Everything! The beds were comfy, the room was spacious and clean. The service was exceptional. There is a complimentary small breakfast with pastries every morning which was a really neat touch. The staff are very hospitable and can't do enough for you. The location is wonderful, just 15 minutes from the busy centre but the immediate area is so quiet! It's also very close to the river for morning walks.

The hotel, the staff and the location were all 10/10 We booked it at a great price point and were super happy with the choice. The hotel is located in a wonderful area with a lot of shops, not so far away from the most crowded locations. The room was very spacious, comfortable and came with a washing machine. It was cleaned daily and we really enjoyed. We didn't try the breakkie, so I cannot comment on that. Would repeat stay and recommend it.

Amazing hotel and design. The room was close to perfection with all the comfort. Staff was incredibly helpful and professional. This place felt like the closest to perfection I ever had in hotellerie. Nowadays a lot of hotel have the 5 star but they are far away from the standard of a real one. This is a real one.

Staying in this wonderful hotel was an experience. It was like being in a giant art gallery. Everywhere you looked, there was art. The interior was very tasteful, fun, spacious, bright and eye-catching. The staff were extremely friendly. My room was large, with a very comfortable bed. The breakfast buffet was great - a wide variety of tasty Japanese and continental items. Will definitely stay here again.

One of the few APA chain hotels that had twin rooms with separate beds. Perfect if you travel with group and by train. Breakfast includes a big variety of both national and continental dishes, as well as home-made ice cream. A great opportunity to relax in the hot SPA baths at the hotel in the evening if you have spent the whole day on your feet. Very responsive and nice English speaking staff!

I had a great stay at Sakura Terrace Hotel in Kyoto. The location is excellent—just a short walk from a metro station, making it super convenient to get around the city. ofc it's overcrowded, but it's worth visiting nevertheless - for the sights, that is. The problem here is the general attitude of the locals. Lots of 'no photos', 'do not enter', 'private alley' (lol) signs, cool and aloof people (except super kind ones at one pharmacy) - the least welcoming place I've been to in Japan (when arriving to Osaka right after Kyoto, the contrast is staggering). I would not wish to return any time soon tbh.

Beautiful surroundings, not many tourists, cable cars to both sides of the water bridge were great, I went on a hike on one (although they want you to pay for the bus, it was a bit much, so I walked to the temple). I walked across the water bridge about 3 times, great walk, and a great solo trip even for women alone. I recommend it. I did also one day trip to boat villgae Inu - amazing. Recommend to go on the boat with locals.

Kyoto has a rich history with many temples and gardens.

Kyoto has a rich history with many temples and gardens. Spring, cherry blossom (mid March til early April) and autumn foliage( mid November til early December) are the main attractions for us. There are many restaurants to suit everyone. The transport within the city is excellent, bus, train and metro and for the most part is fixed fare all of which accept the ICOCA card. If your interests are for the cultural aspects of the city you will need at least 10 days, our last visit was 21 days.

I especially recommend it to travelers from overseas.

I especially recommend it to travelers from overseas. If you are sightseeing in Kyoto, Nara, or Osaka for a few days, staying at this facility and using Kameoka as your base will be the best way to travel to Kansai. Like taking a day trip from your home. If your schedule is 2 nights and 3 days or 3 nights and 4 days, it is definitely a good deal even if you add transportation expenses. You can't stay in a house in Kyoto or Nara.

I would recommend a minimum of 5 nights in Kyoto in order to enjoy so much more than just the big temple or shrine spots where most tour busses take you. Kyoto has some wonderful alternative experiences if you prepare for them in advance. The creative arts, the marshal arts, the variety of cuisines, can be explored in and around Kyoto with guides who provide special knowledge and experiences in each of the 5 areas of the city, north, east, west, central, and south. The only things the city does not provide is adequate space for comfort in walking the streets or finding seats on busses in many of its most crowded areas. Taxis are limited due to driver shortages. Learn the subway system: It's great for getting a seat and getting somewhere fast. Enjoy all types of Japanese cuisine and the many 'ethnic foods' around the city. Walk the length of Kiyamachi-dori and Pontocho. Walk the Gion Geiko district and the Nishiki Market street for sure starting from behind the Daimayu Department Store (Explore their basement market as well as that in Takashimaya. Nishiki market street leads easterly into the Teramachi district between Shijo and Sanjo streets. I loved Kyoto soI I chose to retire here ten years ago.
