The hotel is in a very good location, near the beach and the promenade, with a building rich in history. The architecture and history are beautiful. It used to be luxurious, and that's still noticeable. Our room was on the 5th floor. Comfortable bed, renovated bathroom, dry, and clean. I especially want to mention the staff. My son got sick with a high fever, and we needed a late checkout at 5 p.m. They accommodated us without charging for an extra night and allowed us to stay for a very symbolic additional fee. We definitely want to come back.

So much to do in Sheffield. Lots to discover.

So much to do in Sheffield. Lots to discover. We love the canal, Kelham Island, the Botanical Gardens and of course, The Park Hill Estate for fans of Brutalist architecture. Also, if the stars align, you might catch some wicked music as Sheffield has such a wealth of stars heralding from its environs and often produces great new music.

The city centre itself is architecturally impressive, lots of lovely Victorian buildings and the streets have had a makeover due to the Bradford 2025 status. The Alhambra and Bradford Live venues are impressive and there seems lots to do and see. A few nice restaurants too. However, the city can feel a little intimidating at times, gangs of young men and kids and lots of homeless, particularly if you venture outside of the immediate city centre. The Broadwalk shopping centre is clean and modern, but other areas of the city centre and run down and very tired, with lots of empty shops. More phone and vape shops than anywhere else I've been in the UK for some reason. Beware also of the standard of driving in the city, as speed limits, traffic lights and indicators are frequently ignored, so always check twice before crossing the road!

Scarborough is ok but people should keep away from the Grand hotel it’s a dingy disgusting hotel rooms were dated along with the decor . The staff didn’t care much after I made a complaint about the freezing room and the water only tricked out and took a few minutes to warm up the room was small and the window looked onto a wall with muck along the frames.the staff didn’t care and said to us the water has to get to the 6th floor so might take a while to get there and be warm beds very uncomfortable and the hotel is very dated and needs to be brought into the 21 st century

Doncaster town is very depressing.

Doncaster town is very depressing. Big shops moved out and lots of shops closed entirely. Such a shame. We lived here for eleven years and moved with work but come back frequently to see friends. From the bank HSBC up Hallgate to the top is a very sad sight. Money needs investing to make it lovely again.
