Exceptional dining in charming surroundings. Several generations of the same family have run this well established hotel. Such a good location : within easy reach of nearby Cahors ( wine, shops, historic buildings) and interesting trips both East or West along the river valleys. The scenery is stunning! The pretty village of Vers is itself worth exploration. The entire staff team are friendly and welcoming. There is an outdoor pool and a lovely terrace - so a summer visit here would be fun. In the hot weather the pool was perfect an the room had a fan whih worked well for a good night's sleep. The area around the hotel was God's own country. So beautiful and we felt priveleged to have been told about it as a must see by others. The boat trip from the jetty showed us even more beauty along the river. Going up to St Cirque la poppie is an easy drive and provides an excellent view of the whole region and a pretty small village to enjoy.

Where we stayed was a restored castle. It was wonderful inside. The staff were very helpful. The part of town we stayed in was quaint and very walkable. I would have loved to stay longer. We ate at a small Crepery that was right around the corner. You have to be there early and make reservations. We did it online and almost didn't get in. The food was good.

Rocamadour is a very beautiful village, however there are alot of tourists and "tourist" shops. It is worth seeing, but we left one day early to stay somewhere quieter. Loved the restaurant at the Hotel Beau Site, great presentation and wonderful wine and dessert. Walking and parking in/around Rocamadour is not for the faint of heart, there are alot of steps and steep hills. I loved the exercise, but it would be difficult for someone with limited mobility. We had a car and did not have any problem parking, but there is extensive walking/steps/hills to and from the parking lots. We walked up the steps to the Sanctuary and onward to the Chateau, but did take the elevator back down to the main village. That is an absolute "must do" if you are in Rocamadour.

We visited Gramat in the spring and the weather was dull. The town appeared run down in areas with not much going for it. There were some good restaurants. The animal park is worth a visit. The aqua park didn’t have clear information about opening times. Close enough for other attractions and towns to visit. Rocamadour is close by. Plage de Gluges 15/20 minutes. Carannac Aventure for canoë and paddle board hire with a lovely crazy golf and snack bar 20 minutes.

Cahors is a nice little city.

Cahors is a nice little city. There isn't much spectacular to see or do, but it kept me busy for a day. The medieval bridge is nice, the cathedral was worth a visit, and it's nice to walk next to the river that encircles the city. Keep in mind, on Sundays, nearly everything is closed. Even finding a restaurant for dinner was a struggle. I wonder if the locals even eat on a Sunday...

I have stayed in Mercure hotels before and not been impressed but this excelled itself with their outstanding staff performance, incredible garden courtyards, architecture (1188), interiors and lovely small pool. Their location was hard to beat too - right next to the main square. My room was 207 looking into the courtyard garden and fountain. It was actually excellent value when I compare it to other accomm bookings on my trip. If you have a couple of days in Figeac, I would recommend a stay here.

Great little quaint hotel, absolutely charming. Walk across the street, you have a little church worth seeing. You can see the castle from the little plaza next to the restaurant. Within walking distance to the castle. Everything there was enchanting. The hosts were perfectly welcoming, friendly, helpful. DO NOT MISS the breakfast. It is well worth it. Good local products, ham, eggs. Pains et croissants bien croustillants. Highly recommend!!
