Buxton is a lovely place to visit but to also use as a base to walk locally with several excellent walks from the centre of Buxton so you don’t have to take the car eg up to Solomon’s Temple. The Buxton Crescent experience is certainly worth doing too.

Matlock and Matlock Bath are both beautiful places to visit. We walked ip High tor and giddy edge which was an excellent experience. A beautiful little town with lots of heritage and history. Many little bake shops and boutiques. We enjoyed walking around the town even in the cold. The Woodyard is a great restaurant with lots of choices. Bakewell is very picturesque and well worth a visit.... it's a charming overnight stay, even if you dont like Bakewell tarts!

Castleton is lovely at anytime of year to visit but especially magical at Christmas when they turn the lights on in mid November and the village is so picturesque well worth a visit so much to see and can easily reach so many other places from there too even if you don't drive has a regular bus service which serves other villages too.You would never be short of getting a place to stay either as there are plenty of pubs for bed and breakfast even cosy cottages to rent too.

To be fair it isn't in Stockport.

To be fair it isn't in Stockport. It in a beautiful rural location with fabulous views of green countryside with a charming vista of Manchester in the distance. Yes it was! In my view ! Lol. For us it was a little out of the way mainly because I'm increasingly stressed by driving but in normal circumstances it's nice and quiet. We ate in Glossop at Napolis which was fab last time we went but this time it wasn't great! Had a great ready meal from sainsbury in New Mills! Lots of good walks and paths. Binge Watched Riot women on the big screen! We don't have a TV.

Lovely spot is Holmfirth. Great selection of arts & crafts, good food, great pubs, and one of the best music venues there is! The Picturedrome. Also worth a visit is the "Last of The Summer Wine Exhibition" and "Compo's house tour". Top eateries include Ten Fourteen, The Tap House Bar & Bistro, Lou & Joes Burger Company, Harvey's Bar & Kitchen, to name a few not forgetting some fantastic coffee shops too like the Cheese Shop Deli & Bistro, Ribbles, the Archive and Grahams all serving grew brews, hot food and CAKES!
