The hotel has Japanese style rooms where you sleep on a futon, it´s a nice experience! We had an amazing view on the mountains. The staff is friendly, the location is also very close to the station. Breakfast was very tasty and varied. The onsen in the hotel was also a great experience. They have lockers where you can safely store luggage. It would recommend this hotel!

Only 3 advantage of this hotel are : 1. Free night cup hour ., free alcohol and snacks . 2. The public spa big enough 3. family with kids you can come to have a visit Other than those are poor. Everything was amazing! To start, the staff were friendly, professional, and helpful. The room was lovely and cosy with a beautiful river view as promised (during snow season this was especially impressive). It was nice to walk around the facilities comfortably in the provided yukata (Japanese loungewear). The included dinner and breakfast were delicious, nutritious, and generous (both were all-you-can-eat buffet style). Booking for the private onsen and other activities was easy from the front desk. The private onsen was incredible and just a short walk from the hotel. It's set in individual huts where two of the walls can be fully opened to the outside, in case you want the outdoor onsen experience. Late night table tennis back at the hotel was fun! The public onsen (within the hotel building) also had a beautiful view. Don't worry about setting up your futon bedding - the staff will have that ready for you when you come back from dinner :) It's worth arriving early (at check-in time) and taking advantage of all that this hotel has to offer.

The hotel is unique with historical memories. Nice view and relax for those who love the old historic stay and food. Love the breakfast and also have the light dinner set experience. As the hotel is on a hill, can catch a taxi to any place if not driving. We went to a Chinese restaurant and the owner is nice and warming. Overall, I love the place and surrounding.

Hidden gem! We loved our stay at this authentic traditional Japanese hotel, walking in kimono and resting in onsen. The rooms were cozy and spacious. The hotel staff was really friendly and helpful. The location is great, surrounded by nature and a short hike. We went for waterfalls and AMAZING Nikko shrines just in 15-30 min drive. Highly recommend!

I really enjoyed the city of Nikko—it is truly beautiful and delightful to visit. Its location in the mountains, surrounded by valleys and stunning natural scenery, creates a very peaceful and refreshing atmosphere. I highly recommend visiting this city, especially during autumn when the colors are absolutely breathtaking. However, many restaurants close quite early, and some even stopped accepting guests before their posted closing time. In the evening, most shops were already closed, which made it a bit challenging to find dining options at night. For those planning a trip here, it is much more convenient to have your own car, as the buses often arrive late and are frequently full. Despite these minor inconveniences, Nikko remains a wonderful destination and is definitely worth visiting.

We liked the room it was quite spacious. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. The hotel was an easy bus ride from the main station and there were many restaurants nearby. The best thing about Nasushiobara is the hot springs.

The best thing about Nasushiobara is the hot springs. It has the Shiobara hot spring village, which has a rich spring quality and has been loved by royalty and literary masters. You can enjoy the traditional hot springs surrounded by nature in spite of the easy access from Tokyo on the Tohoku Shinkansen, which is just an hour away from Tokyo. Each hot spring in the city is different in scale and taste, but it is an adult resort where you can spend your luxurious time by soaking in the hot spring to your heart’s content.

Nasu is well known and loved by Japanese people.

Nasu is well known and loved by Japanese people. The Emperor has a summer house here as it tends to be cooler in summer. It’s little known by westerners and therefore is not catered to westerners. Parts of Nasu are very beautiful and other parts are set up for families - eg the zoo and the Dairy farm. There are some lovely restaurants and places to visit here but you really need a car to do it.

We stayed here after a difficult situation because we had a car accident on our trip. The host was incredibly kind and caring. Even though we arrived late at night, she waited for us and welcomed us warmly. The room was clean, beautiful, spacious, and fully prepared with everything we needed. It truly felt like our own home. The next morning, because of our injuries and hospital visit, we asked if we could check out later. The host didn’t just accept, she also offered to take us to the hospital herself. Later, when we struggled to find a taxi for our long return trip to Tokyo, she kindly arranged help for us again. Her uncle drove us safely, and he was very friendly during the ride. We are deeply grateful for their kindness. This place is not just a place to stay — it is a home with wonderful people. We highly recommend staying here. Thank you so much for everything. — Ashraf & wife

This quiet gem is worth the trip!

This quiet gem is worth the trip! It’s a one hour bus ride on a very clean bus to arrive from the airport to a train station connection. There is so much rich history here, beautiful things to see and wonderful food to discover! Home to the oldest school and strongest shogun clan. Samurai parade in February if you can handle the cold. 10/10 come visit Ashikaga!

We were in Nikko for 2 nights, 3 would have been better. We walked the area of Nikko City.
