The hotel and the grounds were amazing. Beautifully maintained and clean. Endless lawn to roam around, beautifully groomed trees and shrubs, with a swing in the middle of an old Pine tree. Absolute heaven. Can literally laze around on holiday doing absolutely nothing

We had a lovely weekend in North Wales, staying in a newly refurbished room at the Y Gwydyr Hotel in Dolwyddelan. Dollwyddellan is a short drive from Betws-y-Coed. Trains run between Dollwydellan and Betws-y-Coed every few hours. Y Gwyder is a great place to stay. Namthip and her team were really welcoming. We had a lovely room, it had a comfy super king-size bed (in room 4). Super powerful shower in the bathroom. Lovely bar, with fab Guinness (as well as other beers, wines etc). The bar is cozy, and the locals are friendly. Thai food produced by Namthip was fabulous and they had a traditional bar menu as well. Breakfast is not included in the price of stay. However, it can be arranged at an additional cost, we opted for a bacon sandwich, which was nice. They also have tea coffee, cakes etc available. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend this place / area.

Everything about The Fanny Talbot is fabulous The accommodation is immaculate and tasteful. The staff are amazing - thank you so much, Nevin and Luke. An unforgettable experience My friend and I had the pleasure of staying with Robin and Jane at their wonderful B&B for 3 days – and it was nothing less than magical. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth, kindness and a hospitality that went straight to our hearts. The place is located in the most idyllic setting, surrounded by majestic mountains and a small river. And when we arrived, we instantly fell in love with The Firecat. And we had not even met Jane, Robin and his amazing food yet. Every morning we were spoiled with the most delicious breakfast, far beyond what we had expected – homemade, flavorful and served with love and pride. In the evening, Robin worked his magic in the kitchen and served gourmet meals that invited all of our taste buds to the party. His creativity and ability to present the food beautifully and invitingly was impressive, and the quality was absolutely top class. It was clear, why he has won awards – it was a taste experience beyond the ordinary. And it was served with an intelligent and humorous conversation regarding cooking and countless other topics. The fireplace and candles created the perfect atmosphere. We can highly recommend a stay with Robin and Jane. It's not just a place to stay – it's an experience you take home with you in your heart. When we left them, we felt that we said goodbye to our friends - not strangers, we had only known for 3 days. Thank you Jane and Robin. We will meet again.

We’ve stayed here before, it’s a lovely property in an ideal location, surrounded by Snowdonia National Park and close to Barmouth etc. The inclusive breakfast was fantastic, they use great produce and there’s plenty on offer. Room 310 was brilliant for our group of 6, there was plenty of room and storage, and the modern bathroom was as one would expect. Great property at a very competitive price!

Such a pretty village with the stunning river running through it especially over the rapids. Trees hung with moss and ferns. All the buildings in keeping and when we were there brilliant Christmas lights. Plenty of choice eateries and loads of "Outdoor" shops for anyone wanting the gear for exploring North Wales and a range of gift shops.

I paid a short visit to Barmouth in December, which is out of season. I would like to return to undertake the Parkrun along the promenade at some time in the future. Also, there are motorcycle races held on the beach in October/November each year, which I am sure would be very entertaining. I would like also to tour Snowdonia National Park, which lies to the north of Barmouth.

You can never have too long in Llanberis area!

You can never have too long in Llanberis area! The mountains & lakes are stunning, and there is so much else to explore too. Snowdonia has a magical quality to it that makes it so special. Llanberis is also a great base from which to explore outlying places e.g. during my trip, as well as completing my main goals of climbing Snowdon and Tryfan, I took daytrips from Llanberis to Caernarfon and Anglesey on one day and Llandudno & Conwy on the other, visiting castles, National Trust properties and beaches on teh way. The various driving routes to and from these places back to Llanberis were a joy in themselves. The nearby Pen-y-Gwryd hotel is so interesting, steeped in mountaineering / Everest history - although it was lovely to have the place almost to myself to look around, it is a shame it is not promoted a bit more as a place to visit for a cup of tea / place to stay.

With several heritage railways in close proximity and access by train, Porthmadog should be a must on any Train enthusiast ‘List of places to go’. My son has been talking about the FFestiniog railway (Rheilffyrdd FFestiniog ac Eryri) for many years. We were finally able to make the trek and we were excited to see it all. We could have spent 3-4 days going on the different excursions. Plan on getting into the Boston Lodge railway works for a tour there also.

Bala is a lovely town at the end of the lake.

Bala is a lovely town at the end of the lake. It seems to consist mainly of one high Street with various shops, pubs and eateries. The lake is beautiful. We hired a double kayak which cost 40.00ph and the whole hiring process was super easy. We also did the steam train ride along the lake which was lovely. There's lots more to explore so I'd definitely go back for a couple of days and explore the area some more.
