Great hotel with comfortable clean rooms. The view of the volcano from the pool is amazing. Really liked the seating area outside the rooms. The breakfast was amazing, really big and good variety. Nice pool at the hotel and it’s also great that you get access to the thermal pools at the sister hotel. It’s within walking distance to lots of restaurants. We really enjoyed our stay.

We stayed at this little hotel and we were delighted. The location is very central, which allowed us to get around easily. The rooms are very comfortable and the atmosphere is cozy. Plus, the staff were extremely attentive and friendly at all times. Definitely recommended!

It was a small private resort with secured gate. It was close to everything we wanted to see. Direct view of the volcano. Room was spacious and clean. Bathroom felt like outdoor open air. Very cool.

The on-site hot springs are beautiful. The included 30 min spa treatments (one per stay pp) were a nice touch. The activity (one per stay pp) was brilliant. The bird life around the property and the trail walk is beautiful. Lunch was good for veggies and view from the restaurant to the volcano is amazing. Pool bar man is a diamond!

The service was great - everyone was so friendly! The hotel had so much for our family - the pools/hot springs, mini golf, kids club, games, etc. The food was lovely. The gym was well appointed. Guest laundry was a great bonus. We had an amazing time and would definitely return.

Excellent hotel, very friendly staff. Buffet breakfast is amazing and has a great variety (fruit, eggs, bread, vegetables and a lot more). The hotel has many hot spring pools, so you can just decide in which one to relax. Highly recommended.

Fortuna is a beautiful small town.

Fortuna is a beautiful small town. It is pretty active with lots of businesses, tourists, and diverse cuisine. It has a privileged location being so close to Arenal volcano. I definitely recommend places like El Silencio trail and Fortuna Waterfall.

We spent the night here because it was near the airport, as we had an early morning flight. We just dropped off our rental car, which was conveniently located near the hotel, and then went to bed early.

Bijagua is a small Costa Rican town.

Bijagua is a small Costa Rican town. It’s not a tourist town. You are very submerged in the culture. Learn some Spanish. Everyone was kind. We ate at several restaurants. We shopped at the grocery. We seemed to be the only tourists. It seemed very safe. The food was EXCELLENT! We drank the water. Read up on tipping. Stray dogs are everywhere. Do NOT pet them at the restaurants. We did the Sky Bridge Tour in Bijagua (a little hard to find - it’s at a resort) and the Tree Top Chocolate Tour. Both we excellent. We hiked to the Rio Celeste waterfall. That is not an easy hike. It’s through the jungle. Wear boots! Snakes are a VERY REAL. We also did tubing down the river. SO FUN!!!

Proximity to Airport!

Proximity to Airport! This facility standards were substandard. My wife hurt her foot on a dangerous doorstop, sewer gas was overwhelming, no hot water, air conditioner was not hooked up, pumping hot air back into the room. The stairs right from ground level were dangerous. English was non existent with staff. They were courteous and helpful. There were no privacy coverings on the windows. Open hole in Bathroom ceiling.

Our trip was mostly rejuvenation, health and to access the volcano and hot springs. We went to Arenal park and hiked the trail to the Volcano. We saw a Capibara but most other wildlife is best viewed in the early morning. There were a lot of orchids in bloom along the trails. Going to EcoTermales Hotspring was the highlight. It's a gorgeous naturally constructed spa with layered pools, waterfalls all built with stacked granite rockery, bridges and pathways connect the pools, and there's plenty of seating, an open bar that serves the best mixed drinks. The restaurant served fresh healthy assortment of seafood and meats with veggie dishes with dessert at Lunch. The water was fed from the natural hotspring, which was circulated , refreshed constantly with fresh volcanic water. Attention to the holistic elements of nature were throughout. Staff and Service were top notch.

When making your reservation, ask for the biggest cottage...

When making your reservation, ask for the biggest cottage possible. Its all uphill and sometimes rainy and foggy when making your way here, and stay on the road ALL THE WAY UP TO WHERE IT ENDS, at the reception, restaurant lodge. This restaurant was a total surprise. The food and service was exceptional. I vote for Jean Carlo as best hotel/restaurant host in the whole country.

Grecia is a wonderful little town. I was here to find a new home so I was looking throughout the area and visited Atenas and Naranjo as well. We decided on a place near Naranjo. In Grecia I ate at several local Sodas which were fantastic and a more upscale restaurant called Bariles which was fantastic. POPs ice cream shop is also highly recommended. In Atenas I ate at a really good Italian restaurant called Firenze. The Pasta Puttanesca was cooked to perfection. When driving watch for motorcycles.

We stayed at the Altura Hotel. It was amazing beyond words! Can not say enough about this place. We stayed in a 'dome/yurt' and it was beautiful, well appointed and excellent in every sense of the word. Breakfast was included and it was such a treat!

Restaurant in front had great food. Staff was wonderful. And the restaurant was fairly priced as compared to other places in CR. Access to the river at the back of the property was the highlight. We spent a long time playing in the river. And it felt so private. And it was free!

This is a busy typical CR centre with little to offer in the way of browsing or touristy type things. Really good handmade souvenirs in store opposite city park. The museum is open Tues to Sat. We missed it, so I can't comment on that. The weather was cold, foggy and at times windy (this was mid Jan). That's all I can think of!
