A very cute property in Bentota. The resort is really amazing, worth staying. The beach is just a small walk away, crossing the rail path- which gives another wonderful experience. The food is simply amazing.. The best we had in our trip to Sri Lanka. Special mention to the wonderful Chef and all the staff for the wonderful hospitality

We recently spent five days at this beautiful hotel, and from the moment we arrived, we felt completely at home. Every single person working here deserves the highest praise: From the reception and restaurant teams to the spa staff, gardeners, and service crew. Everyone was incredibly friendly, genuine, and always ready to help with a smile. A very special thank you goes to our butler, Badde, who made our stay unforgettable. His attention to detail and thoughtful surprises turned our holiday into something even more special. Beyond his professionalism, he is simply a wonderful person, full of positive energy. The property itself is breathtaking. Located on a large rock overlooking the coast, it feels as if you are floating between forest, beach, and sea. The sound of the waves is always present, and the views in every direction are magical. Despite being around 30 years old, the hotel feels modern and very well maintained. Improvements are constantly being made. The architecture and interior design are unique and tasteful, far more characterful than in many new hotels. Some reviews mention that certain areas might feel a little “aged,” but in our opinion, that criticism is entirely misplaced. Naturally, not every pool or wall can be rebuilt every few years and there is absolutely no reason to. Everything is clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The food is another highlight. Even after five days, we kept discovering new dishes to try, each one beautifully presented and full of flavor. The variety and quality are truly impressive. All in all, this hotel combines hospitality, design and experience in a way that’s very rare to find. We left deeply relaxed and already looking forward to returning one day.

Our stay on the Yathra Houseboat will always stay in our minds and hearts. This is our second time within 3 years. We had a vacation of our life with all the comfort and pampering by the staff on the boat. The cruise on the river provided rare glimpse of few exotic birds and a large group of monkeys. The narrations by the Manager of the Dedduwa Boat House about those birds were very informative. The Skipper was kind enough to stop along the river bank to watch the birds closely and take photographs. The candle-lit dinner and the night spend on the upper deck was simply magical. The next day my husband even managed catch some fish while cruising. The staff arranged them to be prepared for our lunch and that dish was out of this world. The staff went an extra mile to make us happy. The bedrooms and the facilities on board were above standard. This is the best destination we spend while in Sri Lanka. Keep it up Yathra and we will back again next year.

Another beautiful hotel of Cinnamon Hotels group. It's accommodation spreads over two wings. Has a separate pool for guests who stay in deluxe category or above rooms. Delightful room with a very good bathroom and a separate toilet. Nice lighting setup. Room had a direct access to the pool. But the noice was a bit loud in the pool so changed to another room on second day. Nathalee has organised this for us and special thanks for her. The housekeeping service was excellent. Room service meals were delicious. Breakfast was a massive buffet at 'Bufe' restaurant. Multiple dishes to select from different meal types. Special thank for 'Yasindu' a waiter from the restaurant who is doing a great job.

First off the staff were super friendly and inviting. Smooth check in process and an oil lamp lighting was done before moving into the rooms. Room was super spacious, clean and comfortable with close access to the bar, pool area and beach area. Swimming pool and other facilities such as the gym was well maintained. Staff were always attentive and helpful at all times and in all areas around the property. There was a good spread of food at the buffet and an alternative A la carte menu as well. 100% recommended ✅️

Club Villa was such a beautiful place to stay! We stayed there for 2 days at the end of a busy trip travelling around Sri Lanka and we needed rest and relaxation! Everything about it was exceptional - best shower, comfortable spacious room! We loved the gardens and pool! The food was one of the best that we had in Sri Lanka! Not many food options in the area. Beach is okay not great. Ocean beyond the reef is very rough, no real swimming area. Area is also not very upscale, compared to other areas we have been to in sri lanka.

My favourite place was the turtle hatchery. Most meals were eaten at the Hotel. Very easy to get around. There is a tour agency opposite the hotel entrance, it cant get any better than that. It is easy to take tuk tuk or van taxis. Superior beach front view. Beautiful gardens and swimming pool. Well done to the management and staff for this top class facility. Local fishermen were easy to approach and social chat with.

Aluthgama is a reasonably quiet town,. İt offers a bustling shopping area with plenty of local shops that provide the necessities of life without the over abundance of tourist style outlets. Local transportation as in tuk tuk are plentiful and very cheap. İt is surrounded by beautiful open spaces showcasing the areas natural beauty. İt is however a two hour drive to Colombo airport.

Villa 252 Kosgoda, With its beautiful sandy beaches. Not too busy and very pleasant to stay and lots to do in the erea. A visit to the Galbokka Sea Turtle conservation is very worthwhile! Or a wonderful massage at the Aryuvedic center. Or take a boad safari at the Maduganga lake. The General Tsunami Photography Museum in Telwatta is a must see if you want to know more about this terrible event. From here a trip to the 'Ducht Fort' in Galle is also recommended. In short, Kosgoda is a beautiful place to start or end your Sri Lanka trip…

We did not venture into Bentota. We are expats living in Colombo so no need to explore the city. The hotel was at the right spot for a 100% relaxing weekend away with no distractions. The ocean is not that swimmable as the sea was very rough and looked dangerous. The pool was a welcome alternative. We drove to Galle for the Saturday to watch the game between Springboks and Kiwis. That was not too far, one hour away and a very scenic route. The hotel was also fully booked so must be popular.

Lovely place to relax. Large beach.

Lovely place to relax. Large beach. Not many restaurants on the beach and not as populated with tourists as other areas we visited, but we loved spending time in Shah Shah's and found a sun bed to relax in with an umbrella. Also recommend Pier 88 to eat out in near by Aluthgama, lovely river views and good quality food. Also recommend Kandoori if you fancy a bit of Indian cuisine. We didn't do many day trips as we had already done some in Mirissa but we did do a boat safari that was pleasant enough. Great location if you want to be relatively near to Colombo and the airport. We mostly relaxed by the pool and had Ayurvedic massages so recommend finding a nice hotel with good facilities. Worth a visit.

Ahungalla is a little village, hence to see places around...

Ahungalla is a little village, hence to see places around you need bus or tuk tuk services, they run on main road all the time. We loved Bentota - a resort 20 min on a bus - it had calm beach and cafes to eat/drink around. Just outside Bentota there is village where you can get good shopping for clothes, gifts etc. Galle is 50min drive on a bus from Ahungalla. It's a lovely historic place to visit. We liked Ahungalla as it's less busy/noisy than other towns, and the villa we stayed was 5min walk to the beach. There is a good supermarket for basic items.

Stayed at Thaala Bentota recently and had a pleasant experience. The location is excellent—right by the beach with easy and direct access, making it perfect for a relaxing getaway. The hotel itself is well-maintained with a calm and welcoming atmosphere. The breakfast buffet was a highlight, offering a good variety and fresh options. Dinner buffet had fewer choices in comparison, but the quality was still decent and satisfying for the price. Overall, a very good place to stay if you’re looking for beachfront accommodation with good service and a peaceful vibe.
