The view from the hotel is fantastic. Good location - it is close to the Lion Rock. There is a big gift shop and a nice cafe with hammock in 5 minute walk. Very peaceful and beautiful place. The guy from hotel kindly helped me to organise transport to Trincomalee. People who work there are very welcoming. The room was clean and spacious with good furniture, stylish. Good bathroom with hot water. The bed had a mosquito net. There was coffee, tea and kettle inside the room. They provide breakfast with the view over Lion Rock which is very beautiful.

What an absolute gem of a property, the infinity pool, breakfast, views from rooms and breakfast area, the hotel tour and hotel team & service were all excellent. Loved the rhythm and respect for nature. We could see elephants and horses from our room and spotted beautiful birds.

Perfect place!!! The cabanas are spacious and very clean with the best shower we had in Sri Lanka. The pool is clean and large and a bonus for hot hours, we were with children who really enjoyed it. The host, Gamani, is so kind, helpful and friendly. We couldn't ask for a better place than this.

Amazing due to several reasons: - super close to sigiriya city - at the same time very quiet in a large property without any neighbors - most importantly: it felt like sleeping directly in the nature with beautiful views into the park. A huge thank you to Niroshan, who truly went above and beyond for us. He helped us plan our days, suggested things to do, arranged everything we needed, and was always checking in to make sure we were having the best possible stay. His dedication and patience made our trip effortless. But it wasn’t just them — every single staff member we met was phenomenal. The housekeeping team, the restaurant staff, the front office, and everyone behind the scenes — every one of them greeted us with a smile, asked how our day was going, and made us feel like valued guests. Their warmth was so genuine, and it was clear they take real pride in their work. The villa itself was stunning — beautifully designed, spotless, and peaceful — but it was the people who made the experience truly special. The rooms were so big and comfortable, the staff attends to your needs making you feel pampered throughout your stay, my treatments were just amazing the doctor and therapist are so aware of what you need and they are so kind and attentive..The food when you eat feels so light and is totally tasty the presentation was so good.. I just couldn't wait long enough to take a picture before i ate it. There were peacocks everywhere, the yoga master is amazing.. My stay was unexpectedly amazing as it was a last minute stop this time but i will come again to stay longer as it was what i needed exactly..

From the moment I arrived, the place felt like a peaceful little island – calm, welcoming and full of heart. As a solo traveller, I really appreciated the gentle, discreet attention that made me feel safe, welcome and comfortable. I changed my plans and extended my stay here. The huge buffet, both at breakfast and dinner, offered a wide variety with something for everyone – always tasty and satisfying. I had a wonderful stay at Water Garden Sigiriya. The traditional Sri Lankan meals were absolutely delicious and gave me a true taste of the local culture. The service from the hotel staff was attentive and professional, making me feel very welcome throughout my stay. The swimming pool was simply perfect for relaxing, and the view of Sigiriya Rock from the property was breathtaking. It created a serene and unforgettable atmosphere. Overall, it was a luxurious and memorable experience that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Sigiriya.

This was our 4th visit to Wild Grass and once more it didn't disappoint. Loved everything! Wild Grass is absolutely stunning and so peaceful. The villas are very modern but sympathetic to the surroundings and so spacious. AC was very efficient. And the bathroom!!! Loved it, especially the outdoor shower. Since our last visit some of the villas now have pools overlooking the lake. I'm so glad we decided to go with one of these rooms. The staff and Mr Nimal all went out of their way to be helpful.

After a couple of days in Negombo and Anuradhapura, this place was heaven! The pool was so so nice, and staff and room were great! They were also very accommodating to help us getting a tuk tuk at 5 in the morning to go up to see sunrise and a driver to get us to Kandy. Can highly recommend to anyone visiting Sigiriya for a couple of days

I didn’t come to Sigiriya to explore the town itself, but...

I didn’t come to Sigiriya to explore the town itself, but purely for the iconic Sigiriya Rock—and it was absolutely worth it. The experience was incredible, with stunning views from the top. My friends and I climbed up for sunrise, which I highly recommend as the best time to go. Just be prepared: there are a lot of stairs—some carved directly into the rock, others metal and uneven. We visited in November just after the monsoon, so it was warm and the climb had us sweating buckets. If you plan on taking those perfect social-media photos, bring a spare T-shirt… or do what I did and let AI handle the magic! Although the ascent was tough and left us literally out of breath, the moment we reached the top made it all worth it. The views were truly breathtaking—quite fitting, since the climb already took my breath away.

A beautiful place on earth that there are lots of 360 degree view points. But if it rains it will ruin your plans. So make sure you depend on weatherly and visit Matale when it shows many continuous sunny days. Even on cloudy forecasts do not visit as all mointain tops then will be covered and you will not see the sights. when it is humid leaches also will be active and will become a painful experience.

Lions rock is great, we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Lions rock is great, we thoroughly enjoyed it. We stayed for two nights in the end as we got to sigiriya late. This meant we ate dinner one night at the little hut which wass great, climbed the rock, then moved on to the habarana which was also interesting to wander and eat.

We chose not to climb Sigiriya (having just recovered from Adam's Peak!) but instead chose the much shorter Pidurangala which afforded a fabulous view of Sigiriya. Highly recommended. A visit to the Bawa hotel, Heritance Kandalama, is well worth it as an insight into the brilliant architectural mind of Geoffrey Bawa.

Mainly there are 10-12 attractions in Matale. As I just stayed one day which was not sufficient to visit all the places. Among them where I went were also hampered due to the rain at time to time. Generally Matele was quit good tourist destination if it is planned well with couple of days.

The weather is very calm.

The weather is very calm. Recommended time to start climb is 5.45 AM. So worthy to watch the surroundings from top of the Sigiriya. You can learn a lot about Sigiriya. You can get a guide if you want from the entrance.

Dambulla is an excellent base for exploring Kandy,...

Dambulla is an excellent base for exploring Kandy, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Sigiriya. We stayed there for 4 Nights and could cover the heritage sites easily. Dambulla Caves are a must-see and so is Sigiriya (just 16 Kms. away). Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa are around an hours drive but Dambulla is much well-connected and less touristy.
