It feels like living in an ancient castle surrounded by breathtaking scenery. The grounds are magical — peaceful and full of historical charm. This is not the first time we have visited the hotel-SPA, and we can say that in this case we found ourselves quite satisfied. Being able to swim in the thermal water pool is a wonderful experience. Also pleased that the thermal baths could be taken right in the room. The most valuable thing about the hotel is its location. Whilst the service was decent, it's accessibility to the main wine regions, and views in all directions was still the most important thing. Stepping out on the patio or climbing out of the pool we were directly frozen by the incredible beauty of Val d'Orcia. The staff were very attentive and tried their best to help. For example, the nearest bridge over the Orcia River was closed for repairs and we would have had to take a circuitous route to the restaurant. However, the member of staff at reception found out that the bridge was accessible at the weekend, even though all the navigators showed otherwise, and we saved a lot of travelling time. One of the most powerful experiences was a wine tasting in the Castle, conducted by the hotel sommelier. He told us about local wine in a wonderful, clear and interesting way, showed us vineyards, shared the secrets of their care and explained the peculiarities of each variety tasted. We were very impressed and grateful for this unique experience!

The hotel has an exceptionally beautiful location with a fantastic view of San Gimignano. The apartment in the pavilion was an upgrade and exceeded our expectations with its amenities and offered every comfort. The breakfast was not only delicious but also plentiful and left nothing to be desired. The entire staff from reception, restaurant up to the general manager were always supportive and extremely friendly. Also a nice surprise the hotel noticed my wife birthday und surprised her with a large bouquet of flowers and a bottle of sparkling wine. Overall a great experience, I can highly recommend this hotel. For sure we will come again.

The spas are divine, the property itself is beautiful, full of art and beautiful spots inside & out to relax. There were lovely surprises, too - like a games room in the evenings, where we were able to have cocktails and play Monopoly or dominoes. The staff couldn't have been lovelier - they made my daughter feel like a princess.

A beautiful historic town and one of our favourite stays on our 10-day Italy roadtrip. We traveled as a couple (in our 35-40's), and highly recommend staying at La Romantica Lolo, having a private wine tasting at Ercolani, dining at Ristorante La Grotta, and truffle hunting at Podere il Casale (15-min drive).

The town is nice.

The town is nice. It is a quiet time of the year, but the merchants we encountered were friendly. The Terme Theia was ok, but the management inflexible when I tried to inform them of a booking error within 24hours of making it they did not reply to my emails, and when I spoke to the they said that once I paid there was no refund or changes. I prefer the Terme sensoriale, but unfortunately they are only open on weekends

The apartement was even nicer than pictures. There was oil and a bit of vinegar as well as salt and pepper. It would have been nice to have a few more amenities. The pool looked really nice but we did not have time to take advantage of it. Check in was easy even though we arrived very late at night. Same for the check out.

We loved the ease of walking through the narrow streets and alleys. There was good signage so it was easy to find our way around. The medieval buildings were fascinating, as was the medieval fountain just outside the city walls. What an amazing experience to visit this 12th century structure where residents once collected their water. The old churches and works of art were fascinating--and the gelato was so fresh and delicious! The little shops were beautiful too--wonderful to stroll through history like this!

This is a wonderful place to stay, enchanting.

This is a wonderful place to stay, enchanting. The people who own and run the castle are very hands on and seem to care very much about what they do - and how they welcome and treat their guests confirms this. Kacy, Anotonio and Martha were all very helpful and welcoming and made every effort to make sure that we were comfortable and had what we needed, including accommodating my dietary needs at the last minute. Our room was lovely too. This is a beautiful castle in a such lovely location. My most impressive memory is watching the sunset in the distance, over the village roof tops, from the castle’s terrace, with glass of wine in hand. Breathtaking. The castle offers dinner occasionally. We had dinner one night and it was very good. There are good places to eat in the village, within walking distance and also a local bar. The Castle offers an honesty bar. Our breakfasts were very good too. We had a lovely stay and would like to think we will return. It is heartening to see people caring so much about what they do and it shows in every aspect of the castle.

I have been to Tuscany more times than I can count. This is my first time stopping in and staying in Colle di Val d'Elsa. The location is very close to all the major sites in Tuscany. Volterra and San Gimignano are extremely closeby as well as Chianti. There is a charm to the old town area of Colle di Val d'Elsa, not a ton of tourists like the other sites in the area.

Fantastic little town with tonnes of restaurants and cafes to choose from. The museum ticket is great value as it gets you into lots of the historic sights. We enjoyed the weaponry exhibit as you were allowed to hold and try on the different artefacts which was cool! We parked nearby and paid with card on exit (only line up at the ticket machine if you’re paying cash). The onsite wine shop (connected to the popular winery near by) was delicious too. Would definitely recommend this town for people to visit and dine at!
