We received an email from Norwesta Lifestyle Park to inform we had been given an upgrade to a Park Home. What a lovely surprise, this beautifully appointed little house appeared brand new with up market fixtures and fittings! Also we ate at Miss Fang ‘Japanese Chinese cuisine Restaurant which is situated within Norwesta’s Lifestyle Park property. Very nice food! Thankyou Norwesta, we were very impressed with your kind upgrade. 🙏🙏 See you next week! 😁😁

Staff were extremely friendly especially since we were late arrivals. Villa Facilities were good and clean with loads of space and adequate parking. Beds were extremely comfy, had a great sleep. Close to supermarket and town centre. Had a weird network outage but can't blame Tasman for that. Would happily stay again.

100% recommend this place for a beautiful spacious experience of the Shark Bay Area! The House is on a corner right on the edge of Denham overlooking the national park and towards the ocean. They're renting out three spaces, of which I stayed in the yellow room on the top floor. It had everything you could possibly need for a few day's stay (I'd have gladly stayed longer!) and then some. The room itself is comfortable, spacious and clean and was very quiet after sunset. There are a fridge, kettle and toaster in the room as well as the kitchen cutlery etc, and then I shared an outside kitchen (VERY complete incl. dishwasher, microwave and bbq!) with the other room on the top floor. The breakfast was great, with a daily choice of many different things that could be part of a breakfast. What really makes this stay extra special were the sunsets! The house has a spectacular view, and the owners, Kerrie and Phil, have maximized the lay-out for you to experience that as much as possible with a comfy couch, a well placed jacuzzi and a large dining table. Around dusk the local wildlife comes by and you'll get to know a few of the regular characters during your stay :). I had a wonderful stay and will remember this special place for a long time. Thank you Kerrie and Phil for your care and beautiful place!

We loved the remote location yet we were only 6km from the beautiful lagoon-like Gnaraloo Bay which is such a calm tranquil swimming beach for all ages. The cabin was rustic yet very cozy, comfortable and well equipped. The absolutely gorgeous sunsets looking directly over the ocean from our cabin we're stunning. The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming.

Carnarvon Gateway Motel My experience was appalling,...

Carnarvon Gateway Motel My experience was appalling, distressing, and far below acceptable health and safety standards. Upon checking in, I was assigned a room that was infested with cockroaches, visibly dirty, and contained someone else’s clothing from a previous guest. When I called the motel owner to report this, I was met with rudeness and indifference. She told me to “squish them and deal with it,” despite me explaining that I had already killed several cockroaches and could see more crawling along the walls while on the phone with her. When I asked what could be done, she replied, “What do you want me to do about it?” and then hung up on me. At this point, I was extremely upset and prepared to sleep in my car, as every other accommodation in Carnarvon was fully booked. Approximately 40 minutes later, a staff member knocked on my door and apologised for the situation. He inspected the room, confirmed the infestation, and began searching for an alternative room with me. Over the next two hours (from 11:00 PM until around 1:00 AM), we inspected approximately 30 different rooms, all of which were infested with cockroaches, filthy, and in disrepair. Many rooms had heavy dust build-up, mould in the bathrooms, ripped bedding, and visible spider webs. One even had a frog inside. The overall state of the motel was disgraceful and unsanitary. Eventually, I was placed in a room that the staff member admitted was “blocked off” because it did not have a working fire alarm—a major safety violation. While this room also had cobwebs and a noticeable odour, it was the cleanest available, and I was completely exhausted from hours of searching. This entire ordeal left me distressed, exhausted, and disgusted. The conditions at Carnarvon Gateway Motel present clear health, hygiene, and safety risks, and the owner’s dismissive and unprofessional response was unacceptable.

Our accommodation at #2 chalet at Tasman Holiday Park was perfect. Very comfortable. Jo at reception was really friendly and helpful. The Shark Bay Hotel was ok, cold drinks and great location but food was not great and we didn't feel welcome there. The Old Pearler is a great building and we had an (expensive) dinner, atmosphere was lovely. Both supermarkets were great, very helpful and could have a chat and learn a bit more about the area and places to go. We also bought seafood from Shark Bay Fish Factory which was amazing. Unfortunately, Roger Cook's government is closing commercial fishing in the area from January 1 2026 and so they will no longer be operational. What a loss! Location was perfect for us with easy access to Monkey Mia. We also came at a time that was quiet and I believe Denham can become very busy at peak times.

Carnarvon is a quiet coastal town with a relaxed pace.

Carnarvon is a quiet coastal town with a relaxed pace. You’ll find fresh produce at the Gascoyne Growers’ Market and local seafood at nearby cafes. The Fascine waterfront is great for walks and sunset views. Visit the Carnarvon Space and Technology Museum for a look at Australia’s role in space history. The One Mile Jetty and Heritage Precinct offer a glimpse into the town’s past. Quobba Blowholes and the nearby coral coast are good for day trips. The town suits short stays and road trips. Accommodation is simple and service is friendly.

We went out to Francoise Peron national park (4WD only), the Aquarium with lunch, and golf at the most westerly course and a good meal at the pub. Due to the weather our trip to Dirk Hartog was cancelled but we support the wise decision of the tour operator who provided us a 100% refund.

Gateway motel

Gateway motel _ we really like the location of the gateway hotel and have stayed twice recently. we usually bring our own towels as we frequently stopover in Carnarvon through from Karratha we were traveling in a rush this time. the service was good, and the location and price is always good. in saying that we would like you to know - Towels were extremely thin and had visible holes _ cleanliness of room was questionable on bed side tables, above door and on windows. _ please consider replacing the shower rose so a taller person does not hit their head. _ the water pressure was fair, but with a better shower rose that will be fixed - the hot water took a long time to come through, I feel we wasted a lot of water waiting for it to get warm both in the shower and kitchen.

Beautiful town very relaxed great views and a couple of good pubs. Visitor centre is well worth a visit plenty of history of the town. Monkey Mia was brilliant seeing the dolphins close up was an experience we will never forget. Ocean Park aquarium has plenty to see and provides a guided tour with a large amount of sea life to see. Guides very knowledgeable. Plenty of beaches to visit and some awesome photo opportunities. I can recommend Pauls tyres he fixed up my punctured tyre quickly and cheaply he also is the RAC call out man.

For kids, it's okay.

For kids, it's okay. However, the cost of the 850km drive from Perth is not commensurate with the facilities. Cervantes is a 100% better place to visit and be in the ocean. As they say, over the blaring megaphone, the dolphins might not turn up. Moreover, people are made to stand at the water's edge and not in the water. There is no touching or interaction with the dolphins. Sea World is more fun and of greater value.
