As snorkelers, we weren't sure if we'd fit in at a dive resort, however, our concerns were completely unfounded. Heading out on the dive boat in the mornings and exploring the reef with a guide (while the divers explored other deeper parts of the reef) was exactly the experience we were hoping for. From the moment we checked in, we knew we were somewhere different to any other resort we'd stayed at. First and foremost, the staff are what make Taveuni Dive Resort so special. HIGHLY recommend the meal plan as the food is incredibly tasty and beautifully presented (besides, there's no kitchen in the bures, so cooking your own food is nigh impossible... and why would you want to!?). Speaking of bures, although no air conditioning, the dual fans were sufficient to keep us cool on the hot nights. Windows are all protected with mesh, so no issues with bugs. The shower was great (best in the afternoon when water is hottest). The king (maybe super king) bed was really comfortable. It was quite a novelty for us to have a turndown service! Starlink WiFi Internet is fast, but limited to the restaurant area. Cellphone reception is present, but patchy and slow data rates. For location, the resort is only a 15min boat ride from the reef. It's a 1.5hr drive to Lavena (one way) over some very rough dirt roads (the sealed sections are a blessing). The dive/snorkel outings are half day activities, so it's possible to do something else in the afternoon. The pool was great afterwards! Breakfast was selected the night before (at dinner) and had a good range to choose from. The breakfasts were excellent (as was all the food!). All meals are served at the restaurant. The staff catered for gluten free (banana bread was so good). Coffee, tea and filtered water was complimentary (dairy, soy and almond milk was available). Packed lunches can also be booked the night before to pick up at breakfast if heading out for the day.

This is THE place to stay at if you go to Taveuni. It's really well located, close to dive centers / rainbow reef and it's easy to take the bus to go to Bouma to do the Lavena and Tavoro waterfall hikes. The rooms are surrounded by beautiful nature, the pool is great and the food very tasty. If you're traveling solo, you might meet other like minded people as it's the only place with a dorm. The best thing about the lodge is the staff, who will make you feel welcomed and looked after during your whole stay and who will share more about their culture if you take the time to chat to them. Be sure to try kava and listen to the beautiful music Kali plays every evening. Also they run a morning boat ride to try and see dolphins (couldn't see them when I went but you get to snorkel too) . This is a small intimate property with a great, locally adored restaurant attached. The bungalows are beautifully designed. The property is more for self-starters, with the ability to attend mass at the Island's historic church or shop in local markets just outside the entrance...it is not an isolated all-inclusive resort. It is nicely integrated into Island life. The wonderful staff will arrange anything you might want to do in or around the Island. The excellent restaurant with stunning views across the Somosomo Straight is a highlight.

Location was beautiful with bures directly above the sandy beach. Great swimming and snorkeling directly in front of resort and surf break only 2km out in front. Manager & staff were amazing - super friendly, great service and really helpful. The food was very good and meals with Spanish Mackerel were exceptional. Private, peaceful and relaxing with plenty to do. The full day around island snorkeling tour with picnic and smoked fish on the beach was a highlight. Incredible coral and fish on the 5 snorkeling sites we were taken to.

The view, food, and staff hospitality were all amazing. The nights were exceptionally quiet, and snorkeling directly from the local beach allowed us to explore the ocean’s wildlife. Trips to the jungle with waterfalls were spectacular. Food is exceptional as well!

The snorkelling out the back of the hotel was lovely. There was a large staff to customer ratio which meant there was always someone to help you. Lots of lovely plants at the hotel and the rooms were nice. Free water refills is always appreciated.

A wonderful stay! Excellent location, comfortable and perfect views.
