Rooms: modern furnitures, beautiful design, big windows with fabulous river views, dark and light curtains, the AC control system, the showers, beds were comfortable. The location of the hotel on the river bank, near many bridges and near the city centre.

A pleasant, comfortable hotel with an excellent location. The staff and management are super friendly and on the guest side. They solved my problem caused by Air France and did not charge anything extra. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The best English breakfast ever. This doesn't feel at all like a motel - it's a proper, very nice hotel. The staff were very nice to me, the room incredibly convenient and with a wonderful view of the Newcastle Cathedral. I travelled for a conference at Newcastle University and the location was perfect for me.

we stayed in a riverside hotel where a five minute walk away was a vibrant night scene with plenty of bars and restaurants and lots of people enjoying the night life. very pretty millennium foot bridge lit up at night and a great view of the Tyne bridge. Not sure what i was expecting when i turned up but the regeneration of the river side makes Newcastle a great short break choice.

Sunderland is a city on the up. There are very good restaurants and bars in the city centre, they have two great beaches in Roker and Seaburn. The riverside is currently being revamped and is looking great with new walkways and cycling

I was there for business, it was a lovely place to visit, so close to Newcastle and the surrounding areas. Wish I could have stayed longer to do some more exploring. The roads were quiet, and the area was clean. Loved the Angel of the North

I was surprised by the facilities and what was available, I had heard so many bad things about being there, that when we arrived we were very pleasantly surprised and wished we had stayed in the area longer. We went out of season but would love to see it in season.

I would have liked to have given a better review but unfortunately we had an issue with a faulty oven & hob. Although the electrician attended he was unable to rectify the issue concluding a new oven was required. This left us with only the hob which also tripped out if using more than one ring. Gordon offered us a full refund if we booked out after one night. However this was not acceptable as we had events planned for Saturday. Also, as we had planned to self cater we had bought in food which was wasted and we had to dine out with unexpected expenditure. i.e Friday evening & Saturday evening. Gordon offered a reduction of £100.00 which we thought reasonable, & accepted. We appreciate Gordon would have no control over the oven issue & being weekend there was little that could be achieved until working weekday.

Nice hotel right on the coast at Tynemouth, near Cullercoats. A short walk to the lovely village at Tynemouth and alternatively in the other direction to Whitley Bay. Good restaurant and breakfast served daily sets you up for the day. Good choice if this is the area you seek to visit.

We knew abought Houghton le Spring already. We needed to be in Stanley, Durham, and East & West Rainton so hotel was ideally situated. We used the in-house Restaurants & Bar on 3 nights and the Italian Restaurant across the road ! night.. There are bus routes outside the Hotel - I believe maximum fare of £2.00.

The people were lovely and friendly.

The people were lovely and friendly. But, this is not and upmarket place to stay. It was full of drunks and druggies (even the taxi driver and the electrician said this) It was just like some of the worst council estates we have here in the UK. I didn't go out at night with the dog because of this. There were quite a few pit bulls around, including the one upstairs. The property itself was ok and comfortable, but left a lot to be desired. The cutlery drawer was at ground level, there were slugs on the worktop every other morning and the fridge was awkward to open - you had to shut the kitchen door to get into it! But the owner was helpful and friendly.
