Lovely place too stay and the owners are quiet supportive. Just recently opened so everything is new and modern. The room was simple but comfortable on the second floor. It had a decent size and didn’t lag anything. What I liked the most was the Izakaya below which served nice food and drinks and is run by the owners as well.

The staff spoke good english and were extemely helpful. The food included in the half board price served in private dining areas was amazingly well presented traditional Japanese food. That looked and tasted out of this world. Some of the best food we had on our trip to Japan and we stayed in several expensive Ryokan. Lovely private or public outdoor onsen or in a subterranean cave. The Noto peninsular is still recovering from the earthquake of Jan 2024 and the terrible flooding in Sept 2024 but a trip there is well worthwhile to see the scenery and see how well the repairs are progressing

First of all, a very big THANK YOU to Takayama Megumi-san. She helped me to look for another hotel when I needed to stay in Wajima for another night, as Umenoya was full and unable to extend my stay.I cannot thank her enough for being so kind and helpful although it was my mistake. I ended up having to stay for one more night in Wajima as I wanted to support Wajima Mobile Morning Market (Wajima Morning Market or Asaichi) was razed to the ground by a huge fire due to the Noto Peninsula Earthquake on 01 Jan 2024 and then in Sept the same year, there were severe floods. Reconstruction and recovery is a very long process and I hope my visit this time can show the people of Wajima that they are not forgotten at all by the world. Wajima is recovering slowly but surely. It was a pleasant surprise for me that Umenoya is just a stone throw away from Juzo Jinja, the focal point of the previous Wajima Asaichi and it is a key collection point for donation supplies. The facilities are very new,I loved the Hinoki scent when I slid the fusuma door open to my room. It is more than adequate for my needs, the single room which I stayed in. Thank you very much Guest House Umenoya and all the staff-san, for taking very good care of me and making me feel welcome. Thank you Arigato Gozaimashita!

The food was really good. The view from the room, the big bath and the breakfast area was really nice too, but it was cloudy when we were there.

The seaside accomodation was just as advertised.

The seaside accomodation was just as advertised. The host was helpful and a delight. She made sure we had a lovely 2 nights there. Rooms were well presented and large with amenities that were first rate. The glass manufacture workshop and the glass museum were well woth the trip. The glass gallery is world class and the architecture special and suited to its location. The aquarium was disappointing. Show was good but the maintenance of the facility needs work.

Beautiful place, but nothing else around there, except for walks, but if you stay 2nights then no need to go anywhere. Also, the Top Suites are the best because they are more private and newer , and the more reasonable rooms are smaller and even with the balcony you can see in the room next door, my next trip will be in the Gulf suite where I intend to relax , the food is great , and I'm a Vegetarian which they managed nicely , except for the White bread at breakfast , they couldn't do a Japanese style breakfast , but dinner was OK Japanese style. Onsen is great , but mind your head if your tall as I wacked my head going to Breakfast ,,,, they need to give a warning there. Otherwise save up and take the best room /suite you can and stay for at least 2 nights to get one full day there . I, will finish by saying this is a very special place in Japan ,one of my top 5.
