We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Nala Narty. The owners are incredibly friendly and extremely helpful, taking great care of us and even planning activities. The location is breathtaking: a peaceful, secluded spot right on the Nile. We loved the Nubian-village-style aesthetics of the hotel, which give it a cozy and authentic charm. Small thoughtful touches, like fresh basil bouquets in the room, made our stay even more special. The communal breakfast was delicious and a lovely way to start the day. Dinner at the hotel was equally delightful, offering amazing views of the Nile. There’s also a lovely spot for swimming, perfect for relaxing. The entire staff was warm and welcoming, and we truly enjoyed every boat trip to the island. Overall, our experience was fantastic, and we would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone visiting Aswan.

Staff was very friendly and profesional in the reception.Loved the location of our room with direct view towards Nile river. The room was in beautiful colors and decorations. We only stayed one night, but if I ever come back I will stay here again. Nubian Village is a lovely little place. Maybe its not for everyone, but we loved it. We loved both the dinner and breakfast at the hotel also with stunning view. The staff in the restaurant was also very friendly and helpful even if the communication in Inglish was not the best

Everything is absolutely perfect. Such a warm welcome from the owner. The hotel was just as expected—designed in a Nubian style. The rooms were distinctive, beautiful, clean, and safe. The staff were lovely and took great care of us, especially Ali, who coordinated everything and recommended various tourist spots. We were most impressed by him. Ali became like a friend and younger brother to me. We truly felt happy with the warm welcome from the owner and his daughter. Everything, including the ride and the sunset trip to Abu Simbel Temple, was wonderful. They were very kind and friendly—this place felt like a second home to us. The food was delicious, especially the omelet, which reminded us of home after being away for over seven days. Highly recommended—everything was truly excellent and won’t disappoint.

Visit the temples in the afternoon (after 03.00pm) because the is nobody (except perhaps some extroverted sceaming chinese girls - but once they are gone). Yes, it´s hotter than in the morning and the light is not prefect. but you will have the temple for yourself and you will be able to make perfect photos from inside.

The stay at Abdu’s houseboat was nothing but mind blowing.

The stay at Abdu’s houseboat was nothing but mind blowing. I stayed in the houseboat for 5 days with my mother. We both feel like we gained a friend in Abdu and hope to see him again one time. He is so kind and caring! Not only did he help us arrange everything in terms of tours (to Filae, Abu Simbel, a Nubian village, the botanical garden and more) and activities (Falluca sailing, Zaraha sand meditation, bird watching trip, exploring the Souk, swimming in the Nile, transfer to Luxor via Edfu and Kom Ombo and more), he also helped us with his second smaller boat to get everywhere, get local products for local prices, assimilate to the local culture by clothing and customs, cooked for us (he also made sure all food was well washed), helped us donate goods and clothes to the local school, and assisted us in getting tickets for the night train from Luxor to Caïro, ATM withdrawals and simcards). We truly think he has a heart of gold and works with honesty not soley for money. His houseboat has everything you need for an authentic stay. Our cabin was spacious enough for the two of us and had an amazing view over the Elephantine Island. The terraces was facing the beautiful botanical garden on Kitchener Island. Due to the placement of the boat you have some shade in the morning and you can enjoy the sunset in the evening. If you look for a real experience and want to dive in the culture and day to day livestyle on the Nile, the boat is definitely something for you. We are truly greatful we’ve met Abdu and can definitely recommend a stay with him on his lovely houseboat. We hope to see him again one day!

From the moment I arrived, I felt embraced not just as a guest, but as family. The warmth and genuine hospitality of the entire household created a peaceful refuge that allowed me to rest, reflect, and reconnect with what matters. I especially appreciated the loving way they cared for their children, the heartfelt conversations, and their openness to cultural exchange. The meals were nourishing, the environment was clean and safe, and the small, thoughtful gestures—like helping with errands or offering fruit—left a deep impression on me. I was also moved by their humility, sincerity, and the quiet strength with which they manage the responsibilities of life.

We spent a lot of our time just enjoying Elephantine island, which is quite, safe, and very relaxing, compared to much of the rest of what we experienced in Egypt. There is certainly enough to explore in Aswan that one could easily spend several days.

Abu Simbel is truly breathtaking.

Abu Simbel is truly breathtaking. We visited around noon on a blessed day during Ramadan, so there weren't many tourists. At times, it felt like we had the entire sites to ourselves. You can walk or take a transport cart to the sites.

Allow at least 2 full days for Aswan region.

Allow at least 2 full days for Aswan region. It s a great stopover for a break after the madness of the tourist sites. The Nubian village ( with the colored walls, where all the motor boats end up) on the other side of the town has been a place where i could have made local friends if I stayed longer. Of course the money making is also there in the mindset, and it s over touristic but you experience the vib of a local village if you stay overnight there. I suggest Ekadolli guesthouse for location outside the touristic area, still close enough to the village, up a hill offering nice view at the Nil. Nebro Guesthouse is better if you wish to wake up right beside the river, in the heart of the village but quiet enough.
