We decided to stay overnight in Miyajima and it was one of the best experiences we had in our trip. Staff is really kind and professional. We had a twin room with extra bed and it was big, clean and perfectly equipped. Nice touches like the complimentary momiji manju and the yukata you get to choose at check-in. Breakfast was good, but dinner was the best we had during our stay in Japan. We went for the kaiseki-style and we absolutely recommend it (superb sashimi and chestnut ice cream). Definitely try the outdoor section of the onsen, as well as relaxing on the outside food bath after a day walking through the island. This ryokan caters mainly to Japanese clients, so it feels less touristy and more like the real thing. It's not cheap, but nothing is in Miyajima, and in our opinion, it was worth every penny.

Beautiful traditional house with a comfortable and lovely guestroom. Warm and friendly welcome from the host who speaks english. Great breakfast. Water, cookies and some drinks prepared in the room. Shower and toilet in the 1st floor wasn't a problem for us; still very private. Infos about the accomodation and the island in english, french, italian and german available. One night wasn't enough. We would recommens more...

An absolutely beautiful traditional ryokan set right on the edge of the park and surrounded by gardens. When I arrived, I received such a warm welcome and was escorted to my room and given tea, a snack, clothing and towels for my stay. My room was spacious and tastefully decorated - seating area by the window was a highlight to sit at in the morning and write or read, surrounded by trees and nature. The onsen was immaculately clean and relaxing. I was a little nervous about the traditional kaiseki dinner and breakfast because I’ve never tried anything like that before, but it was delicious and thoughtfully presented. The service was exceptional and it was great having the same host for both dinner and breakfast.

Excellent hotel, very good quality dinner prepared by Chef Aiko Yamanaka. The staff is super attentive and very friendly. The onsen is great with one outside overlooking the O-Torii. Super recommended, if you plan to visit Miyajima be sure to book at least one night in this Hotel, you will never regret it. My congratulations to all the hotel staff. The main reasson to visit was the Itsukushima Shrine but there was plenty of other shrines and temples to visit. The ropeway to Mt, Misen was great. The hike down not so much (not a trail, mainly steps - hard on the knees.

Miyajima was great for walking around and doing the ropeway to the top. A lot of little eateries and street food- good if you like seafood. Scenic with the giant Tori gate and shrines, woods, deer walking around. Miyajima was one of my favorite spots on our trip to Japan.

It does get busy during the day when lots of tourists come over by ferry for the day however we hired bikes and managed to stay clear of the crowds for the most part. The Island becomes very quite in the evening which is perfect, I would advise that you book a restaurant as lots of the island closes around 5-6pm so anything that is open later gets booked up. We were very lucky to just get the last free table on two occasions. Also the deer wandering around especially in the dusk and evening before al the ferries drop off are enchanting, however they are not like the deer in Nara park and there are lots of signs that remind people not to feed or bother the deer, not everyone follows these rules which is disappointing.
