Everything the easy access to property, the rooms, location, breakfast, the little touches like a aluminium water bottle gift to take and fill up. The rooms were spotless. We were catching the Bernina Express in the afternoon and we were able to pay for a late check out which was very helpful as outside was quite cold. Would highly recommended staying there

Staff were very welcoming and professional The location so close to the duomo but in a quiet street There was a bakery next door with excellent coffee and lunch and an Argentinian restaurant attached to the hotel for sinner which meant as a solo traveler I felt safe at night The breakfast was excellent and 15 euro which I thought good value The room was spotlessly clean and there was an opening door to the balcony with a table a chairs

The hotel and room were designed in a smart way that gets the most out of the available space. I found the place to be friendly and accommodating, even as a vegan (in Italy!!) they were trying to accommodate for my needs. The food was great (both dinner and the included breakfast). The room was small, but it had everything that I needed and still pretty specious (due to a clever design). The bathroom/shower was pretty big, and felt pretty new.

FAQs about hotels in Lombardy

Sophisticated and Serene

The diverse region of Lombardy touches the 3 largest Italian lakes: Lake Garda, Lake Maggiore and Lake Como. Their beautiful shores house many Lombardy luxury hotels and even more luxurious celebrity residences.

The rich and famous also flock to Milan, one of the world’s fashion capitals, where designer boutiques are found alongside La Scala opera house and the iconic San Siro football stadium. To the south, Pavia is best known for its elaborate monastery, while Monza to the north-east hosts the F1 Italian Grand Prix and World Superbike Championship.

Nearby Bergamo is the hub for cheap flights to Milan and it also has a historic old town, while to its east is peaceful Lake Iseo. A smaller lake is located by Varese, and artificial lakes also almost entirely surround the important medieval city of Mantua, seat of the Gonzaga court during the Renaissance.

Brescia to the north-west has monuments dating back to Roman times, while Cremona to the south-west has an impressive cross-shaped cathedral and huge belltower. This beautiful city is on the Po, Italy’s longest river which forms part of the Lombardy border.

This is a very beautiful city, still looks white (original) compared to other European countries. If you stay in the center, it's much easier to get to outer rings according to the liking. We walked everywhere in the radius up to 3km, i suggest walking over transport, you see more and also keep yourself fit. Boat tours are, ehhh, could be much better I think. Some museums need you to pre-order the tickets months ahead which is a bummer, if you just want to jump to Milan without planning, many places are no go for you; i.e. Leonardo's Last meal museum, no tickets to buy for the next 2 months at least. 2-3 days for the city I think is enough if you're all day, 20km~23km (~30k of steps) of walking and visiting per day. Use google Map to mark of the places you want to see and visit and just walk, every time choose a different route. I also jog each morning (5:30 / 6:00 am) and that allows me to see more places compared to my spouse and companions, I choose different place each time with a park in place to do more exercises and Milan has lots of them, so I can jog 3+km each direction and back at least.

There's so much to do in the area. we went summer skiing at the glacier (Stelvio), which was ok (lots of long lines for the button lifts because of the hundreds of ski club teams). But the nearby QC Terme Bagni Vecchi was amazing. Would like to have stayed longer for hiking and mountain biking. Very nice little town and beautfil surroundings.

We visited the first week of November so it was not overcrowded. Don’t think it would be good during the height of the travel season. That said, we were not aware that the ferries stopped running completely in November. So if you visit them and want to see other towns around the lake having a car would be helpful. But we made the best of it by visiting the thermal baths and spa in Sirmione instead.

Tirano is a small town which has everything, largely because of its location and the Religious tourism generated by the shrine and cult of Our Lady of Tirano. An excellent base to explore the area with frequent rail connections to Switzerland and Italy. Plenty of places to eat well and inexpensively.
