The accomodations and establishment are very nice. The whole feeling of this place is very unique. It's not just a place where the views are amazing, but also a farm where you can see horses and also 2 very nice dogs. You have a hot sprint outside and inside. We've been in Iceland 3 times and here we ate the best food from all the places. This guesthouse is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. I will not be surprised if in the future people will visit the west fjords only to stay here. I can't recommend it enough. Thank you so much for having us. Wished we stayed longer!

This was one of our favourite locations, appearing oasis-like after the drive down from Isafjordur, crossing mountain plains and on gravel roads. It turns out we had booked the biggest room 28, right at the end of the long corridor. It was a super spacious room and we regretted not staying longer to enjoy this retreat. The bed was very comfortable and the location whisper quiet. The restaurant where meals were served was spacious and had lovely views over the water. And the music was just right! The staff were all very helpful and friendly, sharing their local knowledge. This was our base to visit the puffins at Latrabjarg after passing the golden sands at Örlygshöfn Beach. The hotel was conveniently located for a quick and easy run to Stykkisholmur and the ferry to the Snaefellsness Peninsular. It also had its own petrol bowser, air compressor for tyres and car washing station. We would definitely stay here again!

I had the privilege of staying at Hotel Djupavik, and it truly ranks among the most exceptional places I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. The breakfast was delightful, the warm welcome from the staff was even better, and the tour of the nearby fish oil factory was simply awe-inspiring. The atmosphere here makes you feel like a cherished friend rather than a mere guest. Absolutely fantastic!

The parking by the fall is expensive at no reason.

The parking by the fall is expensive at no reason. It offers no services, like toilets. If the weather is ok and you like walking, there is a free spot closer to the city, 1mile or 1500m, with a trail to the fall. The fall and the mountain together in a pic are the postcard you imagined.

Borgarnes is a small town, very easy to walk around, but enough facilities for a short stay. There is a choice of cafes and restaurants. There is a swimming pool, but we didn't use it. It was a good location for us to hunt the Northern Lights. Only a short journey was needed to reach areas with dark skies. We were not disappointed.

I’ve stayed here before and always thought the location was magical—the nearby church feels otherworldly! The bar is cozy and a perfect spot for a coffee or a drink, and the restaurant serves a truly delicious dinner. When I stayed a few years ago, I felt the rooms were just okay for the price. But this time, I tried one of the newly renovated rooms, and it was beyond my expectations. The design, comfort, and overall feel completely changed my experience—I went from liking this hotel to absolutely loving it. I highly recommend booking one of the renovated rooms. They’re 100% worth it!

I had an absolutely amazing stay at Hotel Langaholt — everything about it exceeded my expectations. From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly warm, friendly, and down to earth. They made me feel so welcome and even offered me a complimentary upgrade to a newer, more comfortable room. The room itself was spacious, spotlessly clean, and had the most breathtaking view of both the glaciers and the beach. The hotel has a lovely, charming atmosphere and is wonderfully peaceful, making it the perfect place to relax. Dinner was a real highlight — the seafood was freshly caught in the area and tasted incredible. Breakfast was just as impressive, with a great selection to start the day right. One of my favorite moments was being able to take a short walk down to the beach after dinner. It was the perfect way to unwind — surrounded by nature, with the sound of the waves and the open Icelandic landscape all around. What really stood out to me, though, was the kindness and flexibility of the staff. They even allowed me a late checkout so I didn’t have to rush in the morning. Every little detail was handled with such care, and the genuine hospitality made all the difference. I can’t recommend Hotel Langaholt enough. It’s a special place that captures the beauty and warmth of Iceland in every way. I will absolutely be back and I cannot recommend this hotel enough!

Akranes is a pleasant community within east driving distance...

Akranes is a pleasant community within east driving distance to Reykjavik. Accommodations there are less expensive compared to the surrounding are but also are not as updated. There was one good sit-down restaurant in the town. The public swimming pool was nice and there a public geothermal baths on the beach there. When the fish factory opens, whole portions of the town stink of fish. If you are looking for more affordable accommodation for a one night stop, this town is a good option, but there is not much to see and do in the town itself.

I would like to address several reviewers comments in general about the size of the bathrooms and showers. The bathrooms have been updated. the bathrooms are on the smaller side but so are most of the bathrooms in all the hotels I have stayed at in Iceland. We travel extensively and notice differences in all of the countries we have been to that are different from our own places and each place that you go. I think it is ok to mention this so other people are aware but to complain so much about it is not necessary. I would also like to mention how wonderful their water is! It can go from freezing cold to sauna hot in a matter of seconds and it is the only country that I prefer to dink from the tap! I hope this helps :)
