It goes without saying that the hotel, view, interior and surroundings were gorgeous. What really surprised me it that this hotel is really committed to reducing plastic waste. The three days we spent here were completely plastic-free. The very high-end bathroom cosmetic was in aluminium tubes. There were no plastic bags inside the bins. The water bottles (replaced daily) were glass etc. Honestly, I loved it!

FAQs about hotels in Istria

Land of History, Sun and Wine

The land of stony beaches, sapphire seas and rocky mountains, Istria is the largest peninsula of the Adriatic Sea. It’s a popular tourist destination famous for its cuisine, weather and wine.

Istria has been a part of many powerful empires: the Byzantine, Roman, Venetian, Austro-Hungarian and more recently, Yugoslavian. Each of them has left an easily recognisable mark on the architecture, giving you an opportunity for a crash course in the region’s fascinating past just by travelling around.

The Brijuni Islands are a must-see for that reason. They were once President Tito’s private property with a large zoo, over 200 dinosaur footprints and a never-ending stream of international guests, including heads of state and Hollywood film stars.

Located near the Brijuni is the largest city of the Istria region, Pula, best-known for the beautiful Roman architecture and tranquil countryside surrounding it, as well as for its winemaking and fishing traditions.

Whether you’re visiting Pula or other towns like Pazin, Porec or Opatija, make sure to visit local restaurants and try Italian-influenced dishes with famous Istrian peppers, truffles and seafood. Finish your meal with grappa or a glass of sweet wine - the best comes from the Kalavojna region.

Istria is a diverse region and Booking.com offers equally diverse properties. From boutique hotels to comfortable apartments, you have a range of nearly 600 properties to choose from.

This resort was absolutely fantastic, with an incredible level of cleanliness and maintenance. The lawns and sidewalks were well-kept, and the beach was spotless, with no litter in sight. The apartment itself was well-maintained and regularly cleaned, and the functioning air conditioning added to the comfort of the stay. The presence of a coffee machine and an electric stove made it convenient to prepare meals in the apartment. The resort's amenities were perfect for families, with a pool that included entertaining activities and slides for the children. The beach, although pebbly, provided a nice escape from the heat thanks to the abundance of trees offering shade. It was also conveniently close to the apartment, just around 200 meters away. The dining experience at the resort was outstanding, with a wide variety of delicious treats available. Despite the large number of guests, the food was plentiful, and the staff managed the queues efficiently. The service provided by the staff was both friendly and professional, adding to the overall positive experience. In conclusion, this resort is a superb destination for a vacation, offering exceptional cleanliness, great amenities, and delectable dining options. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone seeking a fantastic and enjoyable getaway.

🥰💖We booked quickly and arrived at this hotel for the first time, and it was a wonderful discovery: beautiful hotel, immersed in a fabulous natural environment, facing the sea, with a wonderful swimming pool and charming lounge bar from which to admire enchanting sunrises and sunsets . Upon arrival there is a welcoming reception with truly friendly, knowledgeable, multilingual staff willing to provide information. In all the rooms of the hotel there is an enveloping and sweet fragrance, which makes the holiday atmosphere even more beautiful. The Spa is dreamlike, with various saunas. The Finnish sauna has a breathtaking view: 100% highly recommended🤩😉🥳. Dinner is incredibly plentiful and varied, with excellent chefs and very attentive and thoughtful dining room staff. The breakfast is gorgeous. Our cocker spaniel 🐶was also with us; the hotel is Pet friendly, with a much appreciated Welcome Dog: 1 soft and scented dog bed, 1 blanket, 1 toy, 1 tasty dog biscuit. On the day of departure, the hotel gave us a late check out, which we appreciated very much because our stay was for a special occasion. 💖Thank you all💖 for contributing to our dream stay. The first thing we did when we returned home was organize our next stay at the Hotel Aminess Maestral. Elisabetta, Lucièn, & Richard-Dog🐶

Stayed in camping villas prestige - they are modern, looking very new and have pretty much everything you need. Beautiful terraces to enjoy cricket sounds in summer evenings. Also, the surroundings are beautiful - nature, forest, beaches, as well as very good facilities (pools, welness centre, playgrounds, supermarket etc.). The whole camping area is so well integrated into the nature and respecting the nature instead of just cutting down the whole forest and building something ugly made of pure concrete, which we loved. Many different birds, and we even saw hedgehogs and rabbits - the children were so excited. The main restaurant was very good and prices are reasonable. The beach bar as well. The staff are generally very polite and helpful across the different facilities. We would definitely come back.

The town was perfect size so walking is easy for everyone. Please note the cobbled streets can be a little slippery so fancy high heeled shoes are a No-No! The local people are kind and friendly and everyone is catered for. Little tip:- book restaurants early to avoid disappointment not obtaining a reservation.

Post season Umag seems like a cozy small town. I expected more but then maybe my expectations were set too high considering its a popular destination for locals. Although I only stayed there for one night, I can't provide a comprehensive report but we did manage to walk around the city and resort complex. The location seems ideal for an activities holiday destination with a lot of parks and paths for walking/hiking, bike riding, etc.
