We really like the stay. Has everything you need. The room was clean and has a fridge. The location of this accomodation is about 25 min easy walk to Sigiriya rock. We also rent a bikes and went around the area. Very cool. I reccomand for everyone :) They have very friendly dog Croxy. Also breakfast was very tasty. Everything you need in one place . From our room we can see the Sigiriya rock :)

We spent in hotel only 1 night but if we would stay in Sigiriya longer we would definetly stay here. The second we came, personal were so nice and helpful. Location of hotel is amazing, walk distance to Lion rock and 20 min with tuk tuk to Dambulla caves. The room was spacious, clean, with amazing view. Breakfast in morning was amazing, homemade mix of western and traditional sri lankan dishes with fresh cut fruit. 10/10

Brand new hotel, really clean, great sized room, comfy bed, lovely food and amazing staff. Bernard was an amazing host, helping us with tours to lions rock, dinner and transport to our next location. Our stay at Ayugiri Ayurveda Wellness Resort in Sigiriya was an incredibly rejuvenating and memorable experience. The resort is surrounded by lush, beautiful grounds, and we spent hours watching the playful monkeys, which were a delight to see. The environment itself was peaceful and tranquil, a perfect backdrop for our Ayurvedic journey. The staff were outstanding—every person we interacted with was attentive, kind, and genuinely caring. They treated us like royalty, ensuring we were well taken care of at all times. A particularly thoughtful touch was the fresh, refreshing drinks made for us by the bar men, which were perfect for the warm weather. We were also treated to a surprise breakfast in the tree house, which was an unforgettable experience, made even more magical by the beautiful setting and delicious food. We also enjoyed a fantastic evening on the lawn, where we had dinner while watching the Sri Lankan cultural show and enjoying the bonfire. It was a beautiful way to experience the local culture and a great addition to our stay. The Ayurvedic food was nourishing and, while it took me a day or two to adjust to the food and flavours, I felt fantastic after enjoying the meals. The only minor repetition was with some of the fruit, but the overall quality of the food was exceptional. During my brief period of being unwell, the doctor, nurses, and therapists were incredibly attentive and supportive. The Dr ensured I received the right care, offering advice, medication, and reassurance that I could reach out for help if needed. The therapists were wonderful, but it would have been even better to have a few more staff to offer a broader variety of techniques. Additionally, we would have appreciated more explanation about the powders and oils being applied during treatments, as understanding their benefits would have enhanced the experience.

We had a wonderful time while staying at this beautiful gem retreat hidden in the forest. First off, a sincere thank you to the staff and manager Nimal at Wild Grass for accommodating our late arrival in the evening and dinner arrangement. The hospitality of the staff is beyond our expectation. The Villa we stayed was contemporary, modern and spacious with surrounding glass interiors that let us feel so close to nature. Since the time we arrived there, the staff attended to all our requirements instantly. The service was just outstanding and the food was very tasty. We were so sad that we didn’t have time to extend our stay at this resort by a few more nights, but we will undoubtedly return for a longer stay the next time. Such a beautiful, serene, and peaceful setting for a vacation.

A stunning location and a resort with a unique feel to it. We loved that the rooms are all tucked away among rice paddies, lily ponds, or open out onto the water body that teems with bird life, fish, and some crocs. We appreciated the nature-conscious philosophy of the hotel and their efforts to respect the wildlife of the area. The evening dining is very good, the rooms beautiful, spacious, and tasteful and the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. The heat is quite something so we really recommend the rooms with small plunge pools.

Great place to stay for visiting Sigiriya Rock and the surrounding area. The facilities were very nice and the staff was very attentive (if at times overly so). It was nice to relax at the pool after exploring the rock area in the morning. My friends and I also enjoyed the spa, which was needed after hiking during our time in Sri Lanka. There were a lot of breakfast choices and I appreciated that it varied a bit the two mornings my friends and I were there.

I didn’t come to Sigiriya to explore the town itself, but...

I didn’t come to Sigiriya to explore the town itself, but purely for the iconic Sigiriya Rock—and it was absolutely worth it. The experience was incredible, with stunning views from the top. My friends and I climbed up for sunrise, which I highly recommend as the best time to go. Just be prepared: there are a lot of stairs—some carved directly into the rock, others metal and uneven. We visited in November just after the monsoon, so it was warm and the climb had us sweating buckets. If you plan on taking those perfect social-media photos, bring a spare T-shirt… or do what I did and let AI handle the magic! Although the ascent was tough and left us literally out of breath, the moment we reached the top made it all worth it. The views were truly breathtaking—quite fitting, since the climb already took my breath away.

A beautiful place on earth that there are lots of 360 degree view points. But if it rains it will ruin your plans. So make sure you depend on weatherly and visit Matale when it shows many continuous sunny days. Even on cloudy forecasts do not visit as all mointain tops then will be covered and you will not see the sights. when it is humid leaches also will be active and will become a painful experience.

Lions rock is great, we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Lions rock is great, we thoroughly enjoyed it. We stayed for two nights in the end as we got to sigiriya late. This meant we ate dinner one night at the little hut which wass great, climbed the rock, then moved on to the habarana which was also interesting to wander and eat.

We chose not to climb Sigiriya (having just recovered from...

We chose not to climb Sigiriya (having just recovered from Adam's Peak!) but instead chose the much shorter Pidurangala which afforded a fabulous view of Sigiriya. Highly recommended. A visit to the Bawa hotel, Heritance Kandalama, is well worth it as an insight into the brilliant architectural mind of Geoffrey Bawa.

Mainly there are 10-12 attractions in Matale. As I just stayed one day which was not sufficient to visit all the places. Among them where I went were also hampered due to the rain at time to time. Generally Matele was quit good tourist destination if it is planned well with couple of days.

The weather is very calm.

The weather is very calm. Recommended time to start climb is 5.45 AM. So worthy to watch the surroundings from top of the Sigiriya. You can learn a lot about Sigiriya. You can get a guide if you want from the entrance.

Dambulla is an excellent base for exploring Kandy,...

Dambulla is an excellent base for exploring Kandy, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Sigiriya. We stayed there for 4 Nights and could cover the heritage sites easily. Dambulla Caves are a must-see and so is Sigiriya (just 16 Kms. away). Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa are around an hours drive but Dambulla is much well-connected and less touristy.
