Everything, every little detail, was just fascinating. The rooms are set in an amazingly beautiful garden, and are very well equipped & super comfortable. Treat yourself to local dinner - so far our best meal in Sri Lanka (and we had many very good dinners before!), don't miss it. As for the hosts - everyone was super friendly and welcoming, we were served delicious tea upon arrival and Leel spoke very good English. As for the safari - we can't imagine a better guide taking care of us. Leel knew the park very well (showed us beautiful places off the beaten path), you could see he cared very much for the wellbeing of present animals and was very knowledgeable about them. Overall, he's a guy that would save you even from a charging elephant.

Beautiful place to stay, with amazing attention to detail, from the artwork to the homemade soap. The staff made us feel so welcome and the service was thoughtful and lovely, nothing was too much. Last minute organising a safari for us, which was amazing! Food was delicious and as good as the reviews we had read. Cannot recommend this place more and wish we had organised a longer stay here than the one night we stayed. They even gifted us some flowers for our stay! Also loved the dogs too.

With out a doubt one of the best locations in Sri Lanka where we have stayed in the last 3 weeks! A big room, which was extremely clean. Great bed, and perfect shower! And really close to the park. The manager and his team do everything to help you out for the park visit. And the chef makes sure you don’t have to go to the town. By the way; there isn’t anything in the town anyway, so better stay at the hotel for lunch and dinner. 👍🏻

Wild Lake Side is a gem. Milan and his family took extra care and attention for our 3-night stay. The cabin was fantastic and built with care. Sitting out on the deck overlooking the stream and jungle was a peaceful treat. We enjoyed the homecooked meals very much, and the family was very flexible with timing and variety of options. They organized two 4-hour private safaris for us in their very cool vintage safari vehicle that was the perfect size for two people. We chose to do morning and afternoon safaris on two separate days and it was a nice balance of relaxing at the cabin and enjoying the park. Our guide was exceptional as he shared many details about the range of birds and animals we encountered. This was our second time visiting Sri Lanka and our stay here stands out as the best experience.

Vimanra resort was an oasis of beauty, just outside of Udawalawe town. It is perhaps the nicest place our family of five has stayed in, made accessible by its reasonable prices. We really loved the huge family room, and the triple room was also well appointed. There are two big highlights to this property. The first is the host, who was very helpful in arranging a great safari and onward transportation for a reasonable price, and who added touches of luxury to the meals and rooms. The second is the wonderful property, with an infinity pool surrounded by trees where birds play, and looks out to the river beyond. The porch was the ideal spot to linger during a meal to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Our kids were disappointed that our stay wasn't longer! The rooms had everything we needed for a great sleep. The location away from the main road meant that it was peaceful and quiet, and we had no reason to go to town because we ate the delicious food at Vimanra. Highly recommended.

Kalu's was such an amazing Hotel to stay at, we did 3 nights to relax and also did an early morning Safari which I highly recommend getting up early for! The hotel organised this for us and the guide was brilliant, had some incredible intimate moments with some young elephants. I can't praise the management and staff enough.. The food was lovely! breakfast, lunch and dinner. As the hotel was quiet for a couple days we even requested a lake fish curry which they happily organised with the chef and got some local freshly made bread to go with it. It was amazing! The owner should be very proud of all his staff but a special mention to Mangala and Sadaruwan! They couldnt do enough for us and giving us great advice with eating the traditional Sri Lankan food how it should be eaten properly. We got 5 star treatment every minute we were there. We will definitely be back when we visit Sri Lanka again in 2026. Thank you for making the end of our holiday so special 😁

This wasn't our first stay, so we obviouly like this place. The manager Anand couldn't have been kinder. He looked after us like super VIPs. He was everywhere making sure that we were fine. A big thank you to him. We forgot a swim suit and he offered to send it by courier service to our next hotel, which he did. The hotel itself is small and not for everyone. The rooms needs a complete rework - they don't do this place justice. They are in a poor state. But the location is incredible and I hope, this will never change - please never cut ANY of the trees! This is the biggest asset- the jungle and all its noises, the beautiful light filtering through the canopy.

I had such a great experience there. The owner, Sanjaya really was so helpful. If there is any kind of problem, he will help you anytime. The room was comfortable, and nice in size, with a coffee maker and Air Conditioned as well. The bathroom has hot water. The breakfast is awesome, with many varieties of fruits, eggs, and curries. I can't even remember everything I had served on the table. The cherry on the cake, there is the POOL. Nice size, and the perfect temperature. Definitely, I enjoyed being there! Beautiful and peaceful location with a river in the Back yard. Surrounded by greenery and forest. Lasantha and staff are warm and friendly and went above and beyond. I was leaving early morning to Horton Plains for a hike and they had a packed lunch ready for me at 4 am! The food was traditional and tasty. There are 3 cottages for accommodation with good wifi, comfortable bed and hot water.

