I liked many things about Nuga Retreat. First of all, the beautiful, natural surroundings with mountain views created a unique atmosphere of peace and relaxation. The rooms were comfortable and well-equipped, providing convenience, and the outdoor pool was a great place to unwind. I also really appreciated the friendly and helpful staff who truly made an effort to ensure our stay was enjoyable.

Immaculately maintained property. Gorgeous panoramic view from the room and balcony of mountains and lotus ponds. Spot egrets, parrots, butterflies and apparently loris. You can enjoy a late afternoon walk around the lake after a cooling swim in the pool. Return for the sunset and delicious rice & curry.

Beautiful place to stay, with amazing attention to detail, from the artwork to the homemade soap. The staff made us feel so welcome and the service was thoughtful and lovely, nothing was too much. Last minute organising a safari for us, which was amazing! Food was delicious and as good as the reviews we had read. Cannot recommend this place more and wish we had organised a longer stay here than the one night we stayed. They even gifted us some flowers for our stay! Also loved the dogs too.

We absolutely loved staying at Leel's cottage. The welcome by him and his wife was super nice, and the garden on their property looks like the garden of Eden! Especially the walkway to the cottage - WOW! And we were so pleasantly surprised by the size and comfort of the cottage. It was super clean and nice and the bed very comfortable. And then best of all was Leel. He took us on a 6-hour safari and he was such a great guide. He was very knowledgeable, showing us even the smaller animals that we couldn't see. And we saw so many elephants with him! We also got to talk to him after dinner, and the kind and interesting discussions are some of my favorite memories of our whole trip. If you're looking for where to stay in the area, I would highly recommend Leel's place.

The entire team were so friendly and helpful during our stay. Everyone is so passionate and knowledgeable, we loved the spice tour and the ayurvedic massages! The room was spotless and the food was delicious. One of our favourite ever holidays.

We stay here for one night .they welcomed us well. The rooms were very clean and the staff always helped us.we had dinner here and it was really delicious and we were given curd and honey as a side dish.The Hotel provided us with a jeep and very good experience driver to go on Safari the next morning .We saw many animals in the udawalawe park.we were very happy and really recommend here for stay.

A fantastic place right by the ocean. The hotel staff, along with the hotel manager and the hotel's four-paw manager, made us feel right at home from the very moment our car pulled up to the entrance. The attention to detail was unprecedented, and the small touches everywhere continued to surprise us, even after a few days.

Lovely authentic place. In our two weeks holiday with a lot of luxery resorts, this was the one we have the warmest feeling about. When you are looking for a not so touristic area, some magnificent views, a little farm life, and some great staff, go here. Oh and go for the Sri Lanken Kitchen, that’s better then the European:)

10/10 – I honestly have no words. This is hospitality at the highest level. Everyone is incredibly attentive, always there for a quick chat, but never intrusive. You just feel genuinely cared for from the first minute to the last. The property itself is stunning – beautifully designed, extremely clean and perfectly maintained. And for anyone who, like me, is a bit scared of bugs: I was worried about mosquitos at first, but it turned out to be a complete non-issue. There’s no mosquito net and still… nothing. I have no idea how they do it, but it works. 😄 Breakfast is absolutely unreal – if you stay long enough, you basically get to taste everything Sri Lanka has to offer. Every morning feels like a little food adventure. The guestbook is also such a gem: full of heartfelt messages and genuinely useful insider tips for the area – we used it a lot. A special shout-out to the dogs – I absolutely loved them! They’re hilarious, calm and a bit reserved at first, but still super friendly and affectionate if you want some cuddles. They fit the whole vibe of the place perfectly. Pool, yoga shala – they have it all. Yet it somehow never feels like a big anonymous resort, but intimate, peaceful and deeply personal. I could write a whole novel about how unique this villa is, but that would probably break the review format. So I’ll keep it short: Villa Mayava is a true gem. Huge thanks to Carol and the entire team – it’s unbelievable what you’ve created here and every single one of you deserves a big round of applause. 🫶

Nice big hotel with a good restaurant and safari trips, good base for Udawalawe.

I had a wonderful stay at Royal Lion in Galagadara. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, always ready to assist with a smile. The rooms are spacious, very comfortable, and clean, with stunning mountain views that make your stay feel peaceful and relaxing. The food was also delicious — freshly prepared and full of flavor. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the Kandy area who wants a calm and cozy experience with great hospitality!
