Absolutely love the decor and standard of furniture, fixtures and fitting of this beautifully refurbished Georgian house. Extremely well decorated and furnished, spacious, with a large bar area, large restaurant with linen tablecloths, and a separate dining area for four-legged friends. Good to know that pets are welcome and are catered for, but those without pets can dine in a separate area. Bedroom (No. 7) was beautifully furnished, spacious with very comfy super king size bed and lovely walk-in shower room with a hot powerful shower. We didn't dine in the restaurant in the evening but we both had a scrumptious breakfast in the morning. Most importantly, the staff were very friendly, efficient and attentive. Finally, the price for B&B for two was very reasonable. What's not to like ??? Highly recommended !!!

FAQs about hotels in Scotland

A Rugged Jewel

With round-top mountains and green hills extending in almost every direction, and stone houses dotted around, Scotland is a jewel of nature forged by ice, winds and seas over thousands of years. But Scotland is much more than beautiful landscapes: it’s the finest malt whiskies in Moray County, the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, the kilts and the bagpipes, the exciting and modern Glasgow, and much more!

The country can be divided into 3 areas. The Highlands and Islands have mountainous landscapes and numerous bodies of fresh water, including Loch Lomond and Loch Ness, as well as little cities like Inverness and numerous islands like the Isle of Skye. Don’t miss the deals on Booking.com if you’re looking for hotels in the Scottish Highlands.

The Central Lowlands are the most densely inhabited area, and with Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen located in this part of Scotland, 5-star hotels are common here.

The Southern Uplands are composed of a range of hills and valleys stretching almost 200 kilometres, home to several hotels with a spa - a relaxed option to enjoy this area.

As some of the more unusual Scotland hotels, castles can be a particularly good option to enjoy a Scotland holiday in royal style.

Glasgow has a sense of humour.

Glasgow has a sense of humour. There's always something funny happening if you look around! The people may seem forward, but give them a moment and you'll realise it's genuine friendliness. A complete stranger will strike up a conversation or just share some funny observation with you, then continue past as if they have known you forever. The murals, posters and signs show what a rich, varied and humorous culture there is here. Dont be afraid of Glasgow, there are so many beautiful places to see, like Kelvingrove, the cathedral, the ancient university, Glasgow green, the necropolis. There are wonderful theatres, galleries and amazing museums that are free. There is so much live music, even just walking down Sauchiehall street you will meet an amazing guitarist busking, or the wee old man with the raving robotic cats. I once saw Santa outside the Hard Rock cafe tying his shoelaces on a Harley Davidson. The Asian restaurants are amazing, the curry is insane. Transport is very good and actually driving around the city centre isn't too terrifying, drivers are pretty courteous and patient (some of the road layouts confuse natives too). There may be empty shops but there are still plenty of full ones from designer to wonderful treasure troves of independent stores. Glasgow has had a bad rap, and to be honest, some streets could do with a good clean (and rebuild sometimes), but I see signs of investment and better days to come. In the meantime, I will still enjoy every weekend I get a chance to be in Glasgow, because people make it :)

We didn't really come in order to explore Aberdeen, but would like to return and spend more time exploring. We called in briefly at the Marine museum and would have liked to look around the port. The local people were friendly and helpful. There were plenty of places to eat near the hotel- e.g. Italian, Japanese sushi, kebabs, fish and chips, Wetherspoons.

It’s a small compact place with some great restaurants and bars, the locals are so friendly which makes the place what it is, Scotland in general is like this wherever you go. The river and Caledonia canal walks are beautiful. It’s a good place to access the mountains and surrounding areas or for a chilled city break.

Great views of the Tay Bridge.

Great views of the Tay Bridge. Mills Observatory well worth a visit, saw Saturn with its rings through a telescope. I notice this is not listed among "popular places in Dundee". V&A Museum building well worth a look even if you are not interested in the contents. Ate at V&A cafe (good food but pricey). Bought ham an bread at a supermarket to make my own sandwiches. I did not see a McDonalds, Burger King, Domino Pizzas nor Greggs. Walked everywhere, stayed about 1 mile from the centre.

Our first visit to Oban and we'll certainly be back.

Our first visit to Oban and we'll certainly be back. There are a huge choice of hotels (avoid The Columba) to suit all tastes and budgets and a great variety of excellent places to eat. We visited McCaig's Tower from where you get breath taking views of the town and the waters and islands beyond. The small but very informative War Museums is also well worth a visit. We took a ferry to the Isle of Mull and then the bus to Tobermory, but would probably take our car across next time so we could explore a bit more.

I didn't know Glasgow Airport was in Paisley! I was only in the airport. I went straight to Glasgow and never saw or knew I was in the vicinity of a separate town called Paisley. I'm sure it's a lovely historic town, but I've never been there. The airport was fine, as airports go. The Marriott Hotel was great, like all the other Marriott hotels.
