Located literally 1 minute walk from the station. The room was bigger than expected with a king sized bed (by Australian sizing) which was great! Coin operated washer/dryers available. The hotel was very clean with friendly staff. Starbucks right next door plus 7-11 and other cafes and restaurants.

Great location. We left something in the room and the hotel staff contacted us to inform us about it. They even sent it to our hotel in Nagoya. Excellent service! Thank you.

Located within walking distance of Echizen Daibutsu and Katsuyama castle museum, the hotel is a great place to stay in Katsuyama. There's bus connection to and from the station, though only a few times a day. The room was spacious and comfortable, the breakfast buffet offers great choices. The Japanese style bath with indoor and outdoor areas is a great place to relax after the day.

It's a lot quieter than Tokyo or Osaka in comparison, but because of this felt very peaceful and I had a wonderful time exploring the town. The dinosaurs were very cute! Unfortunately I didn't manage to stay long enough for my liking, but definitely look forward to returning in the future.

We were visiting friends

We were visiting friends We loved the mountain onsen, visiting artists Miyuki Ueda in Takefu and doing her workshop, we also loved visiting our friends bar Tree Cafe. We enjoyed the very old tea shop and a great Sake store. Lots to do in a small town and great food too.

I think Ono is a lovely small town with extremely friendly people. When you go climbing to the castle, people say hi as they walk by (which is pretty rare in Japan in my opinion). When you go visit the morning market, the obachan starts to chat with you about their lives and families. The water in Ono is one of the best in Japan. Therefore everything I tried has been super tasty (soba, soy katsudon, sake, wine, dango, coffee, rice...literaily everything.). If you are a foodie, I recommend to make it a two or three day trips at least cuz there's no way to try everything in a day😆

We enjoyed the parts of town we were able to experience during our short stay. The train station and surrounding area is dinosaur themed. It's really quite cool and very unique. During our stay we visited the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum which our family (kids are aged 14 & 11) enjoyed. The train (and bus) trip to the museum was scenic and very pleasant. Due to the size of Fukui it was easy to get around. There are plenty of places to eat and shop (again not too far from the train station). I wish we could've stayed a little longer.

We picked Tsuruga because it was only 2.5 hours drive from Chubu International Airport. It was perfect as a base to explore the areas around. Tsuruga is a seaside town so there were plenty of seafood if you are a sashimi and sushi fan.

Fukui has a beautiful modern railroad station serving up old-school rail lines that go through the rice fields to the surrounding area as well as Japan's fastest Shinkansen to Osaka and Kyoto. This station's decor showcases dinosaurs celebrating the largest discovery of remains in Japan to be found nearby. The station's tourist bureau, which has an English-speaking staff member available, has tours to the dinosaur museum and several other local sites, but trains and dinosaurs must be a wonderful way to travel with children. The tourist bureau provided me with a local walking map to gardens and a ruined castle even though I actually traveled to Fukui to only to visit Eiheiji, a Zen Monastery active since the 13th-century -- which was wonderful.
