I really can't find words that accurately describe the wonderful stay I had at NLV 🫶🏽
The staff was very friendly... from the guy who picked me up to take me to the hotel to those who served me at the hotel, the restaurant and the activity guides.
The room is a dream...a wonderful aurora cabin, with incredible views and a magical atmosphere...I got cabin #1...it's quite far from the center of the village, but it's the best, because you have the whole forest to yourself.
The cabin is small but has everything essential for a comfortable stay.
Clean bathroom with shower and hot water!
Large and comfortable bed to rest and heating to keep you warm.
Living room, refrigerator with mini bar to spend free time.
The restaurant hall is very large, the food delicious and lots of variety.
I booked reindeer sledding, husky sledding, cross country skiing, snowmobile and aurora camp by the lake...all activities were excellent.
Even if you don't book any activities, it's an excellent village to relax and experience the real winter in Finnish Lapland.
I hope one day I can go back to NLV 🫶🏽

Perfect place for a trip in Lapland! The location of the camping is great for seeing the Northern Lights since it is a place far from the city lights. We enjoyed the comfortable, clean and quiet cabin. The stuff is very welcoming and keep to help you with everything! You can easily access Ivalo centre by bus for food groceries and then cook in the camping’s shared kitchen.

The location was excellent, the reception, skiing tracks, ski bus stop, restaurants, and the grocery store considered. The accommodation had the breakfast included, and the restaurant was very near. The breakfast was brilliant! The bed of the room was very comfortable, and the sauna was on the same floor.

Great resort place, west village right next to husky farm...
Great resort place, west village right next to husky farm and horse farm. Decent planetarium also, but they need to learn a bit about running these shows :).
Do install the Aurora app if you are there for this. The Aurora alarm in rooms don't work, or atleast didn't work for me.

Ivalo itself was cute. Not too touristy, much quieter than places close by and everyone so friendly with a well stocked supermarket. Not too many places to eat but it depends what you’re looking for. As a young family, it was perfect for us!

Saariselka is a wonderland in winter.
Saariselka is a wonderland in winter. You can easily get all the required things such as food from K-market. There are lots of activities you can do in Saariselka such as skiing, snowshoeing, Ice Karting, bowling, Aurora Hunting tours, etc. You can easily reach here from Rovaniemi City by using public bus. There is a Ski bus that runs between Saariselka village and Saarselka Ski resort. I did my beginner ski lesson here. It was great. I spent my Christmas holidays here and most things are available to do. I did my skiing on Christmas day itself.

Ivalo is not big, but it is strategically positioned between Rovaniemi and Inari. Amazing location to admire the northern lights and visit Inari. Nature is incredible and it looks less touristy than Rovaniemi.

We spent a total of 7 days in Lapland. 2 near Ivalo, 3 in...
We spent a total of 7 days in Lapland. 2 near Ivalo, 3 in Kiilopaa, 2 in Saariselka proper. As a family some liked Ivalo better, others Kiilopaa, and others Saariselka. We stayed for 7 days to maximize our chances to see the Northern Lights and were fortunate to see them for 2 nights in a row. If we weren’t concerned about seeing Northern Lights, in terms of special “Lapland specific” experiences, I would have been satisfied with maybe 2 or 3 nights (husky, reindeer, snowmobile, ice fishing). But, if you spend extra days, there’s plenty to do — ice karting, cross country ski, snow shoe-Ing, ski/snowboarding, Siida museum, etc.

Best place to view Northern lights. Unique Husky ride , and snow mobile tours. Winter sports like skiing , cross country , snow walking.
Dreamy Winter Wonderland landscape ! Everything covered in snow is a picture perfect view .
Stay in a Glass Igloo cabin to view Northern lights ( weather permitted)
Renting a car is highly recommended , easy to get around even on an icy road . We used Alamo . Excellent car .
Book all your tours in advance to avoid disappointment .
Have fun and enjoy the cold . Be prepare to bring thermal clothing .
Ivalo is a perfect Winter Wonderland Destination !
