Absolutely stunning building and location, the swing in the gardens was a really nice touch too. The most comfortable bed we've ever slept in and the room itself was beautiful. We could've sat in the bath overlooking the gardens all night. The decor throughout the hotel was breathtaking, so classy but cosy. We spent the evening in the bar playing chess and couldn't help from admiring every attention to detail that had been made. So many beautiful plants everywhere as well. Definitely our new favourite place for a little break, we didn't want to leave! 100% we will be back.

Staff is perfect. The staff at the hotel was perfect. We arrived at 9 pm on Christmas Day (December 25th!), and they asked whether we were on a long trip and if we needed something to eat. We were fine, but as you know, on this day, it is nearly impossible to eat outside. So, this is quite an important question. Thanks to the staff for looking after their guests.

FAQs about hotels in Wales

Land of the Hills and the Dales

A land of magnificent mountains, centuries-old castles and beautiful beaches, Wales is steeped in proud tradition. A centre of culture, its elegant capital Cardiff houses some of the 5-star hotels in Wales on Booking.com.

Swansea has several Wales hotels with swimming pools and is the gateway to the tranquil Gower Peninsula. It was also the birthplace of Dylan Thomas, whose famous boathouse is in Laugharne near the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.

Within this park are St Davids, the UK’s smallest city, and the colourful South Wales beach resort of Tenby. Other beach resorts include the university town of Aberystwyth, Barmouth and Prestatyn with its Blue-Flag beach. Popular Llandudno has a long pier sheltered by a headland.

Also with a pier is Bangor, opposite Anglesey - a rugged island known for wildlife. It looks back towards Snowdonia National Park, whose changing landscapes encompass Wales’ tallest mountain. Within the park are serene Bala Lake and Betws-y-Coed whose fast-flowing river becomes the Swallow Falls.

The Brecon Beacons house more lush peaks, while Chepstow to the south-east has a racecourse and riverfront Norman castle. Other fantastic Wales castles are in Conwy, Harlech and Caernarfon – possibly the best of them all.

Wrexham is the largest North Wales town with great nightlife, while nearby Llangollen is best known as for its International Eisteddfod.

Strategically located hotel - a short walk from the train station to Snowdon, as well as a short walk from the bus station. Very nice, helpful and helpful staff - we arrived on foot completely soaked and they immediately found us a drying room and recommended how to set the heating so that we could dry out as quickly as possible. The room was very well equipped and by British, sorry - Welsh standards also very spacious. Everything worked perfectly with a star. The snacks in the bar were delicious, and the draft beers had a kick! The breakfast buffet was equally excellent and you can eat until you burst. They allowed us to check out later and for free - a gale was raging outside.

Lovely location the rooms were very clean and comfortable and the hotel had a welcoming atmosphere. The staff were exceptional, very friendly and helpful on numerous occasions . One young lady on reception went above and beyond to help my 9 year old daughter with anything we needed , I wish I knew her name!! I am gluten intolerant and staff were very happy to accommodate my allergies and made sure I had a safe breakfast. We have just booked in for another short break and I’ve only been home a week !! Thank you staff at the Grand hotel for such a lovely stay and see you tomorrow!!

Its location to the waterfront. Being able to upgrade to a room with a sea view was great although the window was very small and we could only see a little. Cardiff is a small and friendly city, and the Grangetown area has a number of parks ideal for dog owners. Our visit was over Christmas, so we spent most of our time with family and friends, rather than sight seeing. The Castle is impressive, only about 30 mins. walk from the property( not all the buses were working over the holiday period). We were lucky to have very sunny weather, although it was very cold at times! We went to Heaney's restaurant for a celebratory meal on Christmas Eve , and had their tasting menu which was delicious and definitely 5 star! There are plenty of cheaper cafes and restaurants in Cardiff, covering all cuisines, from fish and chips to Thai and Vietnamese.

A lovely, atmospheric seaside town packed full of great attractions with a spectacular pier. The Great Orme, ski lift, fabulous historic tram and many splendid views to the mountains as a backdrop. Excellent retail parks and and a very picturesque shopping main street , but perhaps the highlight is the wonderful picturesque sweep of the bay with its brightly coloured hotels and houses sweeping around the bay. Well served by bus and train and good road access to the beautiful surrounding countryside that is North Wales.

The town is lovely and quaint not quiet with people but not too busy either, all of the locals we spoke to were very polite and very interested in tourists We went in and around Llangollen as there is a lot of amazing sites that cant be completed in one day, weather can be a factor, but was luckily on our side. The wild pheasant spa was lovely after climbing the waterfall at Pistyll Rhaeadr, from there we booked the stay at Cambrian house which was such a welcoming b&b. We travelled a little further out to Trevor to eat which wasnt too far but we wanted to head towards a supermarket on route we ate at a homely pub/restaurant with harty food called the "The Sun Trevor".
