It is a brand new family run Hotel in an ideal location, very close to the Sigiriya Lion Rock. The rock is visible from the hotel! Lovely owner/ family were very attentive to all our requests. They even arranged a superb safari for us on request. Very safe for solo/ female travellers as well. Mr. Asanka deserves special mention as the chef. His Sri Lankan dishes are a must try! Well worth the price! Will definitely come back!

The Shakshuka breakfast was delicious, also the pasta dinner ~ as good as in Italy. Bed so comfortable, setting very peaceful. Pool was perfect for cooling down in the middle of the day and I loved watching monkeys swing through the trees while reading on a pool lounger. The owner arranged a jeep safari for me at local Eco Park ~ it was awesome to see elephants up so close!

Loved the place! I wanted a treehouse experience in Sigiriya, and this spot was absolutely perfect! The little house feels brand new and is incredibly comfortable. They’ve thought of everything, even small details like conveniently turning the porch lights on and off from upstairs and plenty of plugs to charge everything. The house is in a large, beautiful garden, with only one tree house there at the moment, ensuring a peaceful atmosphere. I even saw peacocks in the garden—they climbed the trees and watched me! The WiFi was surprisingly good (I didn’t expect to have it), and the family hosting the place was wonderful, going above and beyond to ensure I had a pleasant stay. I stayed for four nights, and it was, without a doubt, the best place I’ve stayed in Sri Lanka.

This place offers free bikes, don't miss the lake tour at sunset which is really a great nature experience and your own small Safari. Wild Grass is a must-visit! This is one of the few resorts I’ve been to where you get an up close and personal interaction with nature. My villa overlooked beautiful forest land all around me, and the pathways leading up to the villa and reception were so immersive. Most of all, they built a lot of anticipation about what the villa would like the first time I walked up because they are so well hidden from pathways and the other villas. The staff were so helpful in attending to all my needs, and service was constantly with a smile. The manager checked in with me before my stay to see if I had any special requests, which I’ve rarely experienced elsewhere. The food is incredible! I was worried about the spice levels in the food because I don’t handle it so well, but they made sure to tame it down for me, and it was great! It was wonderful to see how happy they were for me to try local cuisine, and with the taste, there’s no reason not to. The villa itself was bigger than any hotel I’ve ever been to. I enjoyed lovely Sri Lankan tea in my private living room and got to experience nature from my villa. We went on a guided rock tour, which was great to soak in the views of the property and the surroundings. We even saw Sigiriya Lion Rock from up there. All in all, I would highly recommend staying here. The villas are tastefully designed and spacious, the food is just mouthwatering, and the staff are amicable and attentive. You can’t ask for more.

A simply wonderful hotel in a fabulous location in the heart of Sigiriya. The staff are superb, and nothing is too much trouble for them. It doesn’t look anything special from the outside, but when you cross the threshold, you’ll see what a fabulous place this is to stay, with the free fresh fruit drink or coffees on arrival. There’s even a free walking tour to a vegetable garden. The restaurant serves great food, and the breakfasts are amazing.

We stayed at this hotel and had a wonderful experience. The service was excellent, and the staff were very friendly and respectful. The food was absolutely delicious, and the place itself is beautiful and well-maintained. The only issue we faced was the poor mobile signal in the area. Other than that, everything was perfect.

Lions rock is great, we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Lions rock is great, we thoroughly enjoyed it. We stayed for two nights in the end as we got to sigiriya late. This meant we ate dinner one night at the little hut which wass great, climbed the rock, then moved on to the habarana which was also interesting to wander and eat.

The staff were extremely friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with a smile. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, providing a perfect space to relax after exploring Dambulla. The hotel’s atmosphere is peaceful and charming, with a great balance between modern comfort and natural surroundings. The food was delicious and freshly prepared, and I truly appreciated the attention to detail in every aspect of the service. A beautiful place on earth that there are lots of 360 degree...

A beautiful place on earth that there are lots of 360 degree view points. But if it rains it will ruin your plans. So make sure you depend on weatherly and visit Matale when it shows many continuous sunny days. Even on cloudy forecasts do not visit as all mointain tops then will be covered and you will not see the sights. when it is humid leaches also will be active and will become a painful experience.

The weather is very calm.

The weather is very calm. Recommended time to start climb is 5.45 AM. So worthy to watch the surroundings from top of the Sigiriya. You can learn a lot about Sigiriya. You can get a guide if you want from the entrance.

We chose not to climb Sigiriya (having just recovered from...

We chose not to climb Sigiriya (having just recovered from Adam's Peak!) but instead chose the much shorter Pidurangala which afforded a fabulous view of Sigiriya. Highly recommended. A visit to the Bawa hotel, Heritance Kandalama, is well worth it as an insight into the brilliant architectural mind of Geoffrey Bawa.

Mainly there are 10-12 attractions in Matale. As I just stayed one day which was not sufficient to visit all the places. Among them where I went were also hampered due to the rain at time to time. Generally Matele was quit good tourist destination if it is planned well with couple of days.

And no wonder such a wonderful World Heritage Site kept popping up everywhere: Test it against the massive old fortress, the gorgeous frescoes, and images taken of landscapes from the summit, and there you’ll pick one of Sri Lanka’s greatest treasures. Not an easy or casual climb but certainly one that throws panoramic views so very far worth it and lucid into history at every step. Water gardens at the bottom quite worth a visit. One has to get there at dawn to avoid numerous tourists and scorching sun. Thus, in general, Sigiriya is a combination of artistic creation, engineering work of antiquity, and a miracle of nature, and a must-see site in Sri Lanka.

Dambulla is an excellent base for exploring Kandy,...

Dambulla is an excellent base for exploring Kandy, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Sigiriya. We stayed there for 4 Nights and could cover the heritage sites easily. Dambulla Caves are a must-see and so is Sigiriya (just 16 Kms. away). Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa are around an hours drive but Dambulla is much well-connected and less touristy.
