Everything was 10 out of 10. Hotel is very nice, stylish and brand new. It has a fantastic indoor and outdoor pool, with good facilities to the beach too. I would like to highlight the service from all the staff, in particular the girls from Breakfast and reception! Definitely make your stay a 5 stars level! I will come back to the island and in particular to this hotel. I’ll become quite loyal to the brand, thank you for the great experience! btw, the quality of breakfast is exceptional! everything you imagine you have it!

Very clean, calm and nice hotel. Super staff, very helpfull and good sense of humour and they prepared delicious breakfast. The location is perfect, near of the city center but far away enough for not to get noices of the bars and restaurants. It was my first visit in Crete and the hotel was the best choice for our stay.

The staff is outstanding - they even reached out to the Municipal Swimming Center to check conditions to go for a training there. This extra effort impressed us and we decided to go back to the hotel early next year. we appreciated the wonderful breakfast and that the unheated hotel pool was still open and clean in December.

Centuries of History, Days of Sunshine

The largest Greek island, mountainous Crete has stunning beaches, plenty of history and as much or little nightlife as you want. Party town Malia has many bars, clubs and restaurants on its Strip.

Along the coast is the capital Heraklion, a bustling city home to many Crete hotels on the beach, and a Venetian castle guarding its port. Its archaeological museum includes finds from the island’s Minoan era, while just inland are the Roman remains of Knossos.

Also boasting a Venetian castle is Rethymnon, a popular resort with a good number of Crete hotels with private pools on Booking.com. Loggerhead turtles nest in season on the sandy beaches here and at Chania, an important port with an attractive waterfront set against the backdrop of mountains.

On the other side of the island is Aghios Nikolaos, a small fishing town with a picturesque harbour. Just north is Elounda, a popular family resort, and offshore is Spinaloga island, inspiration behind the book ‘The Island’. Matala in the south has a bohemian vibe and intriguing cliff dwellings, while Paleokastro in the east borders Europe’s largest palm forest at Vai.

We could go on and on about magnificent Crete beaches, but whichever resort you choose, you can be almost guaranteed fantastic food and a good helping of sunshine.

We booked Knossos beach resort based on reviews, photos and the amazing packaged it offered. It exceeded all our expectations!! From the moment we arrived, we were offered a complimentary room upgrade along with our beach cabana. The staff couldn't do enough to make sure we were well looked after! We arrived early, early check in was not a problem. We well full inclusive for the entire stay (3 nights) and we didn't spend a penny!! Everything is included; amazing buffets for breakfast, lunch and dinner at a very high quality, new food every day, always so fresh with great attention to detail, all our our snacks and drinks by the beach delivered right to our beach cabana were also included (cocktails, beer, food etc). We had wonderful massages in the spa area, we chose to eat in one of the restaurants (not included) for a special meal, you are given a discount and the food was incredible and very reasonably priced!! On our last day, our flight wasn't until 10pm, the hotel allowed us to stay until 6pm with an extra charge of €30, and we kept our all inclusive bands and cabana all day. Honestly, this place was truly so special, amazing sandy beaches, pure clean water, no noise, so quiet, no loud music, tranquil, clean, friendly and the most amazing greek food!! We will be back, it was one of the most relaxing stays I've ever had. Huge than you to Harris who went above and beyond to look after us!! The lovely waitress, Maria waitress, Dimitris beach bar manager, and wonderful massages from Evalina Spa. To the chef, we particularly enjoyed our buffet lunches! Our stay exceeded our expections by far! Comunication with the hotel was very easy and comfortable over the booking chat option and they really tried their very best to help with all our questions! Then the hotel/grounds/garden and the beach were very beautiful and very well kept. We couldn't get enough of the views! Even tough we had a garden view room we had an amaizing view of the mountains, the garden AND the sea which we enjoyed immenesly! One of the best things though was the friendliness and hospitality of the staff!! Everyone was so nice and courteous, we felt like VIPs all stay long! Special compliments to Giannis and Ioanna from the reception, they were the sweetest people we have met in a long time! We really enjoyed our conversations and they made our stay extra special! We also grew fond of Vivi from the beach bar, she was always enthusiastic and sunny and made the best cocktails! The entertainment all day was excellent as well! There were many options you could choose from and we enjoyed participating. :) All in all we can really recommend staying at Meli Palace to relax! We loved the Food/Snacks/drinks in the All-inclusive package and already miss it!

