Amazing views to the mountains from the windows, beds were clean and comfortable, there was a bonus hot tub outside, which was very secluded. Tasty breakfast with a large selection. Options to rent bikes and helmets. Sheep outside, very friendly, had a lovely time petting them.

The accomodation is located in a farm, basically in the middle of nowhere, but it's totally worth taking the long journey in the Westfjords to get to this place. It has a very unique feeling, you are in the nature. I arrived very late, around midnight, but communication with the hotel staff and then self check in was very easy. After arrival I jumped into the hot pool (which is available 24/7), they have both outdoor and indoor pools (in an amazing palm house). Breakfast was divine with a lot of local produce, it's definitely worth the additional 2000 ISK that I had to pay for that. It's a place where I definitely have to return one day.

Probably the coziest hotel we have ever visited. As soon as we entered all our senses were positively affected(e.g very nice design, the smell of home made bread being baked for breakfast, nice soft music etc). Very comfortable bed and all details in the room were carefully thought with great taste. The stuff was extremely polite and helpful. The best breakfast we had in Iceland.

The parking by the fall is expensive at no reason.

The parking by the fall is expensive at no reason. It offers no services, like toilets. If the weather is ok and you like walking, there is a free spot closer to the city, 1mile or 1500m, with a trail to the fall. The fall and the mountain together in a pic are the postcard you imagined.

Borgarnes is a small town, very easy to walk around, but enough facilities for a short stay. There is a choice of cafes and restaurants. There is a swimming pool, but we didn't use it. It was a good location for us to hunt the Northern Lights. Only a short journey was needed to reach areas with dark skies. We were not disappointed.

I’ve stayed here before and always thought the location was magical—the nearby church feels otherworldly! The bar is cozy and a perfect spot for a coffee or a drink, and the restaurant serves a truly delicious dinner. When I stayed a few years ago, I felt the rooms were just okay for the price. But this time, I tried one of the newly renovated rooms, and it was beyond my expectations. The design, comfort, and overall feel completely changed my experience—I went from liking this hotel to absolutely loving it. I highly recommend booking one of the renovated rooms. They’re 100% worth it!

I would like to address several reviewers comments in general about the size of the bathrooms and showers. The bathrooms have been updated. the bathrooms are on the smaller side but so are most of the bathrooms in all the hotels I have stayed at in Iceland. We travel extensively and notice differences in all of the countries we have been to that are different from our own places and each place that you go. I think it is ok to mention this so other people are aware but to complain so much about it is not necessary. I would also like to mention how wonderful their water is! It can go from freezing cold to sauna hot in a matter of seconds and it is the only country that I prefer to dink from the tap! I hope this helps :)

Akranes is a pleasant community within east driving distance...

Akranes is a pleasant community within east driving distance to Reykjavik. Accommodations there are less expensive compared to the surrounding are but also are not as updated. There was one good sit-down restaurant in the town. The public swimming pool was nice and there a public geothermal baths on the beach there. When the fish factory opens, whole portions of the town stink of fish. If you are looking for more affordable accommodation for a one night stop, this town is a good option, but there is not much to see and do in the town itself.

Beautiful, remote yet friendly place. Remarkably helpful tourist centre and well maintained roads and buildings despite remoteness. You need a car to fully experience the place. I had an absolutely amazing stay at Hotel Langaholt — everything about it exceeded my expectations. From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly warm, friendly, and down to earth. They made me feel so welcome and even offered me a complimentary upgrade to a newer, more comfortable room. The room itself was spacious, spotlessly clean, and had the most breathtaking view of both the glaciers and the beach. The hotel has a lovely, charming atmosphere and is wonderfully peaceful, making it the perfect place to relax. Dinner was a real highlight — the seafood was freshly caught in the area and tasted incredible. Breakfast was just as impressive, with a great selection to start the day right. One of my favorite moments was being able to take a short walk down to the beach after dinner. It was the perfect way to unwind — surrounded by nature, with the sound of the waves and the open Icelandic landscape all around. What really stood out to me, though, was the kindness and flexibility of the staff. They even allowed me a late checkout so I didn’t have to rush in the morning. Every little detail was handled with such care, and the genuine hospitality made all the difference. I can’t recommend Hotel Langaholt enough. It’s a special place that captures the beauty and warmth of Iceland in every way. I will absolutely be back and I cannot recommend this hotel enough!
