Me and my son made a tour around Fränkische Alp to look at castles and other historical landmarks. We also stayed in some of the castles. We were focusing especially on castles with a more "medieval" appearance rather than later palaces. Burg Rabenstein is really a dream castle if one likes these things. It has very spectacular looks on top of a cliff. It has amazing interiors that make you feel like moved in time. In addition to this there is also possible to eat quite high-end food for a reasonable price level in the castle restaurant. And the list of wine and spirits was very complete, and sitting there sipping on a good whiskey in a leather chair after the dinner was very relaxing. My teenage son was by then spending the time in the huge bathtub of our room. Altogether it really felt as we were some royalty in the past. The breakfast was also great, and the location is perfect for hiking in the surroundings. Only a few hundred meters away is an amazing cave with beautiful rock formations and remains of cave bears.

As an English speaker, I was attracted by the name ( ;-) but was more than pleasantly surprised to find a thriving pub-style restaurant where an excellent breakfast was served the next day. Very attractive rooms and lovely staff meant I felt comfortable and safe the whole time. My room even had a balcony facing the rear so yes, very quiet. Good free parking in the courtyard. Easy to find on the main road of the town.

The room was spacious and very comfortable. The bed and the pillows excellent. Hotel host has a big heart and is a fantastic person. Breakfast rich and tasty. Views from the balcony are breathtaking (to the castle on the hill). Quiet location, but walking distance from restaurants.

It is a charming town with beautiful places and friendly...

It is a charming town with beautiful places and friendly people. There was a lot of reconstructions in the centre but I hope next time to be ready. I would like to know more for the history of the town. There were too many interesting places - the tower, the gate ancient door, old houses and a lot of churches, a river - but I didn't find enouph info on the same places.

Gorgeous little village, surrounded by scenic landscape and a commanding castle. There are several beer gardens and restaurants to choose from. There are some great bakeries and gelato bars, too. Thoroughly enjoyed Pottenstein, there is so much to do and see in and around Pottenstein.

Lovely place, not too busy but with enough cafes, restaurants and supermarkets to visit depending your length of stay. The surrounding area is beautiful and as we were travelling on motorcycles, there are some fantastic roads to ride, especially the one that goes past the Flug platz.

This was a business trip and thus there were a few options in the area. This apartment is however a much better option than a hotel, especially for the long stay (4 weeks in my case) and the cost is less.
