each night. Thanks so much for a lovely visit.We'll be singing your praises for a long time. Thanks!
