This unique ryokan is perfectly situated to explore the Iya Valley from. Whether you're on foot or have a car. I travelled on foot, walking to the vine bridge which is only 4 minutes away. The bus stop it literally across the road from the entrance. Family run and very well managed. There are a few breathtakingly stunning onsens you can visit as a day visitor in the valley.

I really enjoyed my stay here. Very clean and comfortable place with capsule beds where you can pull down the curtain to have privacy. Although there are many beds, I never got bothered by the noise of other guests. There is a shared kitchen with a refrigerator and microwave and you can even cook your own food! From the kitchen, there is an amazing view of the city. Nice shower rooms with shampoo and soap supply and there were even skin creams and stuff available! But my biggest enjoyment was the buffet breakfast. You pay a little bit more but wow, I've never had such an amazing buffet breakfast and I travelled a lot in my life! I had to try all the different kinds of food and even while writing about it now I wish I could go back to enjoy it again. Must-stay place in Takamatsu.

There is a public bath on the third floor, but upon arriving you may be given a ticket for the nearby large public bath, where most of the towns people seem to go in the evening.

The location of this hotel is excellent. There is a tram stop and a Family Mart right across the street, a great bagel place around the corner and it is also adjacent to the castle park. It is also near the train station. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was delicious.

Perfect location less than a minute from the stairs to the shrine. Only a 10 minute walk to the train. Loads of shops line the stairs. The hotel itself was exceptional: staff, facilities, onsen, restaurant, room - all were absolutely top notch. One of our best stays in Japan!

Matsuyama is a city with a lot to offer. From the stunning views from Matsuyama castle, to the history of Dogo Onsen. It has many hidden gems in the form of cafes, traditional craft and cultural experiences and is a good jumping off point to see the rest of Ehime/Shikoku.

Takamatsu is really a great place to visit as this is the main hub when you want to travel to Setouchi islands , famous for udon , fresh sea food , Olive product, soya sauce, seasame oil too. Tons of food stuff can be bought from that area. Also lots of historic places to visit

Perfect size city , all the mod cons without the mad cap rat race of Tokyo or Osaka. Excellent amount of restaurants and food outlets with a great food hall at the bottom of the main shopping area. Close to the ocean and mountains with out door pursuits like hiking and white water rafting a short train ride up the valley .

Tokushima is a nice and vibrant city, that gets the most of its hype during the great Awa Odori Matsuri, held in mid August. If the temperatures are too hot for you, you can still see Awa Odori performances all year around. From Tokushima is also easy to reach Naruto, with its famous whirlpools.

A small town set in a valley surrounded by steep forested...

A small town set in a valley surrounded by steep forested mountains and a majestic river Gateway to Iya Valley and other stunning sights. No shortage of top class food options and bars (particularly Casual Bar for great fun and karaoke and Cafe Addcolor). And the locals are some of the very nicest and generous people I have met. Can easily spend days just walking around the town and hidden laneways to shrines and spectacular scenery. I will definitely come back.

I ejoyed my stay in the Kabuki theatre, where a well-knolweged guide gave a great commentary. The trip to Konpira San was interesting. You will enojoy the walk to the main builiding, the grand view of Kotohira, the souvenir stores, and the museum with old Japanese paintings and art works.

It was a fantastic lovely and cosy and traditional japanese accomodation. I recommend it for everybody! Its surrounded by the beautiful Shimantoriver for walks, biketours and swimming in the summer. The host is so friendly and helpful. Just go there and see!

The Best part about Matsuyama was where we stayed.

The Best part about Matsuyama was where we stayed. It was Ryokan Kominka Mitsuhama, and it was detailed by a true artist. You have 2 floors of space with the bedroom upstairs and a large living room downstairs. The living room is surrounded by 2 different mature and well lit Japanese gardens. One had many Koi swimming in the ponds. So lovely! It was in a quiet, low key neighborhood but just 2 blocks to the river and near a little working fisherman's bay. The boats were squid fisherman with lights strung on them because they fish at night with the lights to attract the squid. There were plenty of small local restaurants and bakeries. was there for the Setouchi Triennale so Takamatsu was the ferry dep point. Ritsurin Gardens are well worth an evening stroll.. happened across a few other nice locla music events -unexpected encounters with friendly locals were a highlight. all in all not a bad place to visit..
