The location was amazing, with great views, walks, and surroundings. The room itself was clean, well-appointed, and cozy. Correspondence with the owners was prompt, professional, and polite. There are a lot of rules, as others have pointed out, but that is why the property is so well kept. If anything is amiss, do let the owners know, as we found that solutions can be found immediately.

During our two-day stay, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast and evening dinner while receiving excellent service from the staff. It was also nice to know that the hotel is dog-friendly, despite not bringing our own as we were flying in from Ireland.

Our room was perfect. Beautiful sea views. A large, well-equipped room with a large double bed, and finally, from our travels, a TV large enough for the room size. There was a fridge for cold drinks and snacks. We needed to do some work, and the desk and chair were just right to work in peace and comfort. The en-suite was fitted with quality fittings and had a large walk-in shower, featuring both a rain overhead shower and a hand-held, smaller shower. The shower gel, shampoo, and soaps are of top quality, all complemented by the large, fluffy towels for a perfect guest experience. There were a few parking spaces behind the hotel, and plenty of free, quiet street parking was also available. As we entered through the main door, our key and room instructions were waiting on the table for us. The guest welcome letter explained in greater detail where to find breakfast the next day, including days and times, as well as local options. We noticed that we didn't have a spoon for our tea from the tea and coffee facilities available. We contacted Richard, the owner, via the mobile number supplied, and he appeared with a big smile and welcome in ten minutes and two spoons. The hotel is warm, welcoming, super clean, and superbly furnished. We loved listening to the sound of the sea at night. If you enjoy walking or running, the England Coastal Path is just outside the hotel, accessible via a nearby path. In the morning, we went to Mawson's ice cream parlour, which also serves breakfast at the beach. The whole vibe of the area and the friendliness of the locals were lovely, making for an enjoyable weekend.

I feel it is a good place to stay with like minded travellers whom I feel you could easily chat with. Good food and excellent drinks at the micro brewery. I had the beef brisket burger and cider, very good and a good breakfast in the morning. The area of Wasdale of course is famous for the great fell walking in the area. There are also campsites around and Waswater where you can admire the views, walk around if your game or bring a paddle board or kayak along.

This is a great base for hiking the Western fells.

This is a great base for hiking the Western fells. We were lucky with the weather but the views around here are beautiful. We ate at the Strands hotel. There is a good choice of meals and the portions are generous. Lovely food.

Nether Wasdale was chosen because it was central to walking...

Nether Wasdale was chosen because it was central to walking areas. Easy access to Wasdale head. The cafe at the sawmill was very good, it also had a shop. The area is remote so not at all touristy. We stayed at the Strands Inn which has a microbrewery, the beer is excellent. The evening meals were good. Its a long way from our home in Manchester to the west of Cumbria but worth the journey.
