Large room and good shower and nice pool. Very friendly staff and we were walking back to the accommodation after dinner and the owner passed us in his car and told us to hop in and he drove us back to the accommodation which was lovely.

Everything was great. The host is friendly and very helpful! The place is clean and the location is excellent, middle of the jungle, 5 minutes walk from lions rock. We arrived in the middle of the night and the property owner was so helpful and nice and waited for us. They made us Sri Lanka breakfast and coffee in the morning :) The rooms are simple and clean, the AC works, the pool is clean. You can hear many birds in the morning and it’s a full jungle experience. We had a late flight and the check out was late which was also no problem!

We had an amazing stay here, the area was beautiful. Everything was clean and the food was delicious, many options to choose from. The manager - Bernard was extremely helpful(as well as other the other hotel staff). He made sure we had a good time, recommended restaurants and places to visit. He also took care of the transport and made sure that we got everything for the best price. Thanks to all the help we were able to fully relax and enjoy the trip. So beatiful and calmly place. Lake area is gorgeous and the view is stunning. Staff is helpful and friendly in every way. We booked at first only one night, but the we extended for 3 more days. Rooms were quiet big and comfortable. Clean and the food was ok, but not that special like we got in the rest of the country.

Lions rock is great, we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Lions rock is great, we thoroughly enjoyed it. We stayed for two nights in the end as we got to sigiriya late. This meant we ate dinner one night at the little hut which wass great, climbed the rock, then moved on to the habarana which was also interesting to wander and eat.

The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, providing a perfect space to relax after exploring Dambulla. The hotel’s atmosphere is peaceful and charming, with a great balance between modern comfort and natural surroundings. A beautiful place on earth that there are lots of 360 degree...

A beautiful place on earth that there are lots of 360 degree view points. But if it rains it will ruin your plans. So make sure you depend on weatherly and visit Matale when it shows many continuous sunny days. Even on cloudy forecasts do not visit as all mointain tops then will be covered and you will not see the sights. when it is humid leaches also will be active and will become a painful experience.

The weather is very calm.

The weather is very calm. Recommended time to start climb is 5.45 AM. So worthy to watch the surroundings from top of the Sigiriya. You can learn a lot about Sigiriya. You can get a guide if you want from the entrance.

We chose not to climb Sigiriya (having just recovered from...

We chose not to climb Sigiriya (having just recovered from Adam's Peak!) but instead chose the much shorter Pidurangala which afforded a fabulous view of Sigiriya. Highly recommended. A visit to the Bawa hotel, Heritance Kandalama, is well worth it as an insight into the brilliant architectural mind of Geoffrey Bawa.

Mainly there are 10-12 attractions in Matale. As I just stayed one day which was not sufficient to visit all the places. Among them where I went were also hampered due to the rain at time to time. Generally Matele was quit good tourist destination if it is planned well with couple of days.

I’ll never forget the day we spent climbing Sigiriya.

I’ll never forget the day we spent climbing Sigiriya. And no wonder such a wonderful World Heritage Site kept popping up everywhere: Test it against the massive old fortress, the gorgeous frescoes, and images taken of landscapes from the summit, and there you’ll pick one of Sri Lanka’s greatest treasures. Not an easy or casual climb but certainly one that throws panoramic views so very far worth it and lucid into history at every step. Water gardens at the bottom quite worth a visit. One has to get there at dawn to avoid numerous tourists and scorching sun. Thus, in general, Sigiriya is a combination of artistic creation, engineering work of antiquity, and a miracle of nature, and a must-see site in Sri Lanka.

Dambulla is an excellent base for exploring Kandy, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Sigiriya. We stayed there for 4 Nights and could cover the heritage sites easily. Dambulla Caves are a must-see and so is Sigiriya (just 16 Kms. away). Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa are around an hours drive but Dambulla is much well-connected and less touristy.