I stayed here for two nights but I wish it had been a week! One of the best resorts I have been to in the world! Not just because of how beautiful and clean the resort is, but also how incredible the service is! I was here for my honeymoon but we decided to take my daughter with us, the hotel caters to all needs. They have a beautiful play area which is safe and fun for children, we were able to leave my daughter and have some alone time. But we also were able to enjoy a lot of activities with my daughter on site! I could write a very long review because I was impressed! The room was spacious and beautiful (we got upgraded for free)! They have lots of amazing restaurants on site! Every single person who works at Stella Aqua Park is incredible! But a special thanks to Anna-Maria who made sure we had a wonderful stay! Like I said I have write all day but I will just end by saying this place is 10/10! Again thank you so much Ana-Maria for everything.

Everything was great!! We really enjoyed our holiday here, this hotel is an absolute gem! The staff was really friendly and helpful, the breakfast was delicious and versatile- every morning they put different traditional food both sweet and salty, and no matter what time you arrived to eat everything was always refilled. We had dinner in the hotel’s restaurant as well, the quality of the food was superb, so don’t miss it to trying it out.The beach was beautiful, calm and comfortable, perfect for a relaxing vacation! Location is well connected with Chania, the local bus line is really close to the hotel, less than 5 min walk. Rooms were cleaned every day deeply, and the bed was also very comfortable. Absolutely worth it!! We will definitely return here! :)

The hotel is located a 15-minute drive from the airport. It takes 10 minutes by car to the city centre, or the hotel offers free transfer to the centre of Chania and back to the hotel. The hotel is located in an elevated place where a beautiful view of the city can be seen; there is coolness and silence than in the city centre. The room was clean. The territory of the hotel is very beautiful and well-kept. There is a very nice pool. The staff was very helpful and polite. The breakfast was great, but after being there for 7 days, the repetitive food got a bit boring. Additionally, if you're tall and a bit overweight, you might find the lack of space in the shower - it was quite narrow. Overall, it was a good experience and I would recommend it to others.

First I have to say I am not a resort type of person. I came for the end of school of my 15 year old son and becouse of him. He said 5/5 specially becouse of outdoor training with a fitness master and table tennis lessons and other amneties and food and room and pool and beach and hotel :) I can personally add in short.. everything here is very nice... but staff.... staff is really exceptional. On all levels. Very very kind. One of a kind experience. Uff yes, and food as well. For sure I will come back and I will reccomend Grecotel to my friend as well.

We booked this while we were already in Crete and didn`t checked a lot befor booking. When we arrived we were absolutely amazed! The hotel is located in an amazing spot, great views, beach, pools, restaurant and rooms. We were upgraded to a suite and it was awesome, everything clean, the staff was always nice and helpful. All inclusive is definitely worth it, we even decided to stay more days after our first booking. Definitely the place you want to stay in Crete.

Beautiful, safe town with many local attractions, beautiful historic churches and Venetian port to explore, Central town bustling with cafes, shops and people walking up and down enjoying the sights and sounds of Heraklion. Superb weather September - October. Good value food. Excellent bus service to take buses to other parts of Crete

The old town is worth visiting especially during low season, when there is more space and tourists are not jostling for restaurant tables and selfie spots. There are several good restaurants in the old Venetian port, look for places where locals are eating.

We were sadly only here for a quick overnight stay.

We were sadly only here for a quick overnight stay. But during our week in Crete - where we travelled to Chania, Heraklion, and Rethymno - Rethymno was by some margin my favourite destination. Where Chania's historic centre felt as if it had been totally given over to tourism, Rethymno felt more like a substantial town with plenty to explore.

Difficult to judge because we came early in the season when there was a cold wind blowing and not all the places were open. However, there didn't seem to be many places to eat [not a problem for us as there was one excellent place, though would be a problem peak season] . There were a number of apparently abandoned and ill-maintained buildings, which made the place appear less attractive.

It was about a ten minutes walk uphill part way to Koutouloufari, loads of restaurants and bars, a fabulous experience. Walk a little further and you come to Piscopiano, also excellent. Walk down the hill and you come to restaurants with Greek dancing and plate smashing, also excellent.

Visited at the beginning of October and a lot of places beginning to close for the season. Town quiet but pleasant. Unfortunately the ferry to Agios Nikolaos does not run anymore so it’s a long drive if you want to visit

The perfect place for peaceful vacation.

The perfect place for peaceful vacation. The city itself is nice but not something extraordinary, but you get the best food in Greece alongside the best beaches in the World! Try Psarropoula, Kakkos and all other beaches in Ferma area. Make beautiful trips to Chryssi Island or Agios Nikolaos (30min), Siteia (45min), Vai, Oropedio Lasithiou etc.

For those who want a quiet get-away and yet close shopping, Kissamos is hard to beat. Close to the port for Balos-Gramvousa excursions and secluded for a wonderful relaxed time with your loved one. Gramvousa Restaurant is a must, a short drive to a memorable dining experience. Loved snorkeling and fish sightings around rocky areas. Pictures cannot capture the panoramic breath-taking setting.
