Location was great, just across the road for chairlift (you can’t possibly be any nearer) and 2 min walk to another chairlift that brings you up to connect to other ski fields We enjoyed the all inclusive, dinner for 5 days was not repeated for mains, some sides repeated overall meals while not fancy, they were tasty and you won’t go hungry. Bath was also great way to start and end the day. The staff is the best, smiling elderly aunties and front desk.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at Kodama during our family skiing trip in Japan, and it was truly an exceptional experience. The hotel's location was absolutely perfect—practically ski-in, ski-out, which made it incredibly convenient for our family of four, especially with young children in tow. We could easily access the slopes without any hassle. One of the highlights of our stay was the free parking, which eased our travel worries and allowed us to enjoy day trips without the usual parking stress. The staff at the hotel were incredibly helpful and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. Their friendliness and attentiveness made a significant difference in our overall experience. We opted for the half-board meal plan, which included both breakfast and dinner. The dining experience was delightful; the dinner service was a sit-down affair featuring three types of protein each night, expertly prepared and beautifully presented. This was a refreshing change from the buffet-style meals that many other ski hotels seem to offer, allowing us to enjoy quality time together at the table. The rooms were in good condition and provided a cozy retreat after a long day on the slopes. They were spacious enough for our family, and we appreciated the comfort and cleanliness during our stay. Overall, Kodama offered a fantastic skiing experience complemented by excellent service, convenient amenities, and delicious dining options. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a family-friendly ski hotel in Japan. We can’t wait to return!

We were surprised several times by this great place. We were picked up from the station, drove to the monkey park the next morning, and also drove back to the train after our stay. The staff was incredibly nice and welcoming. We really enjoyed the free access to 9 onsens, the Ryokan gave us a robe, jacket and wooden shoes to walk from one onsen to the other. We also had a special request for a private onsen and they booked it for us on the day of arrival, it cost 800yen per person. The breakfast was good, and the coffee was not traditional, but a great quality latte.

Extremely friendly and helpful staff. The staff took great care and effort in making sure a vegetarian dinner was provided. Breakfast was good and had a few vegetarian options. The room with personal onsen was fantastic There is a free bus to the monkey park departing at 0930 and pickup at 1230 giving adequate time to see the monkeys. They were kind to offer free pickup and drop off at Yudanaka station making things extremely convenient for us. Impressed by the hospitality and kindness.

Incredible service and incredible overall experience. It's like staying in a fancy cabin in the snow. The lounge area with the giant fireplace is awesome, very nice food, very spacious rooms and first class facilities such as the onsens and indoor swimming pool. The decor could be interpreted as dated (as other reviews have stated) but we felt this simply adds to the warmth and cosiness of the establishment. The service here is seriously next level and it is fantastic value for money.

The monkeys are marvellous.

The monkeys are marvellous. Of course they are attracted to the valley by the food they receive regularly but they are totally free to come and go. So entertaining and endearing to observe how they interact. The park was created in 1964. Beautiful forest in a mountainous area that grows apples, peaches and grapes and lots of vegetables. Pay attention to the hotel you choose. Avoid Hotel Housei.
