Everything was so clean and the food at the hotel restaurant was really good.(We had fried rice and koththu.) When we go to the next place , the staff took us there. Thank you so much for good services. And the view is very beautiful. staff is very good and helpful. Food is very delicious.

Situated in a quiet location with an excellent view of Sigiriya Rock, while still being a short walk to restaurants. The pool area was well maintained, and it was great to have a swim after a long hot day exploring the area. The staff and breakfast was great. The room was clean, comfortable and as advertised. The air-conditioning worked very well. A fantastic place to stay.

Great brand new hotel with spacious rooms and a nice pool to cool down after climbing up the rocks. The staff is incredibly nice and helpful, they gave us advice on where to eat/drink and arranged transportation at a very reasonable price. The breakfast is excellent, you cannot eat it all. We were served fruits and freshly squeezed fruit juice, then omelette and next pancakes/local specialty halaba. Also, if you go up the road leading to the hotel you’ll see the fields and a nice lake, perfect location when you’d like to get a break from the tourist crowds

Amazing location, the host was extremely nice and welcoming. Really helpful and giving advice on what to do and helping ordering tuk tuks if required. The cabana itself was extremely clean and spacious with good AC. Food was amazing too. Cannot fault, definitely stay here if in the area.

He helped us plan our days, suggested things to do, arranged everything we needed, and was always checking in to make sure we were having the best possible stay. His dedication and patience made our trip effortless. But it wasn’t just them — every single staff member we met was phenomenal. The housekeeping team, the restaurant staff, the front office, and everyone behind the scenes — every one of them greeted us with a smile, asked how our day was going, and made us feel like valued guests. Their warmth was so genuine, and it was clear they take real pride in their work. The villa itself was stunning — beautifully designed, spotless, and peaceful — but it was the people who made the experience truly special. Their professionalism, kindness, and positive energy turned a beautiful holiday into an unforgettable one. Liya Water Villas is more than just a place to stay; it’s a place where you’re cared for. Fantastic stay, we decided to add an additional night we enjoyed ourselves so much. The hotel manager/owner? Nimal was superb, he made us feel welcome and was available 24/7. We had some issues with a scooter we rented and he came with his team to where we were stranded to resolve. The whole team went above and beyond for us. Out of all rge locations we stayed in Sri Lanka, the food here topped the list. Absolutely delicious and fresh from their garden, be sure to ask for a tour! A great place to end the trip

I didn’t come to Sigiriya to explore the town itself, but...

I didn’t come to Sigiriya to explore the town itself, but purely for the iconic Sigiriya Rock—and it was absolutely worth it. The experience was incredible, with stunning views from the top. My friends and I climbed up for sunrise, which I highly recommend as the best time to go. Just be prepared: there are a lot of stairs—some carved directly into the rock, others metal and uneven. We visited in November just after the monsoon, so it was warm and the climb had us sweating buckets. If you plan on taking those perfect social-media photos, bring a spare T-shirt… or do what I did and let AI handle the magic! Although the ascent was tough and left us literally out of breath, the moment we reached the top made it all worth it. The views were truly breathtaking—quite fitting, since the climb already took my breath away.

A beautiful place on earth that there are lots of 360 degree...

A beautiful place on earth that there are lots of 360 degree view points. But if it rains it will ruin your plans. So make sure you depend on weatherly and visit Matale when it shows many continuous sunny days. Even on cloudy forecasts do not visit as all mointain tops then will be covered and you will not see the sights. when it is humid leaches also will be active and will become a painful experience.

Lions rock is great, we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Lions rock is great, we thoroughly enjoyed it. We stayed for two nights in the end as we got to sigiriya late. This meant we ate dinner one night at the little hut which wass great, climbed the rock, then moved on to the habarana which was also interesting to wander and eat.

We chose not to climb Sigiriya (having just recovered from...

We chose not to climb Sigiriya (having just recovered from Adam's Peak!) but instead chose the much shorter Pidurangala which afforded a fabulous view of Sigiriya. Highly recommended. A visit to the Bawa hotel, Heritance Kandalama, is well worth it as an insight into the brilliant architectural mind of Geoffrey Bawa.

Mainly there are 10-12 attractions in Matale. As I just stayed one day which was not sufficient to visit all the places. Among them where I went were also hampered due to the rain at time to time. Generally Matele was quit good tourist destination if it is planned well with couple of days.

The weather is very calm.

The weather is very calm. Recommended time to start climb is 5.45 AM. So worthy to watch the surroundings from top of the Sigiriya. You can learn a lot about Sigiriya. You can get a guide if you want from the entrance.

Dambulla is an excellent base for exploring Kandy,...

Dambulla is an excellent base for exploring Kandy, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Sigiriya. We stayed there for 4 Nights and could cover the heritage sites easily. Dambulla Caves are a must-see and so is Sigiriya (just 16 Kms. away). Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa are around an hours drive but Dambulla is much well-connected and less touristy.
