The Manor exceeded our expectations and is an ideal choice for visitors to Oxford arriving by car. Staying outside of Oxford offers a more peaceful and convenient experience. One of the highlights of our stay was the charming library located at the entrance to the restaurant. Filled with antique books, including a collection of Britannica encyclopedias from the 19th century, it was a delightful surprise to discover such a treasure trove. I spent hours immersed in these historical texts, finding them fascinating and informative.

I had an amazing stay. The lodge was beautiful, peaceful and incredibly comfortable. I originally booked a suite but instantly fell in love with the lodge instead. Faye was absolutely fantastic — she went above and beyond to accommodate my last-minute request and made sure everything was perfect. The atmosphere, cleanliness and overall experience were exceptional.

The hotel is fabulous. It was my second time there. The room and the bed is so comfortable. The owner is around with a lovely smile and a greeting. Some of the staff were the same as the last time I was there and one of them remembered me. There’s a lovely homely safe feeling in the hotel. The breakfast has everything you could think of. I travel a lot and have never seen such a spread. You are spoilt for choice. It was amazing. I can’t wait to go back !

An enchanting place in a lot of green. Never have we seen so much cordiality, cleanliness, care and loving detail. Very romantic and peaceful. Everything is perfectly thought out, from the tent furnishings, the ready-to-go fireplace in front of the tent to the functional kitchen shelter. Stunning medieval town with masses of history.

Stunning medieval town with masses of history. Busy busy road. Lots of shops selling over priced tat to people with more money than sense. The town is full of snooty people which detracts from the charm of the place. Favourite place to visit was the church and Manfred Schotten Antiques, the latter because the proprietor knows 95% of the people that walk in are lookie loos (including me and the missus) but he is more than happy to chat and secondly it has a fabulous basement.

I actually spent most of my time enjoying the architecture of the smaller villages around Thame. I found the little 13th century church of Great Haseley very charming. It had a war memorial to the Americans who died protecting the area and its authentic old architecture and church yard were just what I had in mind. Great Milton is dominated by its very expensive manor hotel but I hear the dining is worth the trip if you have the coin.
