We stayed 7 nights at Terra Cottages. Overall fabulous experience! Friendly, well trained staff in hospitality. The proximity to most beautiful beach is fabulous. Nice choice of different restaurants close by, which offer all types of cuisine, Italian, French/Asian etc.. It is a 10 to 15 minute pleasant walk to the different restaurants. Great to have a scooter to explore the different beaches. They offer scooters on the premises. I would say this is the more unspoilt part of Bali, with so many beautiful beaches. Terra Cottages has steps which go down to the beach. It is a bit of a walk, however nothing that most people can't do. In fact, I loved the little bit of exercise, walking to the beach and back to Terra Cottages. Nice restaurant on the beach, called Kelly's Warung. Fabulous to sit elevated overlooking the ocean. Loved the casual but luxurious feel of Terra Cottages. Breakfast was amazing with different options. Excellent coffee! The restaurant area is beautifully done. They serve coffee and juices all day. The wifi is good. You just need to switch when moving around to restaurant etc The entire property from outdoor toilet, shower to the walkways are spotless. True Island style accommodation with true home comforts of lovely clean white linen, towels and very comfortable bed. I liked the fact that you did not feel like you in a Hotel which does not blend in with the environment. The gardens are beautifully maintained. It was delight sitting at the pool area in the beautiful garden setting. At the end of the road there is a place which does a lovely facial and massage. Simple, clean and professional. Anna and Maria were friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much bother. I would highly recommend Terra Cottages for a relaxing true Bali experience.

We are checking out today and will really love to come back again. Everything and everyone is so good. I only get the name of Bella at reception. She was super attentive and helped arrange breakfast for us to pick up at 2am to go to Mount Batur, what an extra mile, I was surprised and so pleased. Service was so good, breakfast was awesome, cleanliness is good. Kids enjoyed kids club with professional attentive teachers as well. Only thing is that pool a bit dirty with bugs inside. Other than that, I'm just feeling sad to leave. Will return again. I feel easy and relax with a resort that is not calculative.. everyone is helpful. The shuttle to the beach was helpful as well. Keep it up Renaissance Nusa Dua!!

FAQs about hotels in Bali

An Island Dream

The dream destination of Bali is where volcanic landscape meets lush rice terraces and pristine beaches. Not to mention the fantastic surfing, cheap shopping and pervading spirituality that have made this Indonesian island a long-time favourite for backpackers.

The island’s capital is Denpasar in the south, but its surf and party capital is nearby Kuta. Swaying palm trees line the beach here and many more cover the grounds of the Bali hotels on the beach in more exclusive Seminyak to the north.

On the island’s north coast, Pemuteran beach offers lovely views of the sloping mountains heading towards the Bali Sea. Many beaches on this coast are black sand, including sweeping Lovina beach from where dolphins can often be seen. Tulamben in the east is one of the better diving resorts in Bali, while Sanur is a popular option for families.

Ubud is the island’s cultural capital and houses a monkey sanctuary in its jungle-like landscape. An ancient Hindu temple is found here, but the best-known temple is Tanah Lot, surrounded by water. There are also hundreds of fantastic spas in Bali, as well as meditation and yoga classes that you can join.

Whether you choose to stay inland or by the beautiful coastline, Booking.com has a great range of villas, guest houses and hotels in Bali.

Absolutely Exceptional Stay From the moment we arrived, everything about this hotel exceeded our expectations. The staff were incredibly welcoming, kind, and attentive always smiling and ready to help with anything we needed. Every interaction felt personal and genuine, making us feel truly cared for. The service was flawless from the front desk to housekeeping, room service, and even the spa team, everyone was professional yet warm. The rooms were spotless and beautifully maintained, and every detail was thoughtfully taken care of. What stood out the most was the hospitality. The team went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, often anticipating our needs before we even asked. Whether it was arranging transport, customizing meals, or simply checking in on how we were enjoying our stay they made us feel like VIPs. It was truly one of the best hotel experiences we've ever had. We’re already planning our return. Highly, highly recommended!

The location is one of a kind. You get a beachfront room view which is exceptional for the money. It is also secluded, but every morning with the low tide you can take a walk to Padang Padang beach. The breakfast was great, the room was clean, the staff was great and you can do yoga on the beach in the morning & afternoon, or try surf lessons provided by the hotel. They also offer massages and you can sit by the ocean right next to your hotel and it’s not busy at all. The water is clear and you can get some shade in between the rocks. The staff also offered to carry your luggage which helped a lot as you have a lot of stairs going down the cliff. You shouldn’t miss this place if you come to Uluwatu.

We were a bit worried about coming to bali in the rain season but so far, there was no need for that, The occasional shower is absolutely okay, there is plenty of sun left and the temperatures are gorgeous In Ubud, but less up in the mountains. The low season makes the town a bit more quiet but the traffic is still close to crazy, I can't imagine what that looks like when there's a million more tourists...

Kuta is very busy, traffic is hectic, but there is plenty to see and do. Shopping is good, with plenty of bargains and hotels are very good. It was easy to get a taxi to travel around and we found the best driver, BAGUS, who took us on a 12 hour day tour of middle Bali (Ubud and surrounds) for only $50 AUD.

I love Canggu, its vibrant energy and its uplifting.

I love Canggu, its vibrant energy and its uplifting. Sure it gets crowded on the roads during peak time (anytime from about 3pm - 6pm), but it's beautiful. There are many shops, cafes, restaurants and developments now. It has really become an active area for tourists and local residents living there. I love seeing all the businesses pop up, the gyms, the demographic of people there are friendly, fit and happy. There are still terraces of rice fields too which you will see. Most of the roads have now been paved or sealed which is amazing. Try the cafes, the bakeries, the collaborative work spaces and of course try the gyms and the padel courts. Love echo beach - try the local warung eateries while you are there. I recommend La Baruna. Try to get out to the markets if you can. Also easy shopping for groceries at local markets or the pepitos or festive supermarkets.

Great place.

Great place. Lots of excellent restaurants and beautiful beaches nearby. My favourite was Nyang Nyang Beach which is easy to reach. It's a sandy beach with great waves for surfing. Swimming is a bit more tricky as the bottom is rocky and the currents can be a bit challenging. There is a bar for refreshment and the beach is spacious and doesn't feel crowded. Uluwatu attracts lots of surfers and that's a bit the vibe that you get here.

Nusa Penida is a wild island, there are stunning views and beaches. It is not easy to wonder around. Roads are bad and it is not the best if you are not an expert with the scouter, in that case you will need to use the local drivers. I suggest Crystal Bay, and Klingking Beach (for sure). If you got to do the snorkeling with the Manta Rays go early, later it is really crowded. Consider that it takes long time to go in the main point of interests.

Jungutbatu is not like the rest of the island which is quite traditional which we like. Jungutbatu has many international restaurants and upmarket boutique type shops. There are few places where you can get the opportunity to swim with manta rays. Everything costs little more than in Bali as everything has to be brought in from Bali, but still good value for money. D'Stars ferry was excellent.
