What a beautiful Inn. We received a very warm welcome from Martin and Mel and we're able to check our bags in early. After an energetic walk up Hergest Ridge, we returned to find all thr pretty christmas tree lights on and the fire roaring, it all looked so inviting. Our room (number 1) was perfect, very comfy bed and stunning views of the valley. We enjoyed a wonderful meal by the fire in the evening and breakfast in the morning was spot on. All the staff we encountered were very friendly. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning in the summer.

The hall has stunning interior, welcoming wood fire, food was freshly made and very well priced with good potions. Tranquil and welcoming atmosphere. Super friendly, family owned guest house set in the heart of beautifully picturesque and historic Talgarth. Rooms are clean and contemporary, equipped with all the usual amenities. Serviced daily by the staff to a high standard. (Veggie) breakfast was exceptional and worth a mention of it's own. Really enjoyed my stay here...I slept like a log...

Fantastic stay for our family of 4, at the Royal Oak. We stayed in the upstairs suite, which is a recent and very modern loft conversion with essentially a double bedroom plus small landing with seating and bathroom. Owners Sarah and Dave very welcoming and helpful. Clean and immaculate throughout. The bedroom is spacious enough to add in a couple of low single beds under the sloped side ceilings, so fitted our young family well. Fast WiFi available and tea/coffee making. Decent continental i.e. pasrtries, cereal, toast and fruit breakfast provided in the back room downstairs. We also stayed for dinner and the steak and ale pie was great. Good old style pub and beer incl ale selection. Easy parking in the pub at park. Room a little cold given the time of year but there is an electric heater and heated floor so enough. Great view of the hill for adventurous climbers unlike us! We were travelling through while visiting nearby Hay on Wye and so this was an ideal stay about 20 mins out, not too close and beautiful countryside. Also one of the few family rooms we could find near to Hay with good reviews, which are well deserved. Would recommend, thanks Sarah and Dave.

The front of house staff (Julien and Ffion) were very friendly and incredibly helpful. The rooms had all been refurnished a couple of years ago and the room I stayed in was excellent. I ate in the Inn on the Saturday night and had breakfast on the Sunday morning. Both were top quality. The starters and main meals in the restaurant had recommended wines on the menu, which was a nice touch. I had the smoked eel salad followed by the skate.

Brecon is a market town ideally placed to explore both the rural and urban areas of South Wales. There are plenty of eating places and of special mention must be the Gurkha Corner with its excellent Nepalese menu. I can highly recommend a stay in Brecon.

An ok town, shame as bit of a reflection of the current state of affairs in most British towns these days. Was once I’m sure a bustling and thriving market town. Very handy for walking to the brilliant Powis castle and the local steam train railway too. A few bars and restaurants also.

I've known Newtown a little most of my life. It's a fairly sleepy place, since a full East-West by-pass was completed in recent years It's still a full-size Welsh town with all the usual facilities, but situated in some absolutely beautiful Welsh countryside. A great centre for a touring holiday.

The variety of bookshops meant there was something for everyone. We ate at the Three Tuns Pub and The Cosy Cafe. Both places were reasonably priced and dog friendly. As the town is small it was very easy to walk around without the necessity of transport. There is also a lovely walk along the River Wye, with sculptures along the way. One can either do the short walk or the longer one.
