The big clean room and the great breakfast, the lovely swimming pool and the amazing view of the lion Rock. And the soursop juice is a must try. Sweet andq sour with aq hit of salty that is great for the wheather. Highly recommend! It is a very new hotel. All the facilities works well. Hot Water! Air conditioning and the pool. The pool is a real angel after a hiking or lion rock or a half day safari. It makes our stay very relexing. You can ask the hotel help on Safari booking which may be a slightly expensive than the street, however they got us a very expensive guide who has been working as a guide 10 yrs. We got to see a lot of elephants, peecocks, birds in just 3 hours. They almost always the first jeep to spot/trecking the elephants that makes us a great spots to get our photos.

The Shakshuka breakfast was delicious, also the pasta dinner ~ as good as in Italy. Bed so comfortable, setting very peaceful. Pool was perfect for cooling down in the middle of the day and I loved watching monkeys swing through the trees while reading on a pool lounger. The owner arranged a jeep safari for me at local Eco Park ~ it was awesome to see elephants up so close!

We genuinely loved our stay at this beautiful hotel. It felt like coming home – not to one mom, but to many welcoming moms. All the staff took such good care of us and made sure we had the best time. They had great tips on sightseeing and booked a fair priced tuktuk to drive us around Dambulla. The buffet was varied and delicious; the room and garden were tidy, beautiful and clearly looked after; the bed was super comfortable. We really hope we can come back one day.

We had an amazing stay here, the area was beautiful. Everything was clean and the food was delicious, many options to choose from. The manager - Bernard was extremely helpful(as well as other the other hotel staff). He made sure we had a good time, recommended restaurants and places to visit. He also took care of the transport and made sure that we got everything for the best price. Thanks to all the help we were able to fully relax and enjoy the trip. We stayed in a two-bedroom villa which was absolutely stunning — spacious, private and beautifully designed, with views that made it hard to leave. The setting itself is incredible, with the water and landscape creating a calm, almost dreamlike atmosphere. Breakfasts and dinners were excellent throughout our stay, and a special mention must go to Madushan, who looked after us at every meal. His attention to detail and genuine warmth really stood out. Our butler, Dilmith, was equally fantastic — he quietly organised everything for us, including our spa sessions which were superb. Nothing was ever too much trouble. All in all, it was one of those rare places that manages to combine luxury with real heart. We left feeling properly rested and already talking about when we might come back.

We had a wonderful time while staying at this beautiful gem retreat hidden in the forest. First off, a sincere thank you to the staff and manager Nimal at Wild Grass for accommodating our late arrival in the evening and dinner arrangement. The hospitality of the staff is beyond our expectation. The Villa we stayed was contemporary, modern and spacious with surrounding glass interiors that let us feel so close to nature. Since the time we arrived there, the staff attended to all our requirements instantly. The service was just outstanding and the food was very tasty. We were so sad that we didn’t have time to extend our stay at this resort by a few more nights, but we will undoubtedly return for a longer stay the next time. Such a beautiful, serene, and peaceful setting for a vacation.

After a disappointing experience elsewhere, finding Village Sigiriya felt like discovering paradise! The hotel is surrounded by a stunning, lush green area that immediately puts you at ease. The pool is perfect for relaxing, and the live music every evening adds such a magical touch to the atmosphere. The Ayurvedic center is a wonderful bonus for anyone looking to unwind even further. The staff here are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home. My room was huge, beautifully designed, and had a lovely private yard in front—such a peaceful spot to enjoy the surroundings. I couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Highly recommend Village Sigiriya for anyone visiting this area!

Such an exemplary hotel, from the main road if you blinked you'd miss it. The gardens surrounding the hotel are beautifully curated and absolutely full of wildlife, within minutes of checking in we saw all manner of tropical birds, frogs, squirrels lizards and even some small snakes in the ponds lining the central garden path. As a wild life lover this was particularly exciting. The swimming pool was great and had nice views of the jungle in the distance, the room was spacious, comfortable and well lit. Staff were so friendly too, wished I could have stayed longer.

Absolutely unforgettable. Pabalu and the team made my birthday stay so special. The location and view is unreal, the food is delicious and the facilities are world class. We went on. Sunrise trek with Ranmal and the team, followed by a floating lake breakfast - honestly the best day ever. Will remember it until our next lives!! Will definitely be back. This place is a must in Sri Lanka

Came here as a solo traveller, I chose this place because of the location and the views. The food was delicious, the pool was very nice. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. You can rent good bikes from them and its easy to ride to all the places. The room was huge and clean and the grounds immaculate.

Sigiriya is a must visit ancient ruins monument in Sri Lanka...

Sigiriya is a must visit ancient ruins monument in Sri Lanka. It is a nice experience to observe the sunrise from the top of the rock. The climb takes about 30-40 minutes unless one stops by to explore the water fountains, structures and other remnants of the location. Entrance to the rock is through the lion structure and on the top of the rock Sigiri frescos and the mirror wall can be observed. These are not allowed to be photographed. Applying sun screen can be a good idea and it would be better to take precautions for being sweaty. Maintaining silence while climbing can be important as there are Giant Honey Bees in the surrounding. Bathroom facilities on top of the rock however are very scarce.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Exceptional Stay at Hotel Golden Ray! My experience at Hotel Golden Ray was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. The staff were extremely friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with a smile. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, providing a perfect space to relax after exploring Dambulla. A beautiful place on earth that there are lots of 360 degree view points. But if it rains it will ruin your plans. So make sure you depend on weatherly and visit Matale when it shows many continuous sunny days. Even on cloudy forecasts do not visit as all mointain tops then will be covered and you will not see the sights. when it is humid leaches also will be active and will become a painful experience.

I didn’t come to Sigiriya to explore the town itself, but purely for the iconic Sigiriya Rock—and it was absolutely worth it. The experience was incredible, with stunning views from the top. My friends and I climbed up for sunrise, which I highly recommend as the best time to go. Just be prepared: there are a lot of stairs—some carved directly into the rock, others metal and uneven. We visited in November just after the monsoon, so it was warm and the climb had us sweating buckets. If you plan on taking those perfect social-media photos, bring a spare T-shirt… or do what I did and let AI handle the magic! Although the ascent was tough and left us literally out of breath, the moment we reached the top made it all worth it. The views were truly breathtaking—quite fitting, since the climb already took my breath away.

We chose not to climb Sigiriya (having just recovered from Adam's Peak!) but instead chose the much shorter Pidurangala which afforded a fabulous view of Sigiriya. Highly recommended. A visit to the Bawa hotel, Heritance Kandalama, is well worth it as an insight into the brilliant architectural mind of Geoffrey Bawa.

Mainly there are 10-12 attractions in Matale. As I just stayed one day which was not sufficient to visit all the places. Among them where I went were also hampered due to the rain at time to time. Generally Matele was quit good tourist destination if it is planned well with couple of days.

Lions rock is great, we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Lions rock is great, we thoroughly enjoyed it. We stayed for two nights in the end as we got to sigiriya late. This meant we ate dinner one night at the little hut which wass great, climbed the rock, then moved on to the habarana which was also interesting to wander and eat.

Dambulla is an excellent base for exploring Kandy, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Sigiriya. We stayed there for 4 Nights and could cover the heritage sites easily. Dambulla Caves are a must-see and so is Sigiriya (just 16 Kms. away). Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa are around an hours drive but Dambulla is much well-connected and less touristy.