Beautiful large site. Two pools. Comfy pillows and bed. Nice size room. Wonderful private jeep safari by Kottawatta - the driver was a fantastic guide. Grounds staff and restaurant staff were so friendly. Staff will haul luggage to and from rooms. Easily able to park our tuk tuk. Breakfast buffet is fairly extensive.

Very friendly staff gave a warm welcome. The welcome coffee was the best time of my life. Not only that, I was surprised because the pool was so clean and beautiful. Ratnapura is a fascinating town with few concessions for the western tourist. If you have an interest in the real, gritty Sri Lanka (particularly if the gem industry has appeal) then this town will afford endless stimulation. If, on the other hand you are looking for a holiday resort with restaurants and attractions don't bother - stick to the west coast.

Let me first say how accomodating the staff was. The staff at Glenrock ensured that we were well taken care and went above and beyond with extras to ensure we were happy.  Lodging: The lodging was excellent, I slept very well in their comfortable bed and the ceiling fan with the AC was perfect.  Environment: The area and grounds offer a spectacular view from above and below, we did not want to leave, heard a few monkeys on our roof during the night. Food: The dinner was good and the breakfast was plentiful, they did not leave our side and ensured the breakfast on the river was done perfectly. They went out of their way to make us happy. Overall: My team,my wife and I loved "The Glenrock", we will stay again and stay longer next time. Thank you to the entire team

Nothing much to see in Rakwana town.

Nothing much to see in Rakwana town. But the surrounding mountain areas are breathtaking. Avoid the Rakwana-Deniyaya 10-bends road as it is under heavy construction work and very difficult to travel by a car.

Amazing experience!

Amazing experience! It's a hidden gem in Sri Lanka and will cater for every type of need. You love nature but dont want to hike, this is the place to go. You want to hike in the Singharaja forest? Well this is the best place to stay. You just want to be with your loved one? Nothing can beat this place. The bunglow itself is an art in the middle of the forest, packed with memories from the past but also with all modern day amenities to make you comfortable. Above all, the staffs are exceptionally good and will ensure you have personalised experience all the time. They will know yoir need even before you notice. I woild like to thank Lasith for his exceptionally hospitality. I have been to many places but never found someone like him.

A walk into the small town of Embilipitya was always an...

A walk into the small town of Embilipitya was always an interesting trip into real sri lankan life. Cafe's cake shops, restaurants etc - and banks/ATMs - in fact not much that you don't need. A 30mins drive to the beach going south and a 15 in drive to the national park for the elephants. To say nothing of the peacocks constantly gracing Illukawella's gardens.

We had 3 nights at Sunil's Homestay near the Sinharaja Forest Reserve - northern entrance. That gave us two full days for hikes in the forest - one day we were out for almost 8 hours. Some easy and some challenging trails, but we could take them at our own pace. Saw some amazing birds, reptiles and monkeys. There were few insects, but there are leeches (to be expected in a rainforest) and the leech "socks" were helpful. We also visited a lovely waterfall, where it was possible to safely get into the pools at the bottom.

This place is one of my favorites in Sri Lanka! It was such a beautiful surprise! Calm area, very nice outdoor setting, the room was very spacious (as was the bathroom!) So let's talk details: - Food: Amazing! Home cooked food, with candlelight and the sounds of nature! - Safari: He was a very good company during my trip! He gave me some tips, was very flexible with my requests. - Helpfulness: Arranged a taxi to my next destination, Overall, it was totally worth it, you will really enjoy it! !

Where to start... We had a wonderful stay! Our host Ravidu is a very kind man, he welcomed me and my girlfriend into his family. We will forever be grateful for the special memories created there. His wife cooked us delicious traditional Sri Lankan food at night. Thank you very much ☺️ The bed is extremely comfortable and the room is spacious and very clean. It was nice to have a place to hang out on the terrace. There are many beautiful plants around the property that give it a jungle feel. We saw many tropical birds around. I 100% recommend booking a safari through Ravidu, he partners with a guide with many years of experience. The safari guide was knowledgeable about the animals and different species we saw on the safari. He was very respectful of the wildlife and drove slowly through the park unlike other jeeps..!!
