FAQs about hotels in Kent

The Peaceful Garden of England

The so-called Garden of England, Kent is known for its lush greenery. Although within easy reach of London, it’s a world away from the hustle and bustle. So much so, that at many Kent hotels, spa facilities come as standard. One is, unsurprisingly, in the sophisticated spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells.

Nearby in Lamberhurst is medieval Scotney Castle, surrounded by a moat. Also moat-bound and with Kent accommodation available on Booking.com are Hever Castle and Leeds Castle (the latter in a village not to be confused with the city of Leeds).

The county town is Maidstone, but its most famous city is Canterbury, whose magnificent cathedral is the seat of the Church of England’s highest post. Rochester also has an impressive cathedral.

To the west is Margate, one of the top Kent seaside towns. Other resorts with long beaches are Broadstairs, Ramsgate and Deal. Around the coastline, Dover is known for its white cliffs, castle and the ferries crossing the English Channel to France. To the west is the Channel Tunnel by Folkestone, and Eurostar trains from St Pancras also stop at Ashford inland.

Other popular Kent attractions are the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch railway, Brands Hatch motor racing circuit, and the conical oast houses so typical of this part of England.

Canterbury was wonderful. The old town and the cathedral are amazing. The river with the ducks and the gardens are wonderful. We went there for Christmas and had a wonderful time. People were extremely cheerful and nice. Thank you Canterbury!

We visited relatives over Christmas and have visited many times before. We like the area, lots of good places to walk. Over near Dover Castle is nice - there is National Trust car park overlooking the docks with gorgeous views and a nice coffee shop. The memorial up near Capel le Ferne is worth a visit.

Great place for a peaceful get away from London.

Great place for a peaceful get away from London. You can go berserk shopping at the Ashford International Outlets. Go to the city center for quaint quite cafes. The Shopping center in the city center has also got some great deals (but i was there close to Christmas and other times of the year could be different). From Ashord, roundtrips to London central, Dover, Ipswich, Folkestone, Canterbury can be done in a day. Dover castle is open only on weekend, went there on a weekday and found it closed.

Plenty of really good places to eat.

Plenty of really good places to eat. Whitstable is a friendly place to stay. There are many places to visit i,e. Whitstable Castle, Tankerton - the walk along the shore between Whitstable and Tankerton gives seating areas every so often if needed. Swimming, bowling and skate park also add to the choices of things to do for all ages.
