Amazingly wonderful hotel right in the heart of the small town. Our room overlooked the valley with spectacular views, the room was very large, very clean and had everything we needed. The restaurant at the hotel was really lovely food with a good selection and not too expensive. The breakfast buffet was phenomenal and well worth the money! It was quite literally the best breakfast we had in all of France! And the building had a small lift just enough to fit your suitcases - my husband appreciated not having to carry them up the stairs yet again…. The check in and out staff were really helpful and spoke fantastic English. For some reason the hotel is rated on the site as 3 star - not sure why. Everything was so lovely that it should be rated 4.5 stars!

This town is a gem - the real France and away from the tourist beat. Its cathedral is unique and exceptionally old. A little French is a help here. Very good and inexpensive restaurants. Take the Little tour train for a great orientation.

Where we stayed was a restored castle.

Where we stayed was a restored castle. It was wonderful inside. The staff were very helpful. The part of town we stayed in was quaint and very walkable. I would have loved to stay longer. We ate at a small Crepery that was right around the corner. You have to be there early and make reservations. We did it online and almost didn't get in. The food was good.

Rocamadour is a very beautiful village, however there are alot of tourists and "tourist" shops. It is worth seeing, but we left one day early to stay somewhere quieter. Loved the restaurant at the Hotel Beau Site, great presentation and wonderful wine and dessert. Walking and parking in/around Rocamadour is not for the faint of heart, there are alot of steps and steep hills. I loved the exercise, but it would be difficult for someone with limited mobility. We had a car and did not have any problem parking, but there is extensive walking/steps/hills to and from the parking lots. We walked up the steps to the Sanctuary and onward to the Chateau, but did take the elevator back down to the main village. That is an absolute "must do" if you are in Rocamadour.

Moissac is a small town with a big and important abbey.

Moissac is a small town with a big and important abbey. We loved the relaxed atmosphere (eg free parking), the covered market open in the morning with fresh produce, the restaurants and cafes in near to the abbey. We also enjoyed a free concert in the abbey itself after a downpour ended chances of an outdoor performance. We found the people friendly and helpful. There are a range of eating options and a lovely walk along the canal. Moissac is also a good place from which to explore the surrounding area including bastides, some of which are virtually tourist-free (at least when we visited).

We visited Gramat in the spring and the weather was dull.

We visited Gramat in the spring and the weather was dull. The town appeared run down in areas with not much going for it. There were some good restaurants. The animal park is worth a visit. The aqua park didn’t have clear information about opening times. Close enough for other attractions and towns to visit. Rocamadour is close by. Plage de Gluges 15/20 minutes. Carannac Aventure for canoë and paddle board hire with a lovely crazy golf and snack bar 20 minutes.

Martel was the perfect spot to visit the Dordogne Valley. It combines beauty with services such as supermarket, local markets, the best bakery in the lot!, night entertainment… it small, picturesque, charming but still practical and vibrant on some evenings or market days.

Beautiful room and terrace opening on to vineyard, with view across to Saint Cirq la Popie. Perfect 4 day stay spent relaxing by the pool, in the vineyard, or day tripping. Great breakfast on terrace, and superb restaurant 100m down the road. Would go back anytime - can't recommend this place highly enough.

its a nice place to visit with lots of cafe’s, bars and bistros I can recommend Bambino’s Cocktail bar a 2 minute walk from the apartment. the Monday morning market was a joy to the eye especially the spice stall and other exotic stalls. But I don’t think it would hold much interest after a couple of days but I was based there for visiting the areas mediaeval villages and the walking, it depends on what you want from a holiday. The tourist info is an excellent place to start for getting to know whats what.

Cahors is a nice little city.

Cahors is a nice little city. There isn't much spectacular to see or do, but it kept me busy for a day. The medieval bridge is nice, the cathedral was worth a visit, and it's nice to walk next to the river that encircles the city. Keep in mind, on Sundays, nearly everything is closed. Even finding a restaurant for dinner was a struggle. I wonder if the locals even eat on a Sunday...
