We stayed at the newly opened Mercure Hôtel in Ax-les-Thermes for a weekend getaway and overall had a lovely experience. The location is ideal — just a 5-minute walk from the train station and perfectly situated for hiking (randonnées) in the surrounding mountains. The hotel’s facilities are great. We especially appreciated the wellness area — we tried the spa (hammam, sauna, and jacuzzi), as well as the indoor pool. It was the perfect way to relax after a long day of hiking. Our room was spotless and modern, and the bed was incredibly comfortable — probably one of the best we've ever slept on! The bathroom was fully equipped with everything we needed. That said, there are still a few areas that need improvement. The breakfast (brunch) was quite limited. We understand the hotel had just opened the week before, so we hope the selection will expand with time. However, basic items like a toaster (grill-pain) would have been appreciated. We also had dinner at the Château restaurant owned by the hotel. While the setting was beautiful and very romantic, the food didn’t quite meet expectations. My boyfriend had the trout with a strong rouille sauce and fries, and I had lamb with fregola. The flavors were average, and the service was quite slow, even though the restaurant wasn’t full. Again, we assume this might be due to the staff still being in training. All in all, it’s a beautiful place to stay, and we’re sure it will only improve with time. We’d gladly return — especially for the spa, pool, and fresh mountain air!

We arrived on our motorcycles extremely hot and tired after a long ride in 38°C temperatures to be greeted by a wonderful air conditioned hotel and friendly host. The rooms were large and spacious and recently decorated, as were the bathrooms. In our hot and tired state the presence of a lift was very welcome instead of the stairs. We enjoyed a lovely dinner and could have used the pool if we could have faced going back into the heat outside!

The staff were AMAZING, receptionists and specially the staff at the SPA. The SPA was simply the best part because it is very easy to go there and enjoy the saunas, pool and Jacuzzis and then just go down directly to your room. The room and all the facilities were very clean, everything was comfortable. And it is very well located, at the heart of the little city. So yes, I highly recommend it.

Outstanding dinner, friendly host, comfortable dorm rooms. Located right on the GR10 hiking route, with access to great mountain-hiking routes, e.g. to Pic d'Endron...breathtaking views once you reach it. From time to time in travels you stumble across a hidden gem that blows your expectations and the Auberge the Deux Rivers is one such place. For one of our days cycling our tour itinerary had us stopping in the town of Seix (4km from Deux Rivers). Naturally looking on booking.com for accom my eyes opened wide when I first saw the price of this place, which was very affordable, as I clicked in the images of the place it did it even more justice. I knew we had to check this out with the added bonus of having a cold mountain river at our doorstep, for dipping our sore bike legs into. There was already a lot of excitement heading to this place before we got there. Anyway fast forward to a few days ago when we checked into the Deux Rivers. The location immediately exceeded expectations it looks similar in the photos but even better with your own eyes. The inside also has a nice homely feel to it and the building has been around for many years. We were greeted by the fantastic host from Belgium (I forget his name) but he was very friendly and helpful. Did the usual stuff at the hotel checked in, relaxed etc. Added bonus of the cool river swim just a 30 second walk from hotel. Now when this place really blew us away was for dinner. My assumptions coming to this little small hotel in a small little village was that we were gonna get the same classic meals wed been having the last fews days in France but we were all stunned when the menu came out. 3 - 4 arranged set menus all with different themes e.g. classic, vegetarian or a more local cuisine one where you got entree, main and desert. I mean we were excited when we saw this, a little nervous if the chef could pull it off but after the entrees came out we knew we were about to get the royal treatment. The dishes were unique and very tasty. Theres not enough room to write good about this place just go there and stay for minimum 3 days. Overall we gave it a 43/10

Beautiful house in picturesque hamlet... super-quiet and yet only 15mins from Foix. The house owners had thought of every-single thing to make our stay as comfortable as possible. They had even put up a gorgeous Christmas tree and tasteful decorations throughout. The owners are super-friendly and we will definitely be returning.

For me Pamiers is a Niece Village, semiy tropical with lots of 🌴 trees, Rivers 2 that cross the Old city 😄 Also has medieval Arquetteure. Then you have the Modern side of Pamiers, the ONTERMARCHE PLAZA, where you can find Everything 😉 So far avoid some drug pushers in the Central Little park.

The St Girons Saturday market was the reason why we stayed overnight on our way from a holiday in Spain. The market has to be one of the best in Occitanie. We had a good meal at a Chinese/Vietnamese restaurant, La Pagode, which we can recommend and there are a number of interesting retail shops which have stayed open despite the problems of the last few years.

Not commercial and touristy. There were a couple of shops to buy food/drink and a couple of restaurants. There were several small festivals and markets in the village square and surrounding villages. The area is very peaceful. Easily accessible walks and mountain bike trails. There is kayaking close by, places to swim in the river and caves to visit. Id definitely recommend a visit!

The scenery was beautiful viewed from our little apartment. The health spa, which claimed to be the hottest was really cold inside and out. The website looked good but we were spoilt by going to Bains de Saint Thomas first. Strangely, there was a public pool across from the spa which you could probably boil an egg in!

Foix is really lovely.

Foix is really lovely. Packed full of great restaurants, most of which are very reasonably priced. It's also quite small so you can walk to pretty much wherever you want to visit and it's very very French, so chock full of charm. There's a Farmer's market on Friday in the morning at which you can buy the most delicious food and drink for very sensible prices. Will definitely go there again.
