The staff were so welcoming, always had a smile and willing to help if we needed it. the breakfast as simply amazing, I've stayed in a lot of hotel but the food here was just great, awesome choices. Two staff members stood out to me, Jimmy and Ardita, very kind and helpful. Myself and my partner will 100% be back to stay.

We were pleased to stay in ParkRoyal. Everything was excellent. From really great staff, cleanliness, variety of breakfast options to a spectacular view from our room. There is also a rooftop swimming pool and a gym (which we did not use). We really appreciated the complimentary bottles of water that were regularly supplied. Shopping mall (exchange office, ATMs and many restaurants) is in the vicinity.

Mount Merapi (you can take a jeep to the summit, but I didn't), Borobudur, and Prambanan Temple are worth a visit, although the entrance fee is quite high for Asia. Maliobor Street is a must-see. Kotagede with its narrow streets, as well as the water castle and the Sultan's Palace, should be on your to-do list. Tebing Breksi might be nice in the dark, but otherwise skip it. I skipped the sights that required a drive of over 1.5 hours (Hutan Pinus Pengger, Jomblang Cave, Timang Beach, Watu Giring). The roads in Indonesia aren't that good. The Central Air Force Museum Dirgantara Mandala required an invitation, which, of course, I didn't have. Strange.

My last visit to Surabaya was about 10 years ago.

My last visit to Surabaya was about 10 years ago. The city had transformed to be nicer and cleaner. Shopping malls were excellent now, cleaner. Keep it up. Surprisingly bluebird taxis were still available, but driver's honesty was questionable at times (meter rates).

The airport at Jakarta (like the other airports in Indonesia) has very limited choices for food. It seems they think all travelers want coffee and pastries. We did eat at a sit down restaurant with super oily food that was way below average and high priced (for Indonesia).

Everything is perfect but only one thing that I have really uncomfortable. That is internet connection !!!!! I can not fully watch YouTube or Netflix bt my laptop. Wifi signal continously has drorpped so it is very difficult to watch any streaming. Even I have to access to my company web for working. Something is happened. I can not work because very low level of internet connection and internet speed. I didn't have any internet issue when I was in Jakarta and Borgor during similar times (I was in jakarta and borgor one week ago) If you have to do something with internet, I can not recommend this hotel. It is very very terribles

A nice city with outdoors options for entertainment. A magnificent botanical garden. eating, shopping and facilities, gyms and wellness centers. Nice wide roads with lovely architecture and vegetation. Close by the volcanos and thee plantations ideal for day trips.

Authentic introduction to a broad Javanese experience from traditional markets to modern shopping malls. Ancient palaces , streets packed with carts and traders , a look into the past. Very safe with smiles and welcomes everywhere . Truly lovely people , helpful and kind, anyone we came into contact with, staff, shop keepers, drivers - whatever - were overwhelmingly polite and caring with manners and curtesy . Plenty to see in the area. A day trip to Prambanan a pleasant 90 minutes through interesting landscape.

Malang was definitely an amazing experience. we walked downtown and visited the heritage village, what an amazing place!! we also went to this beautiful restaurant called ( SaigonSan ) which looks like a temple form the inside . the food is really good and unexpectedly affordable. and of course would recommend the Bromo, Ejin and Tumpak sewu tours . otally worth it especially the waterfalls

ijen is pretty much overrated, it's a nice 6-hour-ish hike with above medium difficulty, the flame is underwhelming which is slightly bigger than a camp fire and the crater? go to Bromo instead. With the current volcano incident related to the Brazilian tourist, I am more convinced that people should be aware of tour guide's quality and training in East Java. Upon reading some brief information about traveling to Ijen, I found to mandatory in getting a guide, I went there alone and caught weird looks from other guides, some avoided my interactions when they found out I was alone, some others was good and paying attention.
