We wanted somewhere different to spend Christmas and came across Valhalla house online, the house was as amazing as it looks in the pictures and was right on the beach that you have to yourself! The house was clean & comfortable and had everything we needed - water, towels, cooking facilities etc! As the island was quite remote we were struggling to find how to get there and get around but Marcelo, the host, went above and beyond to help us out with flights and ferries. His communication was great, and he gave us some great food recommendations as well as a contact for surf lessons, which we all really enjoyed on Christmas day, and was just so helpful with all of the questions we had! Marcelo also put us in touch with a local, Dolman, who drove us to and from the airport, even though the roads were bad he made it so easy for us to get around by providing bikes at a really good price. Overall we had an amazing stay at Valhalla and would recommend it to anyone who wants a relaxing time on a paradise island, surrounded by local culture, beautiful beaches and lots surfing!!

Perfect location: right by a stunning beach, in the village so not too remote and not far from the harbour, yet quiet and relaxing. The room is nice and air conditioned with a comfortable bed, there’s a big terrace too. The lady who runs the place and her staff are exceptionally friendly, helpful and welcoming. They helped us with absolutely everything we needed and asked for.

We already stayed here twice and If you looking for clean, nice affordable Mentawai accommodation with very helpful staff, this is best place we could find around. So look no further! Fian and his family are amazing hosts! The beds are comfortable, linen very clean and smell nice (not too much of synthetic detergent and no damp smell, which is very common problems in many local guest houses). Food Suzy cook is very good also and you can request something to your liking as well! Just bring snacks if you coming for longer time and haven’t traveled in far away destinations of Indonesia as island does not have western food stores.

La Belle HT is such a gem — the kind of place you instantly feel at home. The location is unbeatable, right on the surf, with stunning views and the perfect laid-back vibe. We loved waking up to the sound of the ocean -pure magic. Iker is a fantastic host — so welcoming, kind, and always ready to help with anything you need. You can really feel the heart he’s put into this place. The on-site bar and restaurant were also a huge plus! The meals were delicious, with a great variety to choose from — perfect after a day in the sun or out surfing. We found ourselves looking forward to the food just as much as the waves! All in all, an amazing stay. We’re already dreaming of our next visit. If you’re looking for a beautiful surf escape with great food and even better vibes — this is it. 🙏🏼 🤍🤙🏼
