Deserves a higher rating for the friendliness of the staff and the level of service. Generally, all the staff were friendly, except for one young lady who had an attitude and was distracted. Jennifer is the person to talk to about food and drinks. She is very proactive and knowledgeable. She made a chicken soup for me when I had a cold and always enquired about our stay. Worth staying at the hotel just for her service. The food was generally good, and we can highlight the mexican tomato soup, avocado with quinoa, langostinos al horno, fried pargo, fish ceviche at Koguiwa. The juices were great, so were the margarita and maraqugin cocktails. The restaurant at Watapuy has fusion food, we enjoyed the beef tenderloin with peppersauce, Wasabi tortellini, grilled sea bass and soup. The rooms are comfortable, and could be better with a kettle and more shelf space. The walk to the river and the trek on Sendero Aluno are worth taking. We saw a lot of birds, squirrels and the cotton topped tamarins on the property. The best persons to ask for any assistance is Grace and to follow up is Angie, both have always been concerned about our comfort. The only issue is that you have is to ask for all details as the app has limited info. We even found out the trek by accident while chatting with a gardener. Another highlight was the Khem spa set up overlooking the river. Jomali was amazing with the Thai stretching massage, one of the best treatments ever for me. She was knowledgeable, thorough, caring and pleasant. Danna also gave me an effective chitomassage. The hotel is walking distance from the Tayrona National Park. Get all information before going there as we were surprised about hidden expenses and the need for cash inside. We also visited the Kogui village near Rio Ancho, worth the effort. We loved it here! The restaurant is excellent and Patricia and the team are so lovely and were very helpful and accomodating as we speak almost no Spanish. The pool is great and the rooms were really comfortable. The hotel is only a 2 minute bus trip/drive or 30min walk to the El Zaino entrance of Tayrona Park and the same distance to Playa Los Cocos.

We arrived late afternoon which meant our room was ready straight away. The hotel were helpful in advance letting us of the park entrance ticket booth closing time which meant we arrived before closing time (5pm). The hotel is beautiful, the views are fantastic and the sky was clear both nights we were there which meant we could stargaze from our terrace. It was super quiet and peaceful. Right by one of the main entrances to the park, easy to find and very easy to start our hike into the park early in the morning. They have a pingpong table and board games in the dining room which were fun to play in the evenings too. We will be back!

PLEASE READ. after reading the comments we had lots of doubts of booking here, but thankfully we booked. in the soroundings there is no better hotel than this, we were noisy and checked at least 6 other hotels around the beach area. this is the only one with a huge pool and rooms just in front of the sea. you can see that the hotel is new and they are working a lot on improvements, and they care about what you think and need and try to solve it. what was most important for us about this hotel was the deep state of relaxation we managed to achieve here, everyone is in the same mood of relaxing you don’t have noisy neighbours in the hotel or party people, is a hotel for PURE relaxation, so much that we cancelled all our exploring trips around and just stay there enjoying the pool and the ocean lol. regarding the food prices, they go between 8-12 euros which we didn’t find extra expensive, but we also went to the towns close by and got some salad ingredients for when we wanted to cook something for us. mosquitos, there are, but is not only here is in the whole area so if this is a deal breaker for you don’t come to the tayrona park. In general we can asure there is no better hotel close to this one, with the quality and style it offers without looking cheap

It is only a few steps from the sea! The hosts are super friendly and very eager to help. The hut was cleaned every single day, with new bed sheets, which is just amazing as sand inevitably gets inside everwhere. There are loads of sunbeds and chairs of the property and a nice comunal area for relaxing. We ditched Salento for this place and could not have been happier. Salento does not even come close to the tranquility and beauty around here. The next “door” restaurant was one of the best we had in Colombia with very affordable prices.

The location and its surroundings are stunning. Close walk to the beach and the perfect place for us as a family. Having monkeys and other local animals was the absolute highlight of the trip. We can’t be thankful enough with Katy, from Girona Travels the partner independent agency working with the hotel, who went many miles beyond to accommodate the needs of our big group. She is a jewel in this hotel and you will get fantastic experiences under her watch.

Everything was great! The breakfast, the staff was very helpful, too. Very good food, also plenty vegetarian options. Gorgeous location, between the trees, right at the beach and by taxi close to tayrona national parc. We enjoyed an excellent massage while hearing the ocean waves - perfect. We would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to relax and enjoy the stunning nature.

We loved the Rio Piedras river, which was accessible from the beautiful SENDA Koguiwa hotel. Stay was too short to go to the Tayrona park or the beach. BUT we will allow for more days to do this on our next trip.

Guachaca was a nice tiny village to stay in with proximity to both Buritaca and Costeño beaches and Tayrona park. It's easy to catch the bus to take you along the main road to these other towns and some hikes. You can swim in the Guachaca river and there is a hike up to a waterfall on the river as well, Cascada Saltillo.

Fantastic hotel tucked away from the busier tourist areas .Very relaxing , car or taxi needed to visit restaurant's away from this area . Swimming in the sea is not possible due to strong waves but the pool at the hotel was lovely . We ate at the hotel most night and food and drinks were good value . Highly recommended for a relaxing escape

It's just a small collection of buildings along a highway...

It's just a small collection of buildings along a highway with major transport vehicles, and all restaurants are open air along the highway. Rather depressing, and not a good spot to get food/snacks for backpacking into the park. Though we were able to get cash from one of the stores, they charged us an 11% fee. As an adventurous person who likes to avoid crowds in national parks, I thought the Calabazo entrance would've been a great way to see the park & wildlife, but it wasn't really worth it. We exited through the Zaino entrance & preferred the accommodations & hiking paths found there. In low season (Nov 27 & 28th) there weren't all that many people anyway.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel, pool was very nice with the sierra on the back. room was clean and spacious. Sound of the river was very relaxing. Food is very good and tasty, patacones were our favorites. Service just needs to be from good to great to make this the perfect hotel.

Beaches are not as packed as they commonly are in Santa Marta during high seasons. Nice place to relax while being surrounded by beautiful nature. Of course, not everything is perfect, but you wouldn't expect that while visiting Latin America. As it is outside the city, it can be a bit hard to find good restaurants, so you might want to find a hostel with its own restaurant or book one with a kitchen to cook your meals.

In general, the online description of the trail is not accurate. You are crossing a mountain range.... steep ups and downs followed by a steep down to the resort. Trails are not to U.S./Canada standards especially when one adds in the fact that horse/burrow traffic is a necessity for supplies. Hope for no precipitation.

For those wanting to hike the Tayrona trail, this resort is close by the entrance of the park, and it is a blessing to have this place nearby after hours of walking in the heat. I had a deep tissue massage after my walk and it was divine. My room was beautiful and spacious. Breakfast here is delicious and very generous. Highly recommend.

The best hostal in Tayrona!!!

The best hostal in Tayrona!!! Great small cozy and confortable hostal in the middle of the nature with great views. The room was spacious with a great bed and a private bathroom, great view to the mountains and quiet in the night. I will definitely be back soon. Delicious coffee and pancakes for breakfast. Its 8 minutes walking from the road and 15 minutes walking to the beach los cocos.
