This was such a beautiful hotel and room, it is situated back behind all the other resorts in the area, which gives it a lovely country feel and beautiful views from the back of the property. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the breakfast was great. Lovely walking track straight from the hotel into the beautiful countryside. Everything was Spotlessly clean. Loved our stay here.

I was surprised at how much there was to see and do in this...

I was surprised at how much there was to see and do in this charming medieval town. We stayed for 4 nights which felt just right for visiting the castle, the Virgin Mary pilgrimage church, taking an afternoon boat ride on the Crystal ship, visiting the glass museum, and walking along the cobblestone streets to visit shops, art galleries, cafes, and bars. If we had more time I would have probably used the spot as a jumping off point for other local towns. We did a lot of walking to see the gorgeous views of the 3 rivers. Lots of history in this town - it was an unexpected gem.

I had an overnight stay as part of a three day long journey. The property is in a small village outside of the main spa town. A typical inn. The single room was larger than some I have stayed in and lovely to have a kettle-a good job I had my supplies of teabags with me. The room and balcony overlooked farmers' fields and was exceptionally quiet. Very interesting dinner menu including a nice range of traditional dishes including game. Very good buffet breakfast included in the price. Only drawback was the kitchen took last orders at 7pm and the reception closed at 8pm, which was worrying as I hit a lot of roadworks ,some with breakdowns in. This maybe because the owners seem rather elderly.

While Munich has a lot to offer, it has far too many people...

While Munich has a lot to offer, it has far too many people for my taste. It is also quite expensive. I much prefer Landshut for its nearby location and slower vibe. The regional express train is only €27 and reaches München Hauptbahnhof in about 45 minutes, which is quite comfortable. I think there are connections about every 20 minutes throughout the day. The are also has a lot of local things to offer too, with local historical sites and a great natural hiking area with beautiful views. The colors are beautiful all year long but especially gorgeous in September.

A decent small town with basic activities, well suited for the more senior traveller not interested in night activities. Neat and well kept with some lovely scenery. The localls have limited to no understanding of english. Many nice small restaurants and cafés around the town square. Lovely old churches to see as well.

Bodenmais is a quaint town on a hill. Joska Bodenmais fun to visit even though it’s a glorified shopping centre. Not far away Glas Glasdorf at Weinfurtner fabulous glass installations in a garden setting also another glorified glass shopping centre .

Beautiful little corner of Germany, cute little town, a car is a must. VERY quiet but the spa and the local outdoor pool are amazing. Everyone is very friendly, please be mindful that most places any deal with cash and speak minimal English.

Straubing is a handsome little place, quite lovely in fact. The main thoroughfare is wide and attractive with lots of shops, all very well kept. There was a market just packing up when I arrived in early afternoon. There is a beautiful Albrecht Dürer window in the church, which is well worth visiting. The Main Street, Theresienplatz, has several street Cafés or restaurants. Hotel Gaubodenhof had a large out-door eating area on Theresienplatz.

Sankt Englmar area was a lot of fun for hiking. There were many trails and routes to choose from. It is hilly country, but with spectacular views, wonderful scenery and friendly residents along the way (i.e. farmers). The village itself is very tiny with only one grocery store, one pharmacy and a handful of restaurants, baker and butcher. Opening hours are limited to those that are normal to life in a little village (i.e., no 7-22 h and limited Saturday hours).

Actually I cannot say so much, because my trip was only for one night. Because I was guest of a family event, I had to arrive early in the afternoon to take over the keys, then I join the event, came back late in the night, just for a sleep, take shower in the morning and join the family for breakfast in another place. That´s why I cannot give a complete review!

The town itself is not really a tourist magnet and there...

The town itself is not really a tourist magnet and there aren't many sights to see in the town itself, except maybe for the glass factory and museum. But the position in the Bavarian forest makes it ideal for day trips, with and without kids. And for a lazy day, there's always the Stadtpark with the playground.
