I fully recommend it if you go to Montecatini. Lovely hotel, friendly staff, room exceptionally clean and comfortable bed. Breakfast was delicious. It is 6 min walk from the main street, 5 min walk from the Terme Tettucio (a must see!) and a few more minutes to the funicular to enjoy the views.

Everything. Breakfast was so much better than the pictures showed. Nice pool we did not use and nice breakfast area. Rooms just as ordered. Connecting rooms. Extra bed was forgotten but they brought it even though it was after 10pm when we checked in. They made a mistake asking to pay the Bill but we already paid via booking and this was no problem to correct the Bill.

We are hikers and rock climbers, the location was good for climbing in nearby Monsummano, Several Via Ferattas are within an hour or two drive. The restaurants are many and most are quite good, especially in Montecatini Alto. For those who like to shop, the main plaza has a plethora of sores, including high end shops.

The location is great if you are traveling by car. There place is very relaxing and can travel by train to Florence and by car to Lucca, Citta di Vinci and other places nearby. Pistoia is a good place nearby to eat.

At 1400 m.a.s.l. the place is perfectly sited both for skiing and for walking/hiking. Unfortunately, they are far from good in advertising it. You have to find out by yourself the wonderful trails (there is a not advertised app), many going up to some 2000 m.a.s.l.

Monsummano is an interesting town with a history I do not feel I explored enough.There is a museum and a library that I would have liked to have visted, but I enjoyed walking around and drinking coffees here and there. Only one decent restaurant as far as I could find - the Sotto Grotta in the Piazza Giusta ... but I could cook for myself (once I found the sumpermarket) and all in all it has a lovely feel with pleasing architecture.

Pescia is a quaint little town with all the modern and traditional facilities. Close to the autostrada and with a train station it is also excellent for other trips to Lucca, Pisa, Florence and beyond. Quite apart from traditional churches, museums, galleries and theatres in Pescia there are also local villages and towns such as Monte Carlo and Monteterme to enjoy. There are plenty of supermarkets, bars, restaurants and trattoria to explore.

A good base if your a bit more adventurous and don't mind...

A good base if your a bit more adventurous and don't mind travelling by train. For example Pisa and Florence are both reachable by train but include changing trains at various places. Montecatini itself is a little run down in places with all the spa buildings closed. A nice little town square where a few bars can be found. Montecatini Alto is a gem reached by a funicular railway and Lucca (40 mins by train) is well worth a visit.

Pistoia is a small town, not Firenze or even the size of Lucca. However, it has amazing architecture and plenty to explore. There are many, many restaurant choices, it's clean, safe and appealing. It's so easy to drive in and walk to the center. Prices are low. We loved the ease of dining after a day of exploring. A GREAT stepping off point to Florence and Lucca by car or train.

We enjoyed are stay. We came for the Italian Junior Championships. The ski area looks amazing. We even drove by the famous Monte Cristo on our way here. The day lodge was friendly to racers and had amazing typical paninis and good coffee. oh and the tap water is very delicious.

Interesting historic town divided by the Fume Pescia. Lively market on Saturday morning and Locanda Sotto i Portici restaurant is highly recommended. Provides a good base for exploring N Tuscany, Lucca, Pisa and Florence all within an hour’s drive.
